Sorry I haven't been able to participate due to lack of knowledge on these fields but am enjoying the discussions.
Will take back my even money wager on Wales in a fight after seeing the Aussie team. Do those guy lifts weights primarily and play golf as hobbie?

2nd round foursomes plays:

Australia to beat Japan +105 @ Intertops [3 units]
South Africa to beat Colombia -163 @ Simon Bold [2 units]
Trinidad & Tobago to beat Finland +100 @ Simon Bold [2 units] [available generally]
Ireland to beat Paraguay -163 @ Simon Bold [2 units]

Nice one Ian, didn't fancy the ties lose option for those odds myself, but a good indication of how successful this sport can be for betting for those that do their homework

LOL! DTB, I think it's a bit of a general rule about Aussie sportsmen that they look fitter & stronger than most of their opponents, especially the British! Parsons is a big guy, but O'Malley is more in the 'Popeye' Parry mode. Would definitely beat any of the other teams at arm-wrestling

Agree with you Ian, though I would add that Turner & Nobilo complement each other's game and I don't think Romero & Cabrera do. I expect them to shoot lots of birdies & bogeys which is good for fourballs and not for foursomes. Was tempted by the '+' odds , but think I have enough to play on without opposing the home side.

2nd round foursomes update: 2-2 and -1.37 units

Mixed day as the foursomes plays are split, the lead is lost in one of the 72-hole plays, but now both outright plays look very promising. Australia survived a double-bogey on the last hole to beat Japan by one, while the Ames brothers secured a three shot victory for Trinidad & Tobago. Rather surprising that the heavy favorites South Africa lost, the margin five shots to Colombia, but the hardest loss was with Ireland who shot one of the lowest rounds of the day and only tied with Paraguay. Enough for a loss at a Euro book

In the 72-hole plays, Argentina now lead Japan by seven, Australia lead Germany by three, Paraguay lead England by five, while Scotland fell one shot behind Wales who shot the lowest round of the day. In the outright plays, Argentina remain joint top with New Zealand and six shots ahead of 5th place, while Ireland jumped eight places to fifth and lie just two shots out of a win for the outright play.

Stan
Haven't taken the tie or New Zealand yet just in case they void the bet.
However they weren't the only ones - Sportingodds had Argentina at +162 as well although not for as long as Sportingbet

Dagnabit to the ties lose rule. Can imagine the money Sportingbet made from those that chose not to cover that angle.
In addition to Argentina I did a 5 team combo on Stans plays with no loss but 2 ties.
Argentina and New Zealand have tied all 3 days.
----but it was entertaining

Had the draw NZ Arg at +750
So made a tidy profit on the day, all I need now is Sportingbet to void the Argentina bet
(bet they would have done had they won)
Must admit was backing NZ with a small online book when NZ were 3 up and still getting on at +175 (don't mind if they void that either)

Sportingodds who I took the draw at +750 were offering these odds for all matches as far as I am aware which seemed quite generous when Surrey only went +550. What are your thoughts Stan especially as quite a few of the matches were tied?

All combos I bet are $10 so have small profit from 10-8 to date, but hit several goodies early in year and a few mid year. They probably are not good betting props but have been lucky for most part on them and can't get hurt much at $10 a pop.

3rd round fourballs update: 3-2-2 and +3.26 units

Three out of seven plays tied, but fortunate in that two of them are not at a Euro book and hit the +163 play
smile.gif
Convincing seven-shot win for Scotland over Colombia, less convincing two-shot win for Ireland over Paraguay and a great one-shot for Germany over Japan. Tie three of the remaining four: Argentina & New Zealand, Spain & Wales for which the result is a push, but a loss for Thailand's tie with Korea. Pity that neither Thai player could even par the last hole
rolleyes.gif
The only 'true' loss was by Scotland to Canada, the margin three shots.

72-hole plays still look good: Argentina lead Japan by nine, Paraguay lead England by six, Scotland lead Wales by one, while Australia and Germany are now tied. Outright plays also looking good: Ireland lie in 5th place and only have to make up one shot to Canada in 4th, while Argentina would have to drop eight shots to Sweden tomorrow to fall out of the top-four. Could be a grand finale to the season
biggrin.gif

Ian, I hate betting the tie in golf, much as I do in soccer. I did notice today that the Euro books were pricing the tie at shorter odds than in previous rounds, but in my opinion they just got lucky! If you take the coefficient of variation (variance/mean) of the daily scores they have been 0.19 on Thursday, 0.18 on Friday, correction to tie probabilities as a result, and 0.11 today. No reason for so many ties today and can't see it being repeated tomorrow IMO, especially with the change to foursomes.

Malaysia to beat Venezuela +125 @ Easybets [2 units]

Playing a little more cautiously today as I don't want to threaten the week's gains, but I really have had some strong opinions on plays this week and fortunately they've come off without too many ties losing
smile.gif

Know what you mean Ian. Didn't/Don't generally play them myself - when it's so obvious a mistake they inevitably get voided and that's a waste of funds!
