The thread about the favorite bands got me thinking about some of the MANY concerts that I've been to over the years. What is the first concert that you ever attended?

I'll start---

I was 12 when I saw Ozzy Osbourne on April 6, 1983. It was Gen Admin and we were about about the equivalent of 2nd row center. All I can say is that it opened up an entirely new world to me. I've been hooked on going to concerts ever since.

Kiss was my first show way back in the day before they dropped the makeup. Have been to hundreds of others since but probaly the craziest show i have ever been to was slayer down at the trocadaro (sp?) in philly. Blue i always loved a great mosh pit.

7th grade, I went to Bon Jovi and Cinderella......with my mom (haha). Wanted dead or alive is still one of my favorite songs.

Recently, my wife and I and 2 other couples have started somewhat of a tradition. Whenever Kid Rock comes around....we put on our wife beaters, grab a case of pabst blue ribbon along with some boones, (and of course captian morgan) and take a limo to the show. We've done it 4 times in the last 3 years.

My first two concerts I went to are:

Vanilla Fudge (anybody remember them) in 1969 in Monticello,NY

Mountain (anybody remember them?) either in 1959 or 1970 at the Fillmore East in NYC.

I guess I am showing my age again.

Steppenwolf back in 73, made the mistake of taking the old man with me , or was it visa versa? Anyway, took a while for the old man for it too sink in, vowed I would never be back. I saw Zepplin a several months later, AH, the good old days..

Went to see "the Godfather of Soul" James Brown at the Oakland Coliseum when I was 13 years old with my dad. What a show he put on that was almost 37 years ago!!!!!!

Interesting responses...it's fun to look back.

First Concert: Saw Jim Croce about 3 weeks before he died. Was my first "concert," although it was one of those shows where you get a blanket and sit on the lawn.

Biggest Show: Texas Jam One at the Cotton Bowl -- Get this lineup of acts: Sammy Haggar (solo), Heart, Van Halen (with Roth), Blue Oyster Cult, a couple of others I can't remember now.

Best Show: Police on Synchronicity Tour...incredible show

Runner-up Best Show: The Eagles (saw them in the late 70s at the height of their popularity -- fabulous)

Best Solo Act: Sting -- first tour with Bradford Marsailis Runner-Up: Tom Jones, Taj Mahal Atlantic City (give it EVERYTHING he has)

Worst Show: George Michael (wife dragged me to it).....all the music lip-synched it seemed, completely phoney

Most Memorable Moment: Being in the audience the night U-2 and BB King did the duo together in Ft. Worth, when they recorded "When Love Came to Town" for the double live album. Amazing.

Most Disappointing Show: The Who (Cotton Bowl 1988)...was at the end of their world tour, a punch the timeclock type show where none of the performers seems to give a shit they were there. Runner-Up: Phil Collins at Texas Stadium 1992

Acts that I wish I'd seen, but never have: Greatful Dead, Springsteen
