J B Holmes to win 66-1, injury recovery and all. He warmed up last week with a missed-cut, but this venue suits him well. JB played nicely last year.

72 holes
I wanted Watney over Mick again this week, but noooo. Watney's sick as I am too. So the action reluctantly went to
Laird over Kuchar -120 What?? -120?? Laird is not better than Kuchar. But he is at this course. This is not automatic, like a bet against Mickleson, but I took it anyway.

Round 1 play (2pts):

Rickie Fowler to beat Webb Simpson +100 @ Paddy Power
Baking Fowler after he displayed good form last week. There had been question marks about his likely performances at the start of the year after he changed his driver, 3-wood and 4-9 irons during the off-season. He had spent a month testing his new clubs and four under-par rounds last week showed that the testing had been successful. I still think that it will be difficult for Simpson to replicate his form of 2011, so I'll oppose him with Fowler who has finished 2nd and 13th in the last two years at Scottsdale.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
Outrights:

Brendon De Jonge(66/1) e.w.
Camilo Villegas(40/1) e.w.
Phil Mickelson(25/1) e.w.
Kyle Stanley(50/1) e.w.
Jeff Maggert(125/1) e.w.
Charles Howell(40/1) e.w.

- - De Jonge is the play I landed on when I capped forward six days ago . . . Villegas is the play I landed on while capping this event in the last 48 hours . . . Mickelson at 25/1 on the West Coast meets any definition of value, and I didn't expect an emotional component involving his daughter Sophia . . . There's an angle there with Stanley that I'm taking over other possible dart tosses . . . Maggert is the wobbly one I'd like to see play out . . . I'm on Howell because I'm a glutton, but I'm not prepared to inflict the punishment that would consume me if I wasn't on him and he . . .

2nd round

playing:

Fowler - 125 vs Lefty

Fowler had a big ball striking advantage yesterday, no reason not to expect more of the same today

As always, good luck

Round 2 play (4pts):

Keegan Bradley to beat Scott Piercy -125 @ William Hill
Piercy has shown some form recently and on this course, but he still not at the same level of the PGA Champion. He ranks outside the top-150 in the World Rankings, whereas the level of Bradley's game can be seen not just by his win in Atlanta, but also his consistency: over the past five months, his finishes read 16th, 11th, 12th, 16th, 17th, 1st, 16th, 13th and 22nd.

[unofficial rd2 system play: Simpson tb Bradley -150]
