I have little faith in the American people as it is....but if that "boy" Noriega wins it will be the last straw. Its like rooting against Duke every March....I dont care who wins as long as it isnt him. "Effeminate?" - you are far too kind.

Agreed. He has a great voice, but boy does he act like a little fairy. Just his posturing is a huge turnoff. Yuck.

Kristy Lee Cook is really freaking hot. I also do not think she has a shot to win, but DAMN!

After watching tonight I hate Noriega more than ever. I sense that if he had a choice in life he would become that thing where pole vaulters plant the pole....

and how does the plus size gal go over the hot gal...it really is odd that they keep putting through people we all know have zero chance to win...

if you believe the spoilers, he doesn't even make the top 24

but to be fair i did like his first song yesterday

.................................................

well he is gone. He sang the second song bad.

I dont think they appreciated him living in his car.

to make money you have to play futures right ?

Looks like a good year shaping up. They have a few really good singers as well as some eye candy this year.

from ACCESS HOLLYWOOD

from ACCESS HOLLYWOOD

We are just hours away from the ?American Idol? Top 24 being revealed. I?ve poured over the eight audition shows and carefully watched the Hollywood rounds. Here is the list of the ten singers I think will be garnering your votes this season. I?ve based it on a number of factors from 1 to 10 ? likeability, vocal ability, airtime and star quality.

David Archuleta ? Considering he won Star Search at age 12, David already has a leg up on the competition. This 17-year-old?s vocal paralysis has not kept him down, he wowed the judges singing ?Waiting on the World To Change? in San Diego and then nailed ?Heaven? during the Hollywood rounds. His significant amount of airtime will help him sail through to the Top 12 and his young fan base will keep him there. He already has a group of fans that are calling themselves the ?Arch Angels.?

Likeability ? 10
Vocal Ability ? 10
Airtime ? 9
Star Quality ?9
Idol Deja vu ? Jon Peter Lewis

*****

Asia?h Epperson ? This 18-year-old from Joplin, Missouri (pronounced Asia like the continent) brought me to tears when she sang ?How Do I Live? by Lee Ann Rimes as a tribute to her father who passed away two days before the audition in an car accident. This girl oozes star quality. With significant airtime, an interesting breathy voice that earned her three yeses from the judges and a beautiful smile she?s my number one female to watch.

Likeability ? 10
Vocal Ability ? 8
Airtime ? 9
Star Quality ? 10
Idol Deja vu ? Lisa Tucker

*****

Syesha Mercado ? This 20-year-old from Miami, Florida already proved she can make it to the big time appearing as a contestant on ABC?s ?The One?(an ?Idol? rip off). If she can power through a song like she did in Hollywood with a sore throat she?ll power right through to the Top 12. She?s a triple threat actress, singer and model who has already appeared in a slew of commercials including one where she was behind the wheel of a Ford - something she?ll be doing again soon when we see those cheesy Ford commercials.

Likeability ? 8
Vocal Ability ? 9
Airtime: 9
Star Quality ? 9
Idol Deja vu - Nadia Turner

*****

Brooke White - This 24-year-old nanny from Van Nuys will surely have two very unhappy twin girls when she sails into the Top 12 and out of her job as their caretaker. Her soulful rendition of ?Like A Star? by Corrine Bailey Rae earned her three yeses from the judges and her brave piano performance during the Hollywood rounds has upped her already significant airtime and will surely help her win fans.

Likeability ? 8
Vocal Ability ? 9
Airtime: 10
Star Quality ? 8
Idol Deja vu ? Carmen Rasmusen

*****

Kady Malloy - There were plenty of cute southern blondes this season but none stood out to fans more than this 18-year-old from Houston, Texas who can do vocal impressions of singers like Britney Spears, Shakira and Gary LeVox (can?t wait to hear that one). As we have learned from Carrie Underwood, country and American Idol go together well which is maybe what made Simon utter ?I?ve got a feeling about you? during her audition.

Likeability ? 9
Vocal Ability ? 9
Airtime: 7
Star Quality ? 9
Idol Deja vu ? Carrie Underwood

*****

Carly Smithson ? Before we even got a glimpse of her audition in San Diego in front of the judges, the ?Irish Girl? was causing controversy. Under her married name Carly Hennessy, she signed a multi-million dollar, six-album contract with MCA Records (Vivendi Universal) in 2000. She reportedly got a $100,000 advance and living expenses for two years while MCA spent $2.2 million on recording and promoting her album Ultimate High, that flopped. Idol fans sites began complaining that she was a ringer that the company behind ?American Idol? put in the show in hopes of giving her a second shot at success. She got a significant amount of airtime with her husband at their tattoo parlor making her quite memorable and with a great performance at the Hollywood round. Any publicity is good publicity and I think Carly?s will put her through to the Top 12.

