FUCK YEAH!!!

WOOOOOOOH KUDLA.

All right enough of that shit.

But I'm serious - this guy is the BEST American male player, I don't care about rankings.

For those who didn't see, Kudla cruises first two sets. Looks like an easy wrap. Nope. Duckworth, who I just saw is only 21 himself, springs back. Takes a set. And another. It comes down to fifth. Duckworth immediately breaks Kudla.

Now here's why Kudla is the only serious American male player: every other one would have lost by a mile from this position. Why? Because, for some reason, Americans are mentally weak. Almost every single one. It's like Roddick rubbed off on them. I don't know. I just notice.

Anyway, from a point where the rest would have folded like dogs, Kudla fights bravely and just manages to break back. At that point, I go from cheering and watching score to looking up photos. I flip back a couple minutes later - it's 4-1. Every single game, almost in the fourth set was contested. But Kudla proved the mentally stronger, and simply broke Duckworth. He has done this over and over. I don't wish to exaggerate. As we saw the other day vs Tsonga, he's not on the technical level of the best, not by any means. But this is the thing: HE'S TWENTY. He will continue to improve. He already has the one thing you MUST have to win your matches - mental toughness. Which other American male player has it? Jack Sock? He's mediocre. Ryan Harrison? He's below average mentally. Rhyne Williams is the only one who has shown a HINT of knowing how to close.

This guy Kudla is fucking great, and he will continue to be underpriced a little while longer. After that, he'll be like Almagro, a known entity. A top second-tier player priced about right.

Ok, off my soapbox. Just excited by seeing a player who actually fights back, doesn't fold, and WINS.

GREAT JOB, DENIS KUDLA!

cash, he's gonna have to wear shades with that future.... :0008

Glad you got him. I put a lot of thought into my parlay and would have hated to lose. Kudla was the only close one. Kudla will continue to be undervalued but soon enough the market will figure him out. Let's hope these ESPNers keep talking about the usual suspects and keep it hush on DK. Funny how you can get a feed on all the non-competitive matches but couldn't get one on Kudla. Ok, it's Serena Williams, but where the thrill watching her crush some hapless bug?

Oh yeah, it will be interesting to watch him develop. You could see what he can do -- and what he can't, yet, do -- against Tsonga. Thing is, tennis prime used to be 22-26 maybe, or 24-28, but now it's getting even older, if anything. Where Kudla is in two years will be very interesting to see. I don't see any reason he can't follow the same path Nishikori has traveled. Speaking of whom, another easy cash. As bleed said, the line was too low. I think it should have been -1200, but Nish isn't well enough known (outside Japan, where he is a hero), and Ebden has been playing well in challengers lately. But you could see the class difference.

good win on nishi and the parlay, i was a little leery with nishi because he lost in first round of last tourney. of course that was not at all a good barometer, as youzhny was playing really well and he's not exactly chopped liver.

yeah youzh was the youzh of old. i saw that match. nish played some great shots. most of the time he would have won, that was just youzh rising up like when he was a good player 2-3 years ago. no real meaning for nish. the thing about him to watch is whether he's injured, as he was at miami when he was like -600 over berlocq and got waxed.
