Yesterday felt like a rout . . . Persevere to endeavor getting back on track in this event.

Day 2 Matchups:

Stenson(-140) over Choi
C.Howell(-105) over Garcia
Ogilvy(-130) over Olazabal
Toms(-170) over Crane

La Costa was probably a tired choice, but I can't say The Gallery stood out as a venue I'll miss when the tournament makes another move. Compared to what I expect from a desert venue, there seemed like a lot of elbow room and a lot of green space through the green, and in a single day I heard more references to green complexes than I have in my entire life, which is entirely appropriate because that's what every one looked and felt like.

It was sickening to see love lose. Crane has only played 2 tourneys all year and missed the cut in both. Allenby blew a 3 up through 10 lead.. as well. It seems like an easy course with a ton of birdies even with the ?'ble pins. I love TOms today.. almost as much as i loved him yesterday

What a comeback by Bads, 3 down with 6 to play and he wins 1 up that gives me a 2-1 on my straights, I played Immelman as well, but didn't have time to post it, so I wont include it, now if I could hit my parlay today will be a great day.

Bracket thoughsts

Jones Bracket. Woods obvious favourite, but I like Baddelly to win bracket. Possibly Choi/Stenson

Hogan Bracket. Strongest bracket in my opinion. Mickelson, Rose, Howell, Garcia, Els, Immelman, and Dimarco. I like Immelman to come through.

Player bracket. Singh has tough first round matchup with Rollins.then second round maybe Karlsson. If Quigley can get by Furyk, which for some reason I think he can. He is my longshot to get to final four. Laugh if you must:shrug:

Snead bracket. Weakest of all with Scott, Ogilvy, Weir, Edfors, Olazabal And even though he just won Goosen, somewhat struggling. There is a chance for Casey, Stricker, or Pampling to get through. My pick Casey

Final Four Quigley upsets Casey, Baddely over Immelman. Final in 37 holes Quigley 1 up.

Quigley 200-1 1 unit e.w. top 4
Baddely 80-1 1 unit e.e top 4

3 out of 4 still alive. Not bad.

Solid day yesterday, much tougher matchups Friday IMO. Still waiting to pick my spot against Tigger but its not today.

  • Rose +120
  • Cink -115
  • Casey -170
  • Poulter +130

Im with you on Casey.. he should make it to the finals.

Not sure about cink.. as far as fading tiger, he looks to be on right now and it will have to be someone like ch3 or bads to beat him. Good luck

ODDS and ENDS:

(A) I can't recall a week when the golf observer site has had more good articles packed with nuggets (i.e., INFORMATION and ANGLES) to absorb and weigh:
http://golfobserver.com/golfnotebook.php?c=221#1

(B) I looked at the remaining players to determine how many holes they have lost in their prior matches on this "homogeneous looking" course:

C.Howell - 2 (Appleby, Garcia)
O'Hern - 2 (Glover, Sabbatini)

Woods - 3 (Henry, Clark)
Toms - 3 (Oberholser, Crane)

Immelman - 4 (Bjorn, DiMarco)
Poulter - 4 (Bryant, Dredge)
Ames - 4 (Karlsson, V.Singh)

Baddeley - 5 (Katayama, Donald)
Rose - 5 (M.Campbell, Mickelson)

Stenson - 6 (Johnson, Choi)
Micheel - 6 (Scott, Pampling)
Ogilvy - 6 (Stricker, Olazabal)

Casey - 7 (Weir, Montgomerie)
Cink - 7 (J.M.Singh, Harrington)

C.Campbell - 8 (Cabrera, Furyk)

Fasth - 9 (Durant, Goosen)

I hope my tabulations are error free.

(C) Day 3 Matchups:

I'll pass on the Woods match. I still have Howell, Baddeley and Casey carrying my cash as outrights, and I went ahead and put a garden variety hedge on Stenson vs. Baddeley. I give Immelman a slight edge, but Poulter as a dog looks just as supportable. It's the remaining 3 matches (Toms, Ogilvy, Ames) in which I've seen/heard/read "stuff" that generated my strongest likes for Day 3, and in each of them, the above stats "support" the play. Finally, with a big change of weather in the forecast, and with so few matches to choose from because of pending outright plays, I'm in no mood to stick my neck way out today after a 4-0 rally on Day 2 completely turned around the 1-3 rout from Day 1.

Toms(-150) over C.Campbell
- - Toms showing a far sharper short game on this lush desert layout and making opportunities for pressure time and again from being in position with his shining white rock vs. a good match play man in Campbell on a course that sets up well for his game.

Ogilvy(-155) over Fasth
- - I could not resist adding this play . . . Ogilvy made 14 birdies and no bogeys in his first 32 holes of the tournament, and he still had to gun in birdies on 16 and 17 to overcome Jose Maria Olazabal 2 and 1.

LIA i couldnt agree more with those 2 plays. LOVE THEM. Toms is 22 - 6 in match play (second to tiger). Im sure you like Casey as well.. Lets have another good day.Golfobserver did bring the goods this week. It would have been nice if they would have had somethin on the mexican event as well. I feel like Casey and Ogilvy are as strong as my 2 fades in rd 1 against the 2 injured guys ( campbell and olbehoser)