Likeability ? 7
Vocal Ability ? 9
Airtime ? 10
Star Quality ? 8
Idol Deja vu ? Nikki McKibbin

*****

Amanda Overmyer - The ?rock & roll? nurse, as Randy Jackson dubbed her, follows in the footsteps of past female rockers Gina Glocksen and Nikki McKibbin. Considering how well they both did I think her motorcycle riding days will have to a backseat for a while as she zooms her way into the Top 12. Likeability ? 7
Vocal Ability ? 7
Airtime: 10
Star Quality ? 6
Idol Deja vu ? Gina Glocksen

*****

Danny Noriega ? Nigel Lythgoe promised this year we would not see another Sanjaya, yet something about this 17-year-old from Azusa, California makes me think otherwise. He already has the great hair going for him and a flamboyant personality ? and the fact that he was the very last audition on the very last show will help up his remembrance factor.

Likeability ? 8
Vocal Ability ? 7
Airtime ? 8
Star Quality - 7
Idol Deja vu ? Sanjaya Malakar

*****

David Hernandez - It?s rare for someone who is only shown during the Hollywood rounds to make such an impression that they can win enough fans to get through to the Top 12. David is that exception. His stellar performance of ?Love The One You?re With? proved he can command a stage and even Simon was impressed. He also has something in common with season six winner Jordin Sparks, they both competed in Arizona Idol.

Likeability ? 9
Vocal Ability ? 9
Airtime: 6
Star Quality ? 8
Idol Deja vu ? Phil Stacey

*****

David Cook - America made a mistake when they sent home Chris Daughtry in favor of Taylor Hicks and Katherine McPhee. Can this rocker right that wrong? Like Brooke Smith he has gotten some additional airtime during the Hollywood round promos for playing an instrument upping his recognizability factor big time.

Likeability ? 7
Vocal Ability ? 8
Airtime: 8
Star Quality ? 7
Idol Deja vu? Chris Daughtry

from vote for the worst

from vote for the worst

Who will be the first 2 VFTW picks? We have no idea! We never decide until after every contestant has performed, because we could find a diamond in the rough. But for now, here are the grades I?ve given each of the top 24 based on their look, singing ability, likelihood of causing drama, and overall Worstness. And unlike what Ryan Seacrest keeps saying, the talent is not the best it?s ever been. Sadly, only one person in the whole cast has even earned an A, but there are plenty of people nipping at his heels trying to steal the VFTW crown. My ratings are as follows:

Danny Noriega: A-Danny is ridiculously awesome because he?s overly campy and embraces it. VFTW loves campy. Danny?s the queen of silly faces and will probably give us quite a few fun quotes. Also, his personality may gain him lots of fans who would help us help him take out a frontrunner. The only downside to Danny is that so far his singing has been pretty good. But so was Sanjaya?s at this point. So you never know.

Ramiele Malubay: B+
Her idol is Jasmine Trias. That should say enough right there. But Ramiele is just another girl who mistakes screaming for singing. She also likes to take unflattering pictures of herself in bathrooms and out underage drinking. This could prove to make her much more interesting than we think she is right now.

Colton Berry: BWe know very little about him except that he?s a theatre geek who looks like Ellen Degeneres. And that is by far enough to give him a B in VFTW land.

Robbie Carrico: BHow do you go from dating Britney Spears, wearing see-through shirts, and dancing to pop choreography to pretending to be a rocker? Ask Robbie Carrico. His fake rocker persona is funny, and the pictures of his past are awesome, so a few missteps can get him the VFTW vote.

David Hernandez: B-Simon doesn?t like him at all and he does this outlandish growly thing when he sings. So far, he?s one of the standout bad vocalists, but will he have enough personality to become the VFTW pick? Only time will tell.

Syesha Mercado: B-She loses her voice all the time because she screams instead of sings, much like Ramiele. But Syesha is slightly more talented. Not by much. But if she loses her voice again, the VFTW love will stick around.

Amanda Overmyer: B-Her rocker look is over the top, much like her poorly dyed ratty hair. But I can?t help but love her for overdoing it so much. It?s very much in the VFTW style. If she tries to scream out disco songs, the judges will soon tire of her, and VFTW will gain a true Worster Heroine.

