I can’t believe it, the orange fuck face lied to us. He said he would on day one he would bring down the cost of groceries and end inflation. His doge buddies will cut two TRILLION dollars off the budget, (if this is the case why does he want the deficit raised). He would also end the Russia-Ukrainian war either before he was inaugurated or within 24 hours after. These are the big ones I remember off the top of my head.
Please feel free to add anything else you would like.
I bought groceries yesterday and I will list what I paid for some of the basics. Again please feel free to add any items you would like. These are the costs before taxes
The prices listed are what I paid in mid Missouri.
Ground beef 85/15 $4.59/lb
Chicken thighs-bone in, skin on $2.19 lb
Eggs- large $4.29dz
Went thru 3 little towns on the way:
Gas prices were all $2.79/gal
Dow jones closed today at: 43,487
Please feel free to add your costs, I will update hopefully every few months. If I live long enough.
Thanks everybody,
pd1

He's already backing off his promises about ending the war in Ukraine and bringing down the price of groceries. He's going to fail again and he'll blame it on everyone else. Same old shit.

On the course!
Biden: "We worked with the upcoming administration and secured a cease fire and hostage release."

Upcoming administration: "We worked with the current administration to secure a cease fire and hostage release."

Trump: "I did this!"

Reading thru the poli forum while on the 🚽 I find it Interesting that eggs, milk, 90/10 ground beef, and butter are far more expensive in New Orleans than you and the angry OP pay. Maybe your pricing isn’t for organic grass fed products, so not sure we are apples to apples. Regardless, we get fresh 16-20 count shrimp for $3-$4/ lb so I won’t complain lol . I’ll circle back to grocery store prices.

Hopefully, you guys find some peace the next 4 years. Will be interesting to see what the new admin can accomplish. I am optimistic. DJT impressed me in what he accomplished round 1, but I felt he struggled
when the country began to overreact to Covid. A major issue I have with him is trying to lead via social media. He’s still doing a little of that, but I noticed he hasn’t done so with cabinet nominations. Hopefully it’s a sign he’s taking a different approach in round 2. I didn’t love his selection of Gaetz for AG. His alternative lifestyle should imo preclude him from consideration for top law enforcement official in the country. For this type of position , it is my opinion that that appearance of prior criminal impropriety should be sufficient to remove him from consideration. Young whores and powder mdma are not AG-like behavior. DJT didn’t lash out and make a public stink when he met resistance. Rather, he communicated to Gaetz that withdrawal was in the best interest of the admin. DJT then made a fantastic choice with Bondi. With Hegseth, a bunch of virtue signalers got worked up that he boned women frequently and boozed heavily. DJT didn’t lash out or make social media threats. Instead, he got on the phone and spoke with senators. We have known for weeks that hegseth had the votes. Hegseth was very impressive in hearings. Very sharp. He will perform well in this role imo. I bring up these examples as I think it may be a turning point in DJT’s political career. I thinks he’s finally playing the game well. Looking forward to his energy policy. I’m also hopeful that border laws are enforced, all illegals with any criminal background in the usa are deported, and the relative global peace we enjoyed in his last term is not only restored, but built upon. DJT worked well with Biden admin to calm down Netanyahu. In a vacuum I’d be all in for Israel hunting and hilling every living member of hamas. But, for the betterment of peace in the region, I like that they forced this deal. Props to Biden’s people for allowing DJT to assist given his enormous sway with Netanyahu. Next, he should , with aid of majority republican congress ending the gratuitous funding, sway Ukraine to cede land in exchange for peace. My guess is the Russia Ukraine war will be resolved this year. I am very much so on board with this, as are 54% of Ukrainians and an astounding 90% of Europeans by the most recent polling I read.

