another point to bring up with USC-UT....not sure about VY composure if hes down early...will he be able to keep his cool? or will he try to shoulder too much of the burden? (like he usually does)..

See the OSU game. Next.

ND got breaks this year Washington, Cuse, Purdue. I will give ND credit as thier schedule is tougher than most & definately tougher than UT or USC's

Think about that my friend.

Washington? Record says, hey they suck. Look deeper. It was a MATCHUP AGAINST THEIR OLD COACH!! no motivation on the other side there huh? Cmon. looks like a break but not really

Cuse? Ok that one was a break haha

Purdue? If you followed ND more closely like I do, and I dont blame you for not knowing this, Purdue/ND is actually a rivalry almost as old as the USC rivalry. They are in-state rivals that battle for Indiana recruits every year. The game features high school teammates playing each other quite often. Theres even a TROPHY one team gets. So again, while PUrdue's record shows a cakewalk, its stilll a rivalry game ND had to play on the road, against a team that was RANKED at the time, no matter how ridiculous the ranking may have been.

Texas got everyones best shot as well. Maybe not to the extent of USC but close.

The difference is this. USC plays high powered sophisticated offenses. They use all their best plays (new plays) against USC in hopes of an upset. Beat USC and you are in the history books. Recruiting goes up etc. They throw everything they got. USC struggles more in conf. play. This is a fact and USC players/coaching staff have said so. They find it easier playing outside their conf.

USC and ND did not play any directional schools. USC/ND are not afraid to play on the road. People don't look at home/away games. USC and ND play on the road a lot. Especially early in season. WHICH IS TOUGH!

Texas offense is like a high school offense. You see it being run in high school. A QB can come to Texas and learn system right away. Nothing sophisticated with Texas offense and it is gimmicky.

Texas excels because they run the offense well and against MOST teams they are more physically talented. It also helps to have a phenomanal athlete in VY. Tonight USC will struggle early on because they are not used to this offense lead by phenomanal QB. I am confident USC will adjust and when they do, Texas is fawked.

Why has Mack Brown struggled in big games? Because he can't just physically dominate you with talent against great teams. USC is a great team. You need to out scheme USC. Not just line up across and beat them.

Again I consider OSU a GREAT D. Texas out schemed them or did they just line up & beat that ALL WORLD LB corp w/ pure talent. Whatever happened Texas "gimmick" O did better than the pro-style ND O could do in much more hostile conditions.

If a team puts up 635 yards of total offense on you. You got beat up pretty bad.

Nobodys saying they didnt get beat bad. But you are making ASSUMPTIONS that are incorrect.

You said Oregon was more deserving. The only thing we can predict that based on was Oregons' BOWL LOSS. If they lost in the Holiday bowl, how does that prove they deserved bcs? Flawed logic

AND you said Oregon would have played better against OSU. where is the logic for that? Because ND let up alot of yards? ND let up alot of yards to alot of teams. So does Oregon. Oregon could have let up 800, we will never know, so stop jumping to conclusions

And the fact about ND is this: they let up TONS of yards to everyone this year. They still went 9-2. And in the fiesta bowl, the score was ALOT closer than the game shoulda been, but guess what? They still were only down 7 with 2:30 left. So they DID NOT get beat up as badly as you think.Any time you have a shot to win with less than 5 minutes left, it was a competitive game, regardless of stats.

Its all about winning, not how many yards you allow on defense. If you are one TD from winning late in the game, you deserved to be there.

Texas runs their offense well and has a phenom talent at QB. I said so many times. Doesn't change the fact it is like a high school offense. Texas does it well and it works. Texas better hope it works one more time!

I understand you Derek & I can make the concession on Purdue I do realize that is a big rivalry. But then the same has to ring true for Texas v A&M as bad as A&M may look vs other teams Texas gets everything & then some from tham as thier arch in state rival. You have to make the same exceptions for UT that you do for USC & ND concerning rivalry games & throw that one out the window. Teams do get up for the Longhorns too believe it or not.

I understand about the coach returning, but Washington flat out sucks. 2-9 w/their only 2 wins vs 2-9 Idaho & 3-8 Zona. That game was a break no matter how you shake it out for anyone.

hate to rain on your parade, and i really applaud all of your insight- but tonights game is eerily reminiscent of OSU/Miami. I see the horns pullin it off.

Yeah, it reminds me of a game or two myself - USC-Iowa, USC-Oklahoma, etc.

Well - I dont think the BCS folks factored in the original selection that Oregon was gonna lose to Oklahoma in the Holiday Bowl.

Settly down buddy...
I didnt say I upset at the result of the game - its the selection process. ND was an inferior football team and they proved it on the field Monday.

Not a break b/c ND has alot of upper classmen starters, so playing your former players ALWAYS gives you an advantage, albeit a SMALL one.

As for Texas and A&M, couldnt agree more. Folks watching the game dont understand that though. Even TTU is a great rivalry too. Sometimes the favorite stomps the rival regardless, see USC/ND last 3 years, but sometimes the little guy stands up , especially if at home.

Doesnt matter what the selction committee looked at. YOU are saying AFTER THE FACT that Oregon should have been there. THAT takes into account the fact that Oregon DID LOSE their bowl game. If you wanna second guess the bowl selections, you have to take into account EVERYTHING that we have the priviledge of knowing NOW that the selection committee did NOT know.

I can honestly say NOBODY on this board of avid sports followers would agree that Oregon should have been there instead of ND. You are delusional! Defend it however you want to, Oregon lost to a 7-4 team in their bowl game. ND was not proved to be inferior, they just lost to a better team. that does NOT prove they are inferior

This is ONE season the BCS actually worked pretty flawlessly. Too bad there are irrational folks, albeit you are the first one I have encountered, who think the system didnt work this year. BCS is not just about picking a national champion and that game. Its about matching up teams in the FOUR BEST BOWL games.

So I guess if Texas allows 600 yards of offense tonight, which could EASILY happen, they didnt deserve to even be in the BCS??
