I retired here in Austin Texas . Being a New Yorker almost 99% of the teachers, police and firemen retire in North Carolina or Florida. Almost 99% of the people that retire here in Austin Texas are from Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana B-10 country and almost 65% from California. I went to North Texas St back in the late 60's and early 70's and married a native Texan from Paris, Texas. The day I graduated I left Texas and taught coached and became a school administrator in upstate NY for over 30 years. My wife who was a neonatal nurse always wanted to go back and retire in her native state. I agreed since cost of living ,no state income Taxes weather etc. I agreed to retire in Texas The big question is where in Texas. I originally wanted Denton where North Texas State is located But it gets cold in North Texas in the winter. I always thought about Corpus Christie near the gulf of Mexico. Padre island somewhere where the weather is somewhat tropical My oldest daughter went to U Texas in Austin My son went to East Carolina my other daughter to East Stroudberg St in Pa and my youngest daughter to Delhi in upstate NY .
