So. Cal
the problem is you au2001....you believe the sec is the most dominating conference, nobody else is close....end of story...

i, on the othehand have said numerous times that the sec is a great football conference probably 1-2 with the pac 10 and the big-10/big 12/acc (now) slightly behind but close. i choose to mock the scheduling and track record of the sec because everything i say about it is FACT.......a horrible occ road record with very few games vs bcs teams.

the sec strategy is very clear to me: split vs the 4-5 good teams in the sec (same ones each year uga.fla.tenn.lsu.bama or auburn).....play 6 other crap teams at home (3 occ losers, and in conf losers like vandy-kentucky-miss st-miss-etc...)..finish at 8-3/9-2 and tout your conference/schedule as tough......then split your bowl games......

as far as generating revune...im well aware about the need to do that....i'd jsut love to see some sec teams play at some of the better the pac-10, big-12 or big 10 teams once in a blue moon....

So, gjn23, any picks coming??? or just more criticisms and antagonistic posts?

We all know you hate everything about the SEC. You post it everyday in every thread. Did you used to date a girl who left you for an SEC football player or something? Let it go...

So. Cal
how many games are there this week???

what picks do you want...it's august 14th?

what i hate is blinded zombies who believe something without having a factual proof to back up what they spew.....the sec is a great football conference that's fun to watch (in conf games) but seriously lacks games vs opposing bcs teams

i was bored so i went back to 1985 and i found over 5 OOC games that UGA played outside the state of GA. They played at Clemson about 5 times and @south carolina 3 times BEFORE south carolina was in the SEC...

so this 30+ years comment is even more of a farce :mj07: :scared :scared

Thanks for correcting me. :thumb: I encourage anybody to correct me if I make an error. I have no problem admitting I was wrong when indeed I was. :mj01:

For some reason I thought UGA never played an OOC game out of their state. I remembered reading that somewhere. I know I didn't look it up. A reason why I did not claim it was a FACT but I did act as of it was! Oh well, point is I was wrong, and wrong by quite a few #'s. Thanks for the correction.

But that still doesn't change this FACT!

UGA has only played 1 OOC game outside the state of Georgia since 2003! :scared

UGA has only played 8 OOC games outside the state of Georgia since 1985! :scared

I will laugh at that all day long! PATHETIC!

Why should UGA have to play Top 25 OOC games when they get plenty of action against quality programs in the SEC?

Since 1992 they have played the following games

13 times on a neutral field against Florida
7 times at Auburn
6 times at Tennessee
several others here and there at LSU and at Bama.
there is no reason for them to go schedule "tough" OOC games,
just being in the SEC gives them at least 3 or 4 tough match-ups year in and year out.

Also, I did a little research and seems as though Southern Cal has only averaged about 65K over the last 5 or 6 years Scott. That's a little less than the 85k you stated.

How do we know all these teams are so great when you having nothing to judge them on? I am sorry, judging teams only through conf. play is not a valid argument. These SEC teams rack up easy wins in OOC play which gives the false allusion to top quality teams. WINS gets you ranked in the top 25. Saying you beat a 5-1 team in conf. play is fun to boast about. But when that 5-1 team racked up 3 of their 5 wins against $hit OOC, why brag about that? That 5-1 team will be ranked hight in the top 25! WINS/LOSSES gets you ranked in the top 25. WINS "can" give a false allusion to greatness. I prefer to look at WHO a team plays and WHERE a team plays. Not just their record.

Are there good teams in the SEC? THERE ARE GREAT TEAMS IN THE SEC! I think the SEC might be #1 conf. this season. But I do not think they are superior to anyone because there is NOTHING to judge them on to claim that argument.

Wasn't the question about what your team charges for tickets? Should I have given him the ticket prices from 5 years ago? Or the average ticket price from the last 30 years? I gave him the ticket prices and attendance average from last year and this year. But you are right before Carroll arrived USC averaged about 65k and that actually is kind of impressive for an LA sports team. Especially when you consider that UCLA plays across town. USC/UCLA is the only major cross town rivalry in college football. Pretty unique!

I don't know why the SEC should get a pass for not playing quality OOC games on the road. It is exactly what prevented Auburn from playing in the BCS Championship Game.

Living in Seattle, I know both Michigan and Ohio State have played the Huskies in Seattle, recently. The same goes for Notre Dame and Nebraska and Oklahoma will play there in the future. As for Washington State, an Auburn game could draw over 60,000 in Seahawk Stadium.

Washington State was trying to get away from these one-sided deals, but it has proved difficult. It usually is a positive, as it gives exposure to the program and prepares the team for the upcoming Pac-10 season. A tough OOC game on the road will do that.

I look forward to the Auburn game. I was wondering why the Pac-10 didn't play more games against the SEC. A SEC policy against OOC games on the road is probably the biggest obstacle.

The SEC has no such policy. The fact that the Pac-10 home games cannot come close to matching the gate from an SEC venue is the biggest obstacle preventing SEC schools traveling out west. College football is about making money, and SEC schools are not going to piss away millions of dollars to schedule an OOC away game to appease anyone. That is not meant to start controversy, that is just a fact.

Also, Washington is not a quality program in my book. 14 combined wins in the past 3 seasons, playing in the fifth best conference. Not very impressive in my book.

Yo, Auburn, I am just trying to find a way to get you into the BCS Championship Game. I would have thought going undereated in the SEC would get the job done, but Troy State, Georgia Southern and Southwest Missouri State held you back.

Now, if you had gone out west and played a Pac-10 team, ANY Pac-10 team, you would have been in. ...BUT YOU SOLD YOUR SOUL FOR THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER.

As you say, College Football is all about the money. ...I can't remember if you or Utah finished 2nd in the Nation?

Troy State would have taken Washington and WSU down last year.

And FYI, Utah "we didn't beat a Top 25 team all year" did not finish 2nd.

You see, Old School, that's why you all should have had the balls to play us. You only get a chance for a National Championship every fifty years or so. No guts, no glory.

P.S. Thanks for clearing up the Utah thing for me, it had slipped my mind. I DO know USC won the National Championship.

What I am saying is that HAD Auburn played Washington State, especially on the road, your chances for playing in the BCS National Championship Game would have been much greater. Instead, you opted for three cupcakes and it cost you dearly.

It looks like we will get our chance against you guys. The team should be pretty good, so I am already looking forward to it. While it is a given that Washington State can't hold a candle to the "Great" Auburn, we have beaten two Top Five teams in the last three seasons (USC and Texas) and were a Top Ten team from 2001-2003. ...I may be mistaken, but I think we BEAT USC in the same season Auburn lost to them.

yes, you can base the entire reputation of a conference on a game that was lost with a 3rd string QB playing the entire second half.

Wasn't Tenn. one of the best teams in the SEC last year? Yeah, there was a reason they were playing with the third string QB - Because ND knock the sh*t out of the 1st string QB... LOL - injuries are a part of the game cowboy. Big 10 is a lot stronger than the SEC this year.

Coug LJ, you are so original. Really, I haven't heard any of that before.

Another pac-10 fan whose team wasn't even .500, trying to talk shit about Auburn going 13-0.

All you guys with "little man" syndrome make me laugh. Looking forward to WSU coming to the plains and getting thumped in front of 87,000.
