Drake women upset No. 13 S. Carolina in Vancouver Showcase

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Sara Rhine scored 25 points and Drake overcame a slow start in overtime to beat No. 13 South Carolina 90-85 in the third-place game of the Vancouver Showcase on Saturday night.


Rhine had 13 points in the fourth quarter and overtime when the Bulldogs (6-1) needed to hold on after taking their largest lead at 46-36 early in the third quarter.


The Gamecocks (3-3) rallied to force overtime and scored the first four points of the extra period, but Rhine answered with a layup, Becca Hittner hit a 3-pointer to give Drake the lead for good and Becca Jonas scored on a fast break to cap a 7-0 run. South Carolina missed its final five shots from the field and Drake made all four free throws in the final 1:16.


Hittner finished with 19 points and Brenni Rose scored 17 for the Bulldogs.


Te'a Cooper scored 31 and Tyasha Harris added 18 for the Gamecocks.

North Dakota playing back to back games and final game on this East Coast road trip.They are basically a good player and 4 others on the floor this year trying to find their way..UMass no super team but they do have size and experience which should give ND plenty of trouble in a back to back .

line at 3' and don't quite understand why..would have thought it would have been 6 or 7 if not more..use up my leg in the teaser get the +1' and hope to just keep the winning going.

I believe SD has the better team and will prove it today..Better shooters for sure...Lets see if they hit the glass hard and D up on a team that will come out with a attitude today after losing by 30 to SD St. by 30 on 11/29.

#4 GB vs #6 SD before the week started..

SD defeated #25 National Ranked Iowa St. on 11/28 by 64-59

SD takes care of business against a GB team who looks like they will struggle to score all year long using a point guard who can't shoot and a center who hasn't improved her game either.Great coach there at GB but he is staying with a Senior point guard who can't shoot and doesn't get to the line. Plus neither Wolf sister improved their inside game enough to make enough for the all league Seniors who left...GB may still shine in conference will have to wait and see but this team can't shoot a lick...and doesn't rebound as well as last year with Mid Major All American JESSICA LINDSTROM gone to the Pro's overseas....Look for even more "Unders" from this team than usually and they were an "Under" team last year.

SD and SD St. in conference are worth hard looks in conference...great guard play and plenty of returning talent.

Old South don't play woman until the tournament and both places I usually bet don't take woman until the tournament...but after racquetball every morning I sit with a couple at Starbucks that have season tickets to the Texas womans team..they go to every game.. they told me how Miss St destroyed UT on Sunday...was there a line on that game..UT lost Higgins one of there best players...and their pt gd from last yr graduated....he invited me next Sunday to see Tennessee game..think I might go..All I know was last yr I lost big when Gino's kids came to Austin...I took UConn big and Texas stayed around and made it close...
Is there a line for Tenn-Texas next week and again what was the line for yesterday's game vs Miss St...

Texas was already in trouble w/Atkins to the Pros and when their starting guard went down it got really bad.

My house didn't post a line on the game ..I was ready to hit it.

Massey had Miss St-4' which was easy money...they won by 18 and State coach was nice.

Texas coach in for a long season.....

Problem with the books now is they have gotten wise to the women's game ...

Some don't post until other houses have posted the lines and they get beat up and value is long gone.

Have to dig deeper than they can to find the gold...
