Well the draws have been made and you would be lucky to get anything better than -200 on The Fed to win it all. Too short but I think he wins....I may put 10u on him but will wait for a better pice.

I like Berdych .5u each way at 66/1 (33/1 to make the final).

I was already .5u on Ljubicic @35/1 but I have just added .5u each way @33/1 (+1650 to make the final).
Neither will face The Fed until the final but if I have this figured right, they will face each other in the 4th round.
Lubie looks to have a smooth ride the 1st 3 rounds.

I will be keeping an eye out on Hernych and there looks to be a big gamble on Murrray to knock out Hewitt should they meet in round 2.

The hoe's;

I've heard rumours that Michaella Krajicek has been looking good on the court. Apparently she can play tennis too! To be honest, I can't remember ever watching her play. Maybe someone else can.

Either way, her 5-0 record this year was in her Australian tune-up (Hobert) and supposedly, the odds will continue to drop on this filly.

.5u each way @ 125/1 (62.5/1 to make the final).

Michaella Krajicek is certainly a future female star to watch out for as she only just turned 17 a week or so ago and does look to have a good game. I say 2007 may be her big year. As for early season form she is actually 7-2. She went 2-2 in the Hopman Cup prior to Hobart. Also, Hobart is not the strongest tournament but winning form is still good form.

Good luck to all this tournament :mj14:

Day One Picks

Melzer +225 to beat Ginepri x 0.5

Dont really think Ginepri is the same player on these courts than back in the US. Ginepri does have a 2-0 h2h against Melzer, but one was an epic five set Davis cup tie, and the other went all the way on grass.

Henman +101 to beat Tursunov x 2.5

Cant have Tursunov favourite over Henman. Henman seems to be talking a good game this year, and will be extra motivated to avenge his Wimbledon defeat. Tursunov seems to go about a little over rated for my liking, and having seen him play against Monfils in Qatar, I cant say I was over impressed.

Zabaleta +163 to beat Wang x 1.25

Acknowledge that Zabaleta has not seen much gametime recently, but he has vast experience of playing in grand slams. The same cannot be said of Wang who has never got past the first round of any major, and at this stage in his short career, dont agree with him going off so short against Zabaleta.

Youzhny +120 to beat Malisse x 1

Very even match up this. Taking the value play on Youzhny, who very neary beat Nadal here last year.

Baghdatis to beat Gimelstob/Kohlschrieber to beat Dlouhy x 2 +105

Playing the double here. Baghdatis should really be way too classy for journeyman Gimelstob, while I am looking for a big year off the young German who has impressed in the warms up to this.

Good luck :)

Thanks for the info on Krajicek. The itf site just says she is 5-0 this year. I guess the Hopman was before new years. I realise there weren't any big names in those wins but hey.....that's why she is 125/1. I got the heads up from a tennis oddsmaker.

I'm usually picky about selections and like to take dogs. I can's see much value in the 1st round.

That said, I am throwing away 1U on Acasuso @ +700 to beat Blake and 1U on Calleri @ +275 to beat Ancic.

Also going to start off with my breadwinner of going against Henman. Tursonov -110 for 1U. I haven't seen Henman play for awhile but saw Tursonov in his last and hought he looked good enough.

YTD 0-1...-1u

Going to add one in the womens tonight :

Razzano -160 to beat Dokic x 1.5

Dokic game has gone. Dont see her causing Razzano too many problems tonight.

Adding .5u on Hernych to win @1000/1. No I haven't been drinking.....I just think that his section is well within reach of winning and he's already won the 1st rnd. If anyone has Betfair, there is still some money available at this massive price.

Been a bit fortunate tonight with Zabaleta retiring when a few games from defeat, meaning thet bet is void.

The multiple/parlay bet has won, which means the Henman-Tursunov match will probably decide wether I begin with a profit or loss. Looks like the whole board is against me on this play! :scared

The dogs don't bite but Tursonov gets an easy win. Tiny Tim has totally lost his game and should retire. He showed no heart, his serve is 50 % of what it once was and his 2nd serve is a joke. I can't see any good prices opposing him anymore. On that note, Tursonov's 2nd serve looked a bit of a joke too and Robredo will be escorting him out of the tournament in Rnd 2.

And whatever Anders plays!

Haven't seen any signs of Kick yet. No chalk kings either.

Aus Open : 2-3 -0.98

Started off with small loss. Dont think Henman has such a bad game that he should retire, but he is certainly lacking the fight to win. He had some nice support courtside, and even that could not moivate him.

Day Two Picks

Starace -150 to beat Delic x 1.5

I feel a lot of these Americans are beatable and average players away from US hard courts. Starace is mainly a clay court player, but has shown potential on hard courts, and is more importantly 8-7 in Grand Slams.

Chela +155 to beat Murray x 2

Murray is going around way too short for my liking against a player of Chelas experience. There is a lot of hype surrounding the Brit which has probably drove down his price, but as a result, Chela is a good value play.

Rochus +160 to beat Vliegen x 0.75

An all Belgian match up, but Vliegen has impressed in the lead up to this, with a win over Srichiphan, and then pushing Ljubicic all the way. However, he is short in experience in slams (2-5), while Rochus is playing his 45th match at this level.

Clement -125 to beat Mathieu x 3

Best play of the round for mine. Clement is a tough competitor at this time of the year. Only Hewitt could beat him last year, and having suffered an awful defeat at the hands of Ancic this year, has gone on a five match winning run, before losing to James Blake in three sets last week. He is 50-30 in grand slams, and faces Mathieu, who has gone down to two simple defeats this year already.

Kim +100 to beat Levy x 1

Two journeymen matchup, but I feel layers are looking a little too much into Levys recent improved form at challenger level. Kim is a tough opponent on tour, and I am have him a clear favourite to win this.

Good Luck All :)

YTD 1-5...-4u

Hopefully I can get on the right side today as I think there is a great value play in Hernych. Ancic has not been that impressive over the last couple months and I priced him at -230.

2u Hernych @ +410.

I didn't see Robredo's win but I saw Tursonov's and he was mediocre. You can't fault a guy for just doing what it takes to win but anyone could've beaten Tiny Tim in that 1st rnd.....even Kick!!!

2u Robredo @ +107.

Wawrinka @ +350 over Nalbandian.
Baghdatis @ +140 over Stepanek
Malisse @ +129 over Johansson

Day early picks;

Chela @ +250 over Hewitt. I really think Hewitt was lucky in his last. Maybe it's just me but over the last few years, he has had more tennis luck than any other player. But again, you can't fault a guy for doing what it takes to win.

Luzzi @ +500 over Coria

Aus Open : 4-7 -4.13

Day started off well yesterday with wins for Chela and Kim, but went downhill from there on! :cursin:

Day Three Picks

Baghdatis +150 to beat Stepanek x 1.5

Very even match up for me. Baghdatis proved his worth by beating the likes of Ljubicic and Robredo here last year, and has come into this tournament in good form. Stepanek has proven himself to be world class over the last season, but is vulnerable enough. Very close to a 50-50 match up.

Johansson to beat Malisse/Gaudio to beat Burgsmuller +114 X 2

I dont see Burgsmuller giving Gaudio too many problems, while Johansson should be a bit too sharp for Belgian Malisse. He is unbeaten in 2005, and carries a 3-1 h2h advantage.

Good Luck :)
