Maybe some histories don?t require literary adornments, just some pictures and simply told stories from more than a thousand games and a million lives. If so, this is one such history.

Anyone who has been a part of it knows there is something significant in the Alabama football story ? something entangled with the sport, the state and its people. It has to do with an Ivy League game that came to southeast land-grant colleges and flourished. It has to do with a long-confused relationship and competition between urban elites and rural workers. It has to do with a constant fight for respect and a never ending need for pride and association. It has to do with America.

Roll Tide Roll!

i think joe public hasn't even seen the line yet and will be all over UGA by the end of the week. I can't see the line going much higher than 4, and it may come back to 3 when people start seeing the #5 team getting points sat morning. i'll wait and hope for a turn in the spread (or if it goes to 3.5 i'll buy the hook).

Bama will run run run, and UGA's greene will choke, choke, choke.
Oh how the dawgs miss shockley.

The Georgia Bulldogs also have a history about which you speak. It has to do with a town called Athens, Georgia where you can get Varsity hot dogs and a orange julius. It has to do with Hershel Walker carrying Georgia to a national championship. Running through the hedges is something that the Bulldogs know all about. If there would come a time that a football game becomes more important than feeding our children then maybe we have gone too far. In between the times of Bear Bryant and Vince Dooely is where we can find peace. It is only then we can find truth, justice, and the american way.

Alabama -3

Georgia wont be able to run and this will kill them.

Galloway will be there for the team--just not in the huddle. Shaud Williams & Santonio Beard each had over 100 yards vs. tough Ark run D. Hopefully will have repeat performance, plus Bama finally has a deep ball threat with Croyle's arm.

Dawg: Find the Houndstooth for good parking spot before game. Great crowd and hot bartender!

I thought Scott Woerner did the heavy lifting.

But I don't know how anyone could NOT like the Varsity.

I thought that was like 5 whole NC's, and four halves, and two quarters, and an eighth.

But the Bama pedigree worked for Frank Howard, Charley Pell, and Danny Ford. Kind of funny to think that a football program that was started by Auburn transplants (Riggs, Heisman, et al.) rose to its greatest heights under Bama men.

And I still maintain that Woerner did more than Walker for the '80 Dawgs.

I went to law school at UGA, and I will be pulling for the Tide on Saturday. Roll Tide!

Our group is rolling in town with two RVs packed down with kegs, food, and rowdy GA AND Alabama fans. The first of the two RVs will be arriving tonight and reserving another spot with the second one (I guess with those of us who have to work for a living) rolling in about 3 Friday afternoon. I look for a hard fought battle between two teams with great pride.

I was thinking about touring the Bear Bryent musuem before I became too inebriated. Is it worth it?
