Is that the same drug dentists are using for sleep denistry?

Nope, that's Halcion which I never see prescribed for sleep anymore. Seems like it might have been taken off the market for a time then came bak with all the sedation dentistry, but I'm not fully sure about that.

Ambien is a proven addictive drug, eventually one will become tolerant to the drug over time, could take 3 months, 3 years, or whatever..

I know of some docs who won't ever prescribe it, and many limit the amout/scripts and re-evaluate, Its not uncommon for a MD to order the med lets say 10 mg nightly for 14 nights and then wean to every other day to eventually get the patient to completely off of the medication. Long term use of any sedative/narc should be avoided.

If you can take it, not abuse it, and have no side effects that's great.

What worries me Woodson in your case is that we have seen some posts about alcohol and gambling, I don't know if you have an addictive personality but if you do Ambien is not suggested. Another part that worries me is that you were taking Unisom for sleep but then you were medicating at a high dosage cause it was losing its effect. Guess what, Ambien is too eventually and then what??? Cause I can see you are already sold hook, line, and sinker..

Now I am not saying you shouldn't take the med, I am just looking out for you and hopefully you will be able to take this med over a short period of time to get rested and less stress, exercise eat right, and try other sleep methods eventually and get off the med. :0074

Be careful with any of that shit Woody. I have been through some rough shit through the years, and thank goodness it is behind me. I wouldn't take it while coming off something else because I felt like I would be trading one pill for another.

I use dramamine if it gets bad, and it has worked for me. I have had some horrible nights too.:mj07:

Years ago I worked in the nursin home and Old Heen she had to have her Halcion at 9:30, you had a 5 minute window to get it to her before the anxiety and panick would set in,

That is a med I have not heard of in quite sometime. Brought me back a good memory of sweet old lady.

I definitely deserve those concerns but assure you that I do not have an addictive personality. Believe me, I wouldn't have made it to 34.

That being said, and as I posted before your comment (no tone I assure you) I've lost 30 pounds this year, stopped even socially smoking and drinking for over a month.

AND, I have a check up in two weeks. With my wife's hormone levels over 3000 :scared it was time for me to be the care giver for a while.

Hey, as long as you step up when duty calls and all. :0008

Nope, daily shots. Everything is done at this point except the shots of Menopaur and Brevelle. She's got more puncture marks than a donkey's ass after a day at a kids birthday party. :142smilie

We should know where we stand this coming Friday. Hoping for good news.

Thanks D!

After my divorce I couldn't sleep. Did some reading and decided to get into cardio exercise as much as possible, treadmill and elliptical at my target heart rate for 30 minutes 4 days a week. Maybe it was the stress, not sure, but honestly the cardio really did help. Do a search on target health rate and maybe give it a try.......good luck.

Treadmill? exercise??? That is too much effort.. We are a lazy people... Why take the healthy natural root when you can just pop a pill? thats the american way:lol:

Obviously hope you have zero side effects, but my assistant has a trial coming up for his "DUI". He was pulled over with no shoes on and his dogs in the car at 3 am and told the officers he was going to the store. BAC was .00 and remembered nothing about the stop or getting in the car. Dont know how many people suffer from these types of serious side effects, but they are out there. From one insomniac to another good Luck!!!!!

I take it nightly, just make sure to take it about 20 mins before going to sleep. I have no side effects at all, I quit taking it before I got a divorce and had to get back on it because of not being able to sleep.

It does make you really hungry if you do not go to bed right away

best of luck Woodson

My best friend was put on Ambien and and an anti depressant/bi-polar med called Seroquel. That was Dec. 13, 2010. He ended his life by his own hand in February.

Throw that shit away immediately. It is dangerous and not fully understood.

I took my last one 15 months ago. I took one before bed and didn't really sleep that good, left for work at 4 am for a 52 mile commute and at 4:06am I guess it started to kick in. I ran head first into a telephone pole and totaled my car. Luckily I had my seat belt on.
Now I take Advil PM and havn't had any issues. The Ambien gave me migranes and I alwalys felt drowsy. I hear bad stories about this all the time. Charlie Sheen calls it the devil's aspirn. I agree.:scared

Sorry to hear about your friend. I do not fit into the category of bi polar or clinically depressed and dont take Serequel.

Going to trusttheDr. On this one but thanks for the concern
