People could take it more seriously. Maybe if people knew there were 50 000 people running around with this shit, they would take it more seriously?

Maybe the UK has it right. Let everyone get infected, and get it over with.

Some would, I agree.

Cool plan the UK has if you are not in the high risk group or need critical care for something unrelated to this:scared

So the idea is to do extensive testing, isolation, tracing, preemptive closures, etc, to slow the rate of infections and hospital admittance, "flatten the curve" so the health care can handle it, not get overwhelmed.

Lets assume all that is true. Curious what in your opinion changes about all this if he makes some different decisions above. Everything I have seen from scientist has basically said there is nothing we are going to do to stop it, just slow it down by doing the things we are now. Are you saying we would have a vaccine now? Are you saying we should have shut down the border when started in china? No doubt he is an easy target in this with all the stupid shit he says, i'm just curious what real change you see in hindsight?

The Pandemic Response Team would have worked on getting a testing program up and running with a strategy to prevent the spread. Declaring a National Emergency when it was first discovered in this country would have helped the Pandemic Response Team get the funding needed to execute. There would be no change in the vaccine situation.

This was going to hit us and hit us hard no matter who was in office, but one person made selfish decisions that has made everything worse.

No changes in hindsight will be stated except his favorite words "Trump fired the Pandemic Response Team". Or maybe that the other choice that they all wanted (Hillary) would have saved the world before we got to this Pandemic. WWHD? We all need new rubber bracelets. Sheezus I cannot believe how Politically charged this fucking Sports Forum is. It is going to be the whatshisnuts, FDC, postmaster general yyz, old school and kickserv show for the next 2 months throwing barbs because its easy.

And by the way, building test kits with the swing of a magic wand would be hard to do. You have to test sensitivity, specificity, etc. or you could be in lawsuits as our society is so litigious driven with lawsuits. You think anyone overseeing this could make that go faster in production?

Chuck, do you think we would be in the same situation had he not fired the team that was put in place to prevent a national crisis? Would we be in the same situation if he would have declared a National Emergency in late January that would have provided the funding to get a robust testing program in place?

No magic wands. Already had the people in place and the funding is "2 big words" away.

Does Wal-mart have decent meat selection? I truly am asking, have never bought meats/steaks from there before.

They just closed our schools for a minimum of a month. Only for our district as far as I know; just got a call about it. Governor suggested it as the best course of action.
Anyone ever homeschool their kids?

Seriously feels as if we are living in a real life dystopian novel now.

I am on day one and was a shit show, but my Wife got all their stuff printed out and got sorted with their virtual classroom stuff. Day two better be smoother, i cant take 4 weeks of this. Hoping between calls, e-mails, making sure they are doing all their assigned tasks....My wife works 3am-12pm, so i have 3 kids to wrangle (7, 9, 11 and all boys). No sports is wrecking my head too!!!

Stay safe folks!!!

I hear ya! Wife is a nurse, they've been busy. Got 2 high schoolers, keeping them home and trying to explain to them that this is a serious thing is becoming frustrating.

Yep, today was a strange one indeed.
We let our 11 and 13 year olds have a vacation day as other districts in our area were starting their spring breaks this week where ours is doing a couple of 4 day weekends.

The district has no plans for on line instruction so we have to figure it out on our own.
I work out of my house so I don?t always have to rush off in the morning like my wife does, so I?ll most likely be the one getting them set up every morning before leaving for my appointments.
We went to the library tonight? it will be shut down tmrw for the month, too, and checked out 40+ books covering various topics and the kids will be writing book reports. Will most likely supplement the books with some online stuff, but they are going to have far too much screen time as it is so if we can limit it the better off they?ll be.
Toss in thst we live in Iowa and it?s still winter here so the outdoor activities will be limited and you better believe the liquor cabinet will be well stocked.
Rough month ahead and all I can hope for is it?s only a month, which seems highly unlikely at the moment
