The UConn women?s basketball season will officially begin on Sunday when the Huskies take on Ohio State in front of their home crowd.

There are still plenty of questions looming around the team after losing three key players to the WNBA, and Sunday?s game against an inexperienced Ohio State team will be a chance for them to continue working out the kinks.

Here?s everything you need to know about the home opener:

Site: Gampel Pavilion

Time: Noon

Series: UConn leads, 4-0

Last meeting: Dec. 19, 2016, XL Center, 82-63.

What you need to know about Ohio State

Probable starters: Carmen Grande, G, 5-8, graduate; Adreana Miller, G, 5-11, graduate; Carly Santoro, G, 5-10, graduate; Makayla Waterman, F, 6-2, graduate; Dorka Juhasz, F, 6-4, Fr.

Offense: Ohio State is replacing all five starters this year, so they?re still in the process of finding where their offensive production will come from. Carly Santoro showed potential in the Buckeyes? season opener, scoring 14.

Defense: In their search to identify who their key defenders will be this season, freshman Aaliyah Patty has proven herself capable early on. She had three steals and two blocks in the season opener.

About the coach: Kevin McGuff is in his sixth season as Ohio State?s head coach.

Mascot: Ohio State is known as the Buckeyes, and their mascot is Brutus Buckeye. The idea for the name ?Buckeyes? came from the nut that comes from Ohio?s state tree.

What you need to know about UConn
Probable starters: Napheesa Collier, F, 6-1, Sr.; Crystal Dangerfield, G, 5-5, Jr.; Katie Lou Samuelson,G/F, 6-3, Sr.; Megan Walker, G/F, 6-1, So.; Christyn Williams, G, 5-11, Fr.

Offense: The Huskies are looking to score a lot more in transition this season, and coach Geno Auriemma has said he?ll look to keep his offense as fast-paced as possible.

Defense: UConn lost both Gabby Williams and Kia Nurse, their top two defenders, and they?re still working to find solutions to make up for those losses. They played a lot of zone defense in their first exhibition, but Auriemma is still tweaking his game plans so there?s a chance he switches things up against Ohio State.

Key to the Game: Rebounding. The Huskies did well against Vanguard, but Auriemma is looking for his team to find some consistency with the departure of Gabby Williams and Azura Stevens.

Player to watch: Christyn Williams. The freshman had a solid first exhibition with the Huskies.

Geno played the starters all of the first half 49-19 ...we can look forward to that because he has a short bench this year ...Bench played 20 minutes total in the 2nd half ...he will work them in where he can due to the inexperience this year.Make no mistake there are stars there too. UConn is a money maker side and total ....Geno will get the best out of every player...

85-53 low total for UConn at Storrs ...will watch...

Arike Ogunbowale 6-19 from the floor which was a killer as she usually cash money..

laying 28 thay was not good for me.....they got up by 22 middle of the 4th and the last 5 on the bench couldn't add to it.

SYRACUSE gave away a 18 point 4th Quarter lead but held on to win going away by 10..Their All American Guard Tiana Mangakahia scored 26 points ...she will win a lot games with her leadership again..They will be tougher than last year.

and for my misses....ARKANSAS stunk up the joint..should have lost out right to this mid major as UTA shooter missed 4 free throws in last 15 seconds and 2 w/3.5 seconds ..Razorbacks win it at the buzzer 66-65

24 point total in the 4th quarter were I needed a whoppin' 29 .....won't be last time this season..
