Interesting the difference in attitude towards Katrina victims and Americans stuck in Beirut. One group is left to fend for themselves against the elements and looters while the other is given helmets and personal military escorts out of trouble.
im geussing the money spent on katrina would dwarf the money spent on giving these americans a helmet

Per person, I'm sure it's exactly the opposite. Don't remember any Apaches swooping in to pick up any of the poor folk trapped between floodwaters and lethal looters.

Well, the Katrina relief effort was more difficult because most of the National Guardsmen/women and much of their machinery were overseas fighting George's war. We would have had to ship all that back to try to help a non-republican voting contingent keep their heads above water.

Little did they know how much happier they were going to be when they got to the Astrodome, though. That, and if they could ever get their jobs back, they could use Neil Bush's software programs with Barbara's relief contribution.

Ain't America grand sometimes?

Just the obvious - what are they doing over there anyway? If visiting relatives they probably have duel citizenship. Why should taxpayers (not the government) foot the bill?

yeah per person im sure its the opposite, but stop your liberal rhetoric for a post and realize that there a millions affected by katrina compared to a hundred by beirut, the overall expense to evacuate because of Katrina would dwarf the cost of throwing a few helmets on captives over seas.

And if u disagree with the war in Iraq that is one thing, but to imply that we should keep all our troops at home and wait around for the largest natural disaster in our nations history is wrong. Everyone would be griping at the "wasted" tax money that would needed to be spet to have the boats, helicopters, and men on hand to properly evacuate a whole region of a country in the amount of time they had after the levys broke.

I never said anything other than point out the inconsistency. Why the L word bullshlt? Can't have a conversation around here without dumb labels.

im sorry for the use of the L word,
i just dont think its a legitimate arguement to say they treat those over in beirut so good and look at katrina,
did you expect them to send over 1 leaky baot with a park ranger to pick up people in beirut?

i think katrina caught everybody off guard.

but most of the blame for that fiasco goes squarely on the shoulders of the governor & mayor...who was unbelievably re-elected.

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
the brave Mr Bakri

the brave Mr Bakri

Omar Bakri Mohammed, a rather controversial Islamic cleric who supported terrorist attacks on Britain, and Britain kicked him outta their country, is now begging Britain to evacuate him from Lebanon!

It's all about his children, he sez, and not about the suicide bombers he promotes. Certainly never try that crazy suicide stuff himself.
