After a couple years of insomnia and over the counter remedies, I broke down yesterday and went to the Dr. for help.

They put me on Ambien. Woke up at 6:45 feeling alive and well rested.

It's been a long time sine I felt rested.

Man, maybe this is a beginning of a great thing.

Have a great weekend.

After my divorce I couldn't sleep. Did some reading and decided to get into cardio exercise as much as possible, treadmill and elliptical at my target heart rate for 30 minutes 4 days a week. Maybe it was the stress, not sure, but honestly the cardio really did help. Do a search on target health rate and maybe give it a try.......good luck.

Best sleep drug ever, I sold this for 3 years back when I used to work for Searle/Pharmacia. You have my number/email let me know if you should have any questions.

Thanks. I'm at a steady 212 and I just weighed in the Dr. from close to 240-243 I believe in January.

I quit drinking and smoking over a month ago.

Going through a stressful situation with the wife but that has been ongoing for 2 years. Dr. said it was sleep anxiety from several easily identifiable situations.

I feel like a new man. I haven't woke up not tired in forever.

Wow.

Seriously, if you struggle with being tired every day even if you're getting 7-8 sleep it could be more than you think.

This is what a morning person feels like

Where it is real F ing COLD
What are the short and long term side affects???

Some people can get night tremors / nightmares/ freaky dreams.. Not common.

Long Term is Dependence, once people start using this med it is hard to get off of it.. Addiction is common.

Never have had sleep problems and I would rather be using a med on a nightly basis than not getting my sleeep.

Well the issue was, I started taking Unisom 50mg in 09. And a box would last a month. These days, I'm popping OTC like its candy. Taking 4 a night so what was a 30 day supply was now an 8 day.

So I had to go to the Dr.

To not get too technical on you all, it is designed to preserve the whole sleep cycle which should mean you wake fully rested. I think there is another out there similar, as I am selling iv pharmaceuticals now in hospitals so I dont recall the name, but most sleep agents are designed to just put you to sleep, not keep you from waking up once it wears off.

At the time I sold it was the only agent listed as a non benzodiazipine, meaning it doesnt have the addictive physical properties to it to create dependence. But, in my opinion anything can be addictive.

Short term problems, grogginess maybe in morning, some of people I know that have taken it mentioned it, I didnt see it myself. I felt like I could run a marathon.

It is designed also to provide 8 hours of sleep, it worked to that for me to perfection, so if you cant get 8 hours of sleep dont take it. Also, it works immediately, you should be out within 30 minutes so dont take it until you are ready for bed.

Long term, and even I mentioned it not being addictive, it can be, so can a bottle of wine or a few drinks or anything one does to fall asleep. One has to ask themselves, what is a good nights sleep worth to you?

It is expensive all things compared for sleep agents, most insurances will want you to try generic first, and I am not sure when it goes generic it might be now for all I know. It was like >$3 per pill back in late 90's early 2000's.

Lastly, you will be out, a hurricane could have hit I wouldnt have known it.

Funny you say that JR11.

I was watching the beginning of the Arizona St game and then woke up feeling like I could do anything.

I just took out the garbage as an excuse to go outside.

Not every day you feel you've had a break through on an affliction.

I know tons about Ambien, and I've seen dozens of ADRs related to it. I hate it except for people who are less than (I'll b conservative and say) 50. It's not a drug for the elderly for sure!

It is very addictive and it is very abused now. I've heard several stories of girls getting taken advantage of while taking it, and it will cause short term memory loss too.

Hope it continues to work for u Wood, and I would say ur a perfect candidate for it!:0074

Also, I have heard of crazy dreams while people on it too and potential things 6-5 mentioned. I liked when taking myself, but to each their own. Anything can be addictive. Here is some information I just got on it, mind you I havent been involved with this drug or marketing it for >10 years now, so ....

Lunesta was the other drug that came to market that is better compared.

Is that the same drug dentists are using for sleep denistry?

Forgot to mention that technically it's not a benzo. It's considered a nonbenzo hypnotic, and chemically I think it works very similarly and it might even have the same antidote.

I've seen it turn perfectly sane men and women in their 50s and 60s to raving lunatics! That's why I don't like it. My favorite sleep med to give people outside all the OTC stuff is Restoril (Temazepam) :0074 I've never seen any bad effects with it other than what is intended which of course is drowsiness/sleep.
