wow, surprised to see Mugu open as fave over Aga - bottom line though is that if she plays her game at a high level Gaby has the weapons to basically run through her - there is a huge difference b/t the pace of these 2 players' ground strokes........... big advantage in experience to Radwanska though

as far as the men's side goes, doesn't that look like a pretty light number they are throwing out there on Stan the Man?

Average at best journeyman who his own Davis Cup teammate called a joke three years ago magically becomes a top 5 player and wins 2 majors. Yeah, no steroids going on there. What his cycle is? It's every fucking day 7 days a week for three years. That's his cycle. It'll come out soon but since the Swiss have never had any other meaningful tennis player they are letting it slide for Swiss ratings. Embarrassing tennis will have asterisk by their stats for the last three years.

digging a bit on both dogs in the second matches but trying to figure out which one and how to play - seems pretty damn easy to lay 3.5 games with Wawrinka, would likely take the 3.5 games if I play that way - if I got involved with Joker/Cilic think the 2.5 sets look juicy there...................

Not that you care, but I think Joker wins in straight in a really easy match after his struggles with Anderson. I don't think he'll have any problems with the Cilic serve.

I def do care about your tennis opinions bdb so thanks for the input - imo one of the negative things about siding with Cilic in any kind of bet today is all of the talk about Joker playing 3 straight days, blah blah blah blah blah

he basically played a 4 set match two days ago with a warmup set in b/t playing days, and now is afforded even more rest with this rain delay - I generally like to try to place myself on the contrarian side of things but not sure Cilic +2.5 sets is that side given Novak's struggles in the last round etc


I read last night that Joker is 12-0 vs Cilic, his most lopsided record vs any opponent he has never lost to - but at Wimbledon last year Cilic stretched him to 5 sets and none of their 3 GS meetings have been decided in straights, so a bit of a check in the Cilic column there


as for Stan, like I mentioned I think the line there (including game line, sets line, etc) is a little bit light, but I felt the same way in the last round and Wawrinka passed through in straights so not sure that line of thinking is enough to warrant a play either way - honestly haven't seen a ton of tennis from Gasquet over the years but it looks like he has had some pretty decent success at Wimbledon (including semis in 07) and has been ousted by solid players in most years (i.e. no losses to real slouches) so a positive there for him, esp in relation to Stan's less than stellar record here - although I guess most of that was before the Roids


basically just thinking out loud on all of this stuff and in the end I may not even make a play - but again I do like to hear others' opinions, especially those with a lot of tennis knowledge, as I think that is what a site like this is supposed to be all about

I personally don't put much thought into Joker playing 3 straight days. They do it in 250's and 500's all the time even though they are best of 3. There isn't a guy in better shape on tour so that shouldn't be an issue. Also with Cilic, he's a big bomber but not quite to the extent of an Anderson or Isner. There won't be many punishing baseline rallies in the match. I think Joker can turn it on when he wants and if he Cilic is off on his serve at all today, Joker will crush his 2nd serve. I'm not a fan of playing -2.5 sets, and I'm certainly not playing or advocating it, I just think he'll roll.

Gasquet is playing his best tennis in a while. Probably back on the cocaine. But Wawrinkas ground game is made for a slower surface like Australia or the clay courts of Garros. Probably the two best one handed backhands in the game on display so it should be interesting.
