Fartin :mj07:

That would be great if we could swap Bonzi (Spur-slayer) or even better Ivy ;) for Martin...

Let's hope we can lock up Nene and get a shooter too...

So. Cal
I used to collect bball cards back in the day, and pheonix which is where im originally from had a terrible team and I wasnt that interested in them (i have had to fight the bandwagon fan addiction given to me by my mother at an early age, Im proud to say I have been bandwagon free since 98!(VT) anyways so I had all the steph marbury cards like a suspicious amount so I checked him out in his rookie season and really liked him and the team. Then I fell in love with garnets style of play and marbury was just sick and this was back before he has proven to be a 20 and 10 player and yet considered a liability on the team( go figure but i tend to agree now), so yeah I started rooting hardcore for Twolves since 96-97 season and now im not huge into nba ball more into college fball and bball but i will still follow and root and shake my head in shame (damn you eddie griffin lol) at the twolves.

Oh and I for one agree that Gay had the most talent, the jury is still out on roy being the best player, and I would say TyrusThomas has the most potential.

On another note, NBA Draft.net for the longest time, even after this season was over had Rudy Gay as #3 prospect AND under his "pros" was works really hard on both ends of the floor, one of those guys that you tell to do something and its done with every bit of his energy" but watching most of UCONNs games last year more often than not calhoun was benching Gay for lack of energy and he always looked tentative and like he didnt want to win that badly. - that whole team had that look throughout the entire tourney witht he exceptions of Rashard Anderson and Marcus Williams.

Thanks for the correction... One of the ESPN talking heads said he made $8 mil, I just assumed that was the truth, but I will take your word for it...
Also, I didnt say Gay was the best prospect in the draft, I actually said that Roy was. I said that Gay had the most talent, which I think everyone would agree on. He certainly isnt the best prospect because he seems indifferent on the court. I know why 7 teams passed on him... there were good players who worked their asses off in front of him with no character issues... so there you go...

All true.
I agree with you on Roy. Morrison should shine as well since he will be asked to just do what he does best in Charlotte(score).

Rockets are about to sign Mike James from the looks of it. They are banking on a healthy T-Mac and Yao was very strong 2ndH of last year.
They think they can get back to the 4 or 5 seed like they did the year before. All healthy and they should. Jeff Van Gundy is not high on Gay at all. JVG is a hard nosed earn your playing time type of coach.
Gay is not the right fit.Maybe he steps up for Memphis, but it was doubtful he figured in Houston's immediate plans.

i'll take my chances with mr gay. battier was a fine player for memphis and i truly appreciate his effort and hustle. rudy gay is an offensive talent that memphis desperately needs to get past the 1st round of the playoffs... no knock on shane, but he cannot create his own shot on a regular basis. gay has potential that memphis could not pass on. my only regret is that memphis didn't jump ahead of phoenix to get the "thief" williams...

van gundy
isn't this the same man who was hanging on a player's leg a few years back? his opinion is $hit, sorry. van gundy was an average coach in NY - what has he done in HOU to change the latter?

gundy looks like a guy who drinks 24/7 - and is hung over constantly (between drinks) no problem with a drunk, but van gundy's resume/opinion doesn't mean $hit. he is a clown and needs a serious slap to the head.

battier is a great role player, but houston is not good enough to win the west with him. they should have drafted gay and kept him. jmo

The Rockets were 51-31 in 2004-05( lost to the Mavs in Game 7) and 45-37 the year before(also a playoff team losing to Kobe/Shaq). Last year the Rockets had tons of injuries with T-Mac and Ming missing 30 games each. Bob Sura the entire season.
They were going nowhere fast once Rudy T stepped down for his illness.

I agree Van Gundy is no genius of a coach, but he has been great community guy and has been in the playoffs 2 of his 3 seasons.
Van Gundy big thing is his loyalty to his guys. That is why he humped Mournings leg. Also why he took the $100,000 fine in the playoffs for what he said about how the were reffing Ming.

If T-Mac stays healthy then they return to the playoffs again.Bottomline.

Also Van Gundy claims he would give Gay a chance if he were on the team and the deal wasn't his call,, but Rockets don't need another guy looking to score. They need a guy who can play multiply positions and defends(See Shane Battier). Rudy Gay is a 1 position guy(which is by the way T-Mac's position most of the time).
Battier can play 3 or 4 and even some 2 if you need him out there.

Again I think it was a good deal for both. I can't Memphis carrying around Stromile is all that great though. He sucks and isn't getting better.

Rudy Gay is a 1 position guy? Are you saying Gay is a pg? I would say at the college level gay is one of the better players in the nation that can transition between 3 and 4. I will have to wait and see if he is strictly a 3 in pro ball, but he is very quick and long with a decent outside jumper.
I agree with your comments about Houston looking for a sure thing now though, battier will prolly produce #s next season while gay is still learning the ropes.

Agree.
Not sure Rudy will ever play anything other than the 3. 4's will bully him around and 2's may be to quick for him. He might be able to play some 2 though.

I am not bagging on Gay,just don't think the Rockets have much use for him now or in the future. Many people in Houston don't want this trade to happen. If they kept Gay and he develops then he would bitch about how the offense still goes through T-Mac and Ming.