David Archuleta: C+David may be a pimped plant at this point, but for some reason, the judges and general viewing audience don?t seem to understand how bad this kid is. He takes annoyingly loud breaths while singing, makes goofy smiley faces, and forgets words to songs that he picks himself. He may start out as a frontrunner, but I have a feeling people will tire of him very quickly.

Asia?h Epperson: C+She?s probably only in the top 24 because of her sob story. Her rendition of ?I?m Going Down? was surprisingly capable, but she seems like the type who will have awful song choices and fall apart quickly. That and her fashion sense is awesomely tacky.

Jason Castro, Luke Menard, Jason Yeager, Garrett Haley: CI had to give them an average score because we?ve seen them do absolutely nothing. So they could be great or terrible. There?s no way to tell. I do love Garrett?s androgynous bad looks though.

Joanne Borgella: CShe seems like a very nice person and she?s an OK singer. But right now her vocals aren?t nearly as strong as some better girls, meaning if she can avoid elimination with her plus-sized sob story, VFTW might help her out later on when she?s in the big league with the better plants.

Amy Davis: CShe was clearly picked for the top 24 based on her looks, which means VFTW should love her. But she?s just too boring at this point to get behind. We need some scandals, Amy.

David Cook: C-He looks like the lovechild of Blake Lewis and Gina Glocksen who hasn?t showered in months. And he can?t sing. But the pimpage is strong with this one. The judges will praise whatever shit he sings, but eventually you just have to call a turd a turd.

Chikezie Eze: D+Right now he?s just some boring guy who sings like Clay Aiken. And the only sin that?s worse than being good for VFTW is being boring.

Alaina Whitaker: D+So far she?s just a white trashier version of Carrie Underwood. Not at all interesting enough to pick.

Kristy Lee Cook: DShe?s generic and boring, but the producers went to great lengths to make up a back story about her selling a horse, even though she was a singer in Nashville. Her personality and singing are too boring for a VFTW pick at this point anyway.

Alexandrea Lushington: DShe?s cannon fodder and boring cannon fodder at that.

Michael Johns: DAs annoying and awful as he is, the judges love him. He doesn?t get an F because he does suck hardcore, so there?s still some VFTW hope in there. But he?s gotten more pimpage this season than everyone except Carly, so he?s definitely not anywhere near the top of my list.

Brooke White: D-She?s way too favored by the judges to ever be the VFTW pick. She cries too much and acts too nice. That?s not VFTW at all.

Kady Malloy: D-
I couldn?t even pick her out of the crowd. When she appeared on screen, I said, ?Who?? I had to look back at my notes to remember she was the girl who did the Britney Spears imitation (which was pretty funny). She?s the most Interchangeable Blonde Whore ever, and VFTW never votes for the interchangeable. She?d have to pull out a real clunker to even be considered.

Carly Smithson: FWe?ve seen this bitch?s audition 3 times. Can she be any more pimped? They don?t want her to win, and her voice isn?t that great, but at this point she?s way too pimped to even remotely be considered for VFTW.

boys already taped two days ago and is airing tonight.

girls taped yesterday and is airing on wednesday.

as for song spoilers, i'll post them if i get them.

the theme for this week is songs from the 60's. contestants get to choose from a list of 70 or so songs. i think this is because some of the people they wanted to go farther last year at this stage picked stupid songs and got ousted early. contestants will be allowed to use instruments tonight and through the conclusion of the season.

as for the boys tonight....SunTzu, this might make you ill but:

According to vocal coach Debra Byrd... Danny Noriega will have a performance that "stands out" and will be very flashy and different than what we've seen of him before this. She also said that she thinks this will be the one that everyone will be talking about the next day.

good for me i guess.

There was an MSNBC link where the parents of all 24 finalists picked the songs for them to sing this week, but I can't find the link anymore. Not that it really matters.

There has been a ton of controversy this week about the irish broad Carly. Randy Jackson worked at the record company as head of talent and development when they put out Carly's record a few years back which bombed miserably. They obviously knew each other and the audtion was staged. It seems like a lot of talent this year isn't unknown and plenty have albums. Must be a reaction to the worst season of talent last year. I say who cares, but some do.

Theres also bikini pics of the chick with the big boobs amy davis out there. She's this years antonella, but not nearly as hot.

there are a bunch more pictures on rickey.org

Watching on tape as we speak....first two guys are just awful....and for Noriega to truly be different he would have to appear to actually belong singing the same night as the men...I hate rooting against your bet but in 7 years there has not been a more hateful contestant
