I feel drained after watching the Masters.... wonder if it's as tiring playing in it, particularly when in contention?

Recent Worldcom winners & week before US Masters performances:
2001 Coceres - N/A
2000 Cink - 28th
1999 Day - m/c
1998 Love - 33rd
1997 Price - 24th
1996 Roberts - 23rd
1995 Tway - N/A

Rocco Mediate 40/1 W Hill.

With a pressure free 36th place last week after two weeks 'holiday' and before that excellent 3rds
at The Players & Bay Hill - Rocco fits the bill. His course form is consistent with 5 x top 20's in his last 6 visits including a closing 66 last year.

Outright plays (1 unit unless stated):

Scott Verplank to win 33/1 e.w. @ Blue Square or Heathorns
Opposing the triumvirate of Els, Mickelson and Garcia who head the market as they should suffer from last week's exertions and in a combined 11 attempts at this title can muster only two top-5 finishes between them - Els 3rd in 2000 and Mickelson 3rd in 1998. Course form has always been very important on this course and even though the last two winners may have bucked this trend, the other players in the top-3 largely did not. Verplank's course form is only recent. It had been disappointing until 2000 when, armed with fitted with a pump to his belt to control his diabetes, he rediscovered his game and has finished 11th and 3rd since. Last year he was one of only three players to break par in every round. He played extremely well in the 1st round until double-bogeying the last hole and thereafter fell away. His form is good and he should be relatively fresh after last week's event.

Rocco Mediate to win 40/1 e.w. @ Sportingbet or UKBetting
Another late developer at this course. Disappointing here until 1993 and then didn't return until 1996 since when he has recorded five top-20 finishes in six starts. He has had a very light schedule in the past two months with the Masters being only his 3rd start since the WGC Matchplay in February. He'd recorded top-3 finishes at the Bay Hill Invitational and the Players Championship and was in contention for a third after the 2nd round last week. The fall from contention in the 3rd round should keep him fresh for this week's event.

Nick Price to win 40/1 e.w. @ Surrey or Blue Square
Okay, so it's been four years since he won an event on the PGA Tour, but I'll take a place finish behind either Verplank or Mediate! He completes a trio of players who have a good course history, are straight off the tee and hit a lot of greens in regulation. These are some of the smallest greens they will face this year, so accurate approach play is important and Price's and Mediate's primary failing with the short stick should be of limited importance this week. Like the others, his course form for the first half-dozen years was poor, which only stresses the importance of having a course history this week, but he then had five top-10 finishes in six years in the 1990s, including a win in 1997. That may seem a distant history, but Price has finished in the top-20 in all but one PGA Tour start this season and looks a likely contender this week.

I'll jump on board for Mediate. Looked solid tee to green the last few weeks and should be expected to go close this week.

Mediate 40/1 @ UK 1 unit ew.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Dudley Hart. He seems to be improving nicely yr on yr at this course 62-36-25-12 + he has a 7th last time out. Any value in the 66/1?

Also, I think there is a general feeling that the Big 3 are going to have a let down this week following their exertions at Augusta, but didn't Sergio win the week after the US Open after being the fav. going into the final rd. I see his course form is poor here but in theory his game should be perfectly suited to the tight conditions. More likely the 12 is a little short anyways.

Bettingmad that was sound career advice you gave me, all I need now is some income then I can go head 1st into early retirement.

Agreed with the swerving of the Big 3, agreed with Stan on Verplank but will risk the 5th place and take the 40/1 at Centrebet, also adding John Huston 40/1 BlueSquare and Sluman 80/1 also at Bluesquare both have showed up well here before and are in good overall form. Am also tempted by Mediate but apart from the 2nd round he played very poorly last week - maybe will look at him in-running.

Outrights:
Mediate 40/1
Huston 40/1
Parnevik 33/1

Huston har played well recently and has 3 top 10s the last four years here. Parnevik played well at Bellsouth but struggled with his putting last week. He has a good record here and I expect a better performance from him this week.

only one I was going to post was:
Verplank 33/1 2 pts ew at Blue Square...Liked his stats for this course (thanks Stanley)and has course form..Course favours good GIR plus good putting, Verplank is putting better than last year....
If you look at last years stats for event, the GIR stats are quite low, and everyone made remarkably few putts..but all had high driving accuracy stats..Verplank is #1 on tour this year for DA..
Something to discuss here, but I think as greens are small, players miss them, then pitch in close and one putt, so get bad GIR stats and low total putts stats..probably lost myself there..thinking too hard!!!
Anyway, just saw support for Price and Mediate, so will go ew those as well, both at 40/1...Needed to see someone else pick them as well!!
Worried about Huston, as has good course form, then a MC last year..but the greens are Bermuda, he likes that...I will let him win..unbacked..

Doug Tewell must be worth a small EW bet @ 300/1 with VC 6th hear 3 years ago and in the form of his life on the Seniors Tour

Adding Jesper Parnevik 33/1 Surrey Sports.

Stress free 28th in the Masters and 2nd the week before in the Bell South. This course is similar to a British Open
links style... and we all know Jesper's form in that.... here he has finished 18th in 1998, 9th in 1994 & 2000 with
a best placed 2nd in 1997. Was hoping for 40/1 but have to take the double carpet as he is as low as 22/1 in places.

It's still the silly season....
Doonhammer - couldn't resist the 300/1 you mentioned on Tewell at VC... the 150/1 had caught my eye last night elsewhere. They must have a low liability figure as the price dropped to 100/1 during my bets
.... and to think I could have put the money on 'L' who has tremendous course form he did win this for me in 1998 !!

Two plays I had earmarked:

Brett Quigley to beat Kenneth Staton -111 @ BetandWin
Neal Lancaster to beat Lucas Glover -111 @ BetandWin [3 units]

My laptop has packed in again  Can't access my golf stuff anymore, so not sure if there'll be any more plays this week now :nooo:

Bet and Win offer some great matchups but sadly will not lay any amount of money on them, and if decent bets are taken the matchups are removed completely ...... call themsleves a bookmaker ....... I think not

My advice would be to steer clear

My matchups for this week:

Davis Love -105 vs Stewart Cink @ Canbet (3 units)
Brad Faxon -130 vs John Daly @ Centrebet
Jim Furyk -111 vs John Huston @ Centrebet

As mentioned above Davis Love has plenty of form on the board at this event with 4/9/1/wd/3/7 in the past 6 years. He is clear 4th fav with most books this week and I am really surprised to see him as the outsider against Stewart Cink.

Outrights To place @ Oly 1/2 unit each
Got a couple now I don't think will get higher and may add a couple @cut.With smallest greens on tour I put more emphasis on scrambling than GIR.
Tway 15/1
Funk 20/1

adding prop @ WSEX
Maggert to miss cut +165
Has managed to see weekend only 4 of 9 events this year and looks at a tough field.

adding 72 holes
Kelly -110 over Leonard @ 5dimes
Estes -105 over Leonard @ Cascade
Tway +100 over Flesch @ Cascade

Note any player bet on or against more than once has been extremely good fade so far this year:)
