I posted this months ago before the WC started.....they are the worse in the world of all sports. And it is going to get worse as the tournament progresses. You will see at least one team get eliminated thanks to these bozo's. In fact, they may have eliminated the USA today. Bring on video review........at least make them attend ref school.

no that POS from Uruguay was already suspended before for "irregularities"..,.why in Gods name have him referee one of the most important games of the first round...both teams will lose a key player for their next game thanks to his garbage calls and trigger happy card giving

I'm not at all surprised at all the frustration over bad reffing.....I'm actually a bit numb to it because it is exactly what I was expecting. But a warning to the squeemish.....there's lots more bulls**t to come!

48 matches so far.....2 underdogs win. :rolleyes:

The refs are bad without doubt, although they do have a tough job controlling all the theatrics of the twits that inhabit international soccer tournaments.

Nonetheless, I dont know if anyone can blame the refs for their demise. The US just wasnt good enough.

So let me get this straight;

An Italian panzie takes a dive and instead of the ref giving a yellow card for diving, he awards a PK....and BINGO....Australia out/Italy advance! Give me a break.

Yes I saw many replays.....he purposely ran into the dude on the ground.....actually jumped over him and fell to make it look like he was tripped. I see the same story at least once a week in European soccer.

The whole world knows it was a dive! The Italians are probably world leaders at diving....they always fall like dominoes without even being touched. It's a joke.

I didn't see the red card because I was switching the channels as I am tired of watching boring scoreless games with panzies that should be actors not athletes. And then to have the ref decide it.....no thanks.

If you say the sending off was unwarranted, I wouldn't be at all surprised. Just reiterates what I've been saying about the whole crappy system. Bring in video review and school the refs/linesmen.

Quote from sportsline (just one of many);
'In a World Cup increasingly influenced by referees, a questionable penalty sent Italy into the quarterfinals.....'

This won't be the end. There will be another game decided on a BS call.

It was like that in WWII also.

I am joking (sort of). The best team won....the Italians were the more skilful and imaginative. And with Australia out I can return to watching sports that are a little less thespian.

I don't mind that the better team (Italy) went thru....in fact I made a bit of money on it. I'm just sick of refs deciding the fate of teams instead of the wimps on the field.

I will say this, after watching the damn replay over 40 times in slo motion, it seemes that it was a ery questionable call (sligh contact), but if you're the referee in that position inside the box and that event took place, I am sure 9 out of 10 refs would have called the same thing. If that is a yellow in the middle of the field, then it is a pk.

I just hate to see a game decided like this as controversy ensues afterward.

That's crap.

Slight contact, yeah...Initiated by who??

Neill was lying on the ground, the Italian guy had played the ball around him...either a step sideways, or a jump OVER and there's no contact at all! :nono:

The only way it can be a penalty is if Neill deliberately drags him down with his arm.

He clearly doesn't.

If it happens in the middle of the pitch, no-one even looks twice.

if you are able to look at the reply where you have control of the recorder, you will see in very slow motion that his hand touches his left foot.

but it all comes down to this if oyu want to argfue it this way, there should have been no red on italy and no ps for italy, 2 bad calls=even.

I really thought that the referee in the France/Spain game was the best so far. He kept the cards in his pocket and it made for a very entertaining game.

The game had actual flow to it and it was a very good game. France deserved to win they were the better team.

I wouldnt say a red card and a peanlty are even...a damn big difference there...

The last-minute PK was only "controversial" because it was in the 93'. The ref made the right call, no matter what minute it was. The defender made a careless slide and missed, and Grosso should not have to hurdle over his body to take a shot at goal. He was in an advantaged position until the defender came in-- crucially, the tackle missed the ball entirely. Grosso still had possession at that moment, but his path to goal was unfairly blocked by the Aussie defender's body. He falls over him - Penalty. Totti. Goal. 1-0.

Yea whatever.....heard of Alan Shearer (a rare player that doesn't dive)?...how about Sam Allardyce? They were the commentators on my coverage....they said it was unjust like every other non-Italian supporter. My point was I don't care if it was the USA...it was just another example of how the incompetent refs are determining the results instead of those overpaid panzies on the field.

You may be right that the penalty against Australia wasn't there...although he does raise his elbow - but i saw your first post...

can you tell me what were the wrong decision of the Uruguayan ref in the US-Italy game?

one red card for De Rossi - obvious violece no question
one red card for Mastroienni who tackles with 2 feet! that fault was criminal

one yellow card for Pope that was clear

a goal taken away from the US for a clear offside

i am not sure what were the mistakes of this ref...