going back to grocery pricing, One thing I’m concerned about with DJT is inflation. Djt picked up a ton support over inflation. He needs to realize this. I think he can do great things with energy, immigration and global peace, but at the end of his term the general public will be mainly interested in their grocery bills. I currently (way too early) lean to Vance as my choice for the next POTUS. His, or any GOP candidate’s chances in 2028 will be largely dependent on grocery bills. The few guys I either know or know of in this poli forum have no concerns about their grocery bills. An extra 50 bucks weekly won’t affect them. Problem is, most people in this country live check to check. A recent mind blowing example is some of those who work in my wife’s department at the hospital didn’t received their last paycheck direct deposit on friday if they bank with Cap One. Apparently cap one system was down. They are well paid doctors and therapists so I was shocked when my wife told me last night at dinner that 2 of her friends have less than $50 in their account and fear they’ll miss payments of bills on auto draft. A one day delay in a 2 week paycheck causing that much disruption for well to do professionals was eye opening. Anecdotal? Sure, but my guess is this issue is widespread. Let’s hope DJT recognizes this

With all of that said, if the dnc gets their head out of their ass and stop pandering to anti-Jew democrats, they’ll run Shapiro in 2028. Unless this admin hits a ln absolute home run this term, I struggle to see any republican beating him in a national election.

With the exception of the name brands mentioned, I posted store brand (Meijer) standards. Your brethren have already told us that "organic" = scam, so I had to consider the audience.

Inflation is what got Trump elected and it's what will put his approval rating in the toilet in short order. The billionaires he's filling out his administration with couldn't give a flying fuck about the cost of eggs or hospital workers struggling to live paycheck to paycheck. Much like the coin he just released and everything else he's up to, it's all about self enrichment. I guess we will see what happens soon. Lots of people are going to be extremely disappointed.

Here are some more:
Milk 2%. $4.29/gal
Natural light beer 15 pack. .$10.99

These are from the latest government report issued in December:
Inflation rate was 2.9%
unemployment overall was 4.1%
For adult men 3.7%
For adult women 3.8%
For teenagers 12.4%

Commodity prices as of 1/18/2025:
Crude Oil $77.89/barrel
Brent crude $80.79/barrel
Corn $4.07/bu
Wheat $5.45/bu
Soybeans $10.38/bu
Gold $28.99/oz
Silver $$30.33/oz

RI - that is why I stated I live in rural central Missouri. The egg prices are the only organic thing I bought. I have a feeling they were from a local grower who had too many chickens. The best choice price was 30 cents higher.
That’s a wonderful price for shrimp. I’m guessing the price here is around $12./lb. for previously frozen. When the wife and I want fresh seafood I go to Hy-Vee in Columbia. It’s a little over an hour drive each way.
Thanks you guys for responding, now that I’m retired I have more time on my hands and will try and update every few months.
If I get out this afternoon I’ll check some fruit and vegetable prices. If not maybe someone could post theirs. We eat a lot of fresh produce (salads, fruit and veggies) these are the prices I worry most about if trump deports millions of immigrants.

Gold prices are $2700.49/oz. Sorry about that I guess it doesn’t cost much to pay attention. A good friend of mine and his brother were raising organic pork and he told me (probably not exactly right, but close) that in order to call pork organic the pigs they are raising even though in a hog confinement building the hogs must have available a patch of grass 10 ft x 10 ft in order to call them organic. Doesn’t mean they have to use it, just available.
Another good friend is a butcher and he told me in order to call beef angus the cow must have one black hair. It doesn’t sound right to me, a whole lot of what goes on in this world doesn’t make sense to me until you think about it.

It’s only been in the past three years I started buying groceries like these. For 30 years I had a 3500sq.ft garden where I raised all our vegetables. I had a good friend that raised 6 to 8 steers and 12 to 14 hogs every year he sold to friends. I bought half a beef and a whole hog. You paid market price, but knew it was good quality. All great, and he delivered to the butcher shop.

Brethren lol. Its amusing watching you try to put everyone in a box 😂

Looking forward to great things for the USA the next couple of decades Let’s see if DJT 2.0 can build on our recent momentum. 🇺🇸
