"I was pretty flat last night because I kind of had a chance after 36 holes and I didn't have a chance after 54. Well, no, I didn't really. But all in all, I like how I'm playing. I missed a bunch of putts on the first two days. I could have been in a lot better position. I kind of made a few today. Didn't make them all, but made a few. I played well, moved forward the right direction on Sunday. My next start is actually going to be St. Andrews which is probably my favorite place in the world to play golf, so pretty excited about that. My form seems to be getting better bit by bit. I don't go under par very often at the U.S. Open, so it's nice to do it on a Sunday."

OK
turk, can you give us any insight into the anti-Rose plays?

thanks - burns

He did not play well Sat and Sun last week after two good rounds of 66 at the Scottish Open, 72 on Sat then 76 on Sunday. That all I know, not a good set up for the Open, plus I like the other players chances. GL

Round 1 plays (2pts):

Jim Furyk to beat Jimmy Walker +110 @ SkyBet
Opposing Walker who opened with a 65 at Gullane last week, but it was a false score: he hit only 7 of 14 fairways and 12 of 18 greens in regulation. That poor play caught up with him during the rest of the event and he finished 82nd. This may not be the best course on the Open rotation for Furyk's game, but he has three top-5 finishes in the last nine years and looks to have the experience and guile to play better than Walker on this course.

Ryan Moore to beat Stephen Gallacher -120 @ 5Dimes and The Greek
Opposing Gallacher who has missed his last three cuts with a player who is particularly good before the weekend: he has been inside the top-10 in 7 of his last 11 Tour strokeplay events. With finishes of 28th, 32nd and 12th in his last three Open Championships, he looks very capable of taking advantage of Gallacher's poor form.

Zach Johnson to beat Francisco Molinari +105 @ SkyBet
I'd make Johnson the clear favourite in this matchup. He has finished in the top-20 in nine of his last eleven starts, finished ahead of Molinari in five of their last six strokeplay events and has made the cut in each of the last eight Open Championships. Molinari has a decent record in this event and has been playing well recently, but not at the level that matches Zach.He has also missed the cut more often than he has made it in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Joost Luiten to beat Byeong Hun An +105 @ SkyBet
An has played on this course just once previously and he shot 72-79 on that occasion to miss the cut in 2010. Luiten has a decent record on this course and played particularly well at Gullane last week to finish 4th, nine shots ahead of An. I'd certainly make him favourite in this matchup on a links course.

Kevin Na to beat Charley Hoffman -102 @ Pinnacle [also available @ 5Dimes and The Greek]
Na has played very well since March and finished 27th on this course in 2010. Hoffman hasn't finished ahead of Na since early April and in his four Open Championships, he has finished 35th-mc-mc-67th. It appears that he does not play particularly well on links courses, so the edge should be with the player who has far more experience of golf courses outside North America.

Weather always changing and tough to predict, but I wouldn't want futures on anyone going off Friday afternoon. Winds could get up above 40 mph for those stuck in the afternoon. Could blow up any of their Opens in one Friday afternoon round.

Don't like the chances for

Garcia
Spieth
Woods (never did)
Dustin Johnson
Day
Watson
Reed

I like these guys with Friday morning times:

Scott +1700
Fowler +1700
Fleetwood + 6400

Tourney matchup:

Fowler + 137 over Spieth x 2
Fowler +127 over Dustin Johnson x 2
Adam Scott -115 over Henrik Stenson
