Looks like we all cleaned up on the Kiwis. :D :jump:

Aussies next up and I've had a small play after all on the Scots getting +33. Will cheer my Wallabies home under the number.

Best part about the ABs win was not conceding a try ... get a nice slice of the 80-1 on Van Niekerk :spotting: dance2

Good win by All Blacks but was frustrated that the cover wasn't out of reach of the South Africans until the final siren.

As the for the Wallabies game was glad I didn't have any money on that game. Australia was awful and yet there was still a remote chance we could cover the 30.5 points in the last 10 minutes. Based on last night's performance All Blacks will easily account for Australia next week.

As for Sunday's games:
France v Ireland
Tough game to call. Will Ireland have anything left after 2 one point games or will there tough games help me them overcome France? For these reasons I am staying away from betting on this game.

England v Wales
England will be too good for Wales and I don't see the 30.5 points being a problem. I think England will win easily to make a statement to the other teams.

Play England -30.5

Another profitable weekend for the forum. :)

France were the team of the weekend for me. I thought that for 50 minutes, they played faultless rugby, and only after the game was won, did they take their foot off the pedal, and let Ireland gain a bit of respectablity.

Game of the weekend without a doubt was the clash between Wales and England. As expected, the Welsh made a mockery of the spread, and gave England a roasting all game, apart from a thirty minute period in the second half, where England starved Wales of any ball. This was the reason for England winning the game, becuase if the Welsh were allowed more possession, they would have scored more tries. They looked dangerous every time they had the ball, and apart from a flash of genius from Jason Robinson, England once again have only Johnny Wilkinson to thank, whose immaculate goal kicking meant that an outscored England on the try count, are let off once again.

I think it may well be a different story next week. ;)

As a Welshman, it has been a superb World Cup campaign, which has exceeded all expectations. A tinge of regret as they could have easily won this game, but they will be remembered throughout the rugby world for these last two games, in which they have probably scored the best tries of the World Cup.

However, credit to England for getting the job done, but they are looking vulnerable for the first time in a while, and as I said in responding to Bulldog last week, they cannot defend against rugby of high intensity. :nono:

I am still happy to oppose the All Blacks, who have major problems in defence, and cant keep expecting to outscore teams, whilst conceding tries, in these latter stages. However, they should account for Australia, who were awful against the Scots.

Pretty confident that your winner of the World Cup will come from next weeks England France tie, which promises to be something special.

A couple of my prop bets were secured this weekend. Scotland and South Africa's defeats mean that my elimination parlay is secure, as is my five point Welsh elimination prop.

My two hedge bets on Ireland to be eliminated at semi finals, and Wales to beat England are losers, but were only ever hedge bets. These losers are counted towards my World Cup record.

The good news is that plays on the spreads have gone 10-1 on the last eleven bets. :)

2003 Rugby World Cup :

20-8 (71%) +17.97 Units (+?1797 Calculated to a ?100 Unit Stake)

Tremendous record Crooky. Coattailed some plays and took a little cash, but even without the wagering I always enjoy reading your analysis and predictions for the games. Thanks for the plays and look forward to next weekend.

England, u.k.
Have sides eventually woken up on how to possibly beat England. Crooky was right when he said high intensity rugby is the way to disrupt them. Unfortunatly most sides cannot sustain that intensity for the full 80 minutes. However, that may be about to change because if any teams are capable of such a feat or close to it it is the remaining sides left in the tournament.

England have used their "get out of jail card" once to often in this tournament, and perhaps for them this years tournament has come six months to late. The countries in persuit of being crowned world champions have all caught up. The French were in dissaray, the All Blacks couldn't find a settle side, Australia were dogged by injuries and player changes. Even Ireland and Wales have made strides, Wales more so than anyone. Only Scotland and Italy have stood still.

France have been impressive all tournament and their demolition over Ireland was clinical. As in past tournaments, they have yet to have their let down game. This has come in two finals before so perhaps the stage or the end product is to much for them. However, this is the best French side I have seen for a good few years. Perhaps not individual talent by as a unit, a team. Speed as always is in abundance, they hunt and track in threes and fours and it has been so few occassions that any of their players even when breaking out of defense has been isolated with the ball.

On present form, how can the books have England as favourites to beat France. I know recent matches between the countries have resulted in English victories but this present set of players, although the same as those that have won all that has been put in front of them in recent years, are just not getting it done. It will be hard enough for England to up their game a level or two let alone the several notches that they need above that initial upped level.

Next weekend will be a long day as I see England squandering possession after possession with handling errors and bad decission making. The French will be forever turning the English forwards and backs around with their kicking and speed.

Not a good set of quarter finals for me :(

NZ game went to plan, but Australia continue to disappoint + both Scotland + France lifted their games to scupper my other plays. I think it was just a game too many for the Irish + that the French may, just may, be flattered (hope so :D ).

I've got the semis 'capped at NZ (-10) and England (-6), so I'm struggling to make a play at the moment. Would probably lean to both favourites at the moment, but I'll think about it a bit first.

The top tryscorer markets looking interesting now too :p
