I doubt if she chips any in this weekend like she did today in the Pro-AM. Judging by her first 10 holes it looks like she would of shot Under 75.5 (Olympic Total)

So which way do you go with her total for the first day? If she gets off to a bad start then i think she could possibly have a breakdown with all the people following her. If she gets off to a good start then i think she has a shot at 72. The first 5 holes are key for her. Have no idea what time she tees off at either but im leaning toward Over 75.5 -120 at Olympic..

Ageecee What you doing down here bud?You still got your stable of race horses. I took a few stances against Annika 1st rd myself. Primary reason is I believe there is good possibilty it might be only shot a getting a wager. If wrong and she plays better than I expect there will be opts in following rd(rds)to adjust. Pro am round means squat with tees and pins however with rain appears even man upstairs is giving her a best shot. We'll see.

Was down here trying to get a feel for her 1st round play. Want to play her to not make cut but price too steep so was looking at her first round total. My horse stable is about to be down to zero. My partners dad stable had a great winter and spring. He has a horse in tomorrow nite at Indiana Downs in the 5th race. ML is 9/5.

Interesting that Annika got rained out of the back nine today and she starts off tomorrow from the 10th tee at 8:58 am.. Hope it pours tonite in dallas..

WOW I just the odds at $plays Stan. That a BIG spot 25+ strokes for a tourney.

I think I will forgo any 1st round selections till I can see how things are set up(get to view Annika's entire rd,thank you Annika).
I have sneaking suspicion that one may be able to throw course form stats out the window at least 1st 2 days. Logic tells me sponsers and CBS would like to see this go into the week end. Will be interesting to compare scoring ave from past years. Was lookin for heads up match with her and Sergio as he fired 76-74 last year. Annika's birdie was quite unusual yesterday.Driver short of par 3 (no typo) and chip in.
She sure has added excitement to this event and while I doubt she does, will be pulling for to make it to the week end as it will add to the excitement and should be tons of betting opts in virgin territories.

365 sure has 2 interesting 3balls, one with Haas as 2nd pick(+150) with Austin and Williamson and Mick -110 with Brooks and Sutton. I know I vowed to fade Mick till driver come back, but in wet conditions will have to look at these 2 in cominations on some 3ball parlays.

Annika Sorenstam will need the finest golf of her career to return a score of 280 on this examination. Making it through to the weekend means staying close to that pace through the first two days. And it needs to come with the eyes of the world and about 113 discerning peers staring down the back of her neck in her maiden effort in some very unfamiliar territory.

Annika certainly chose well in terms of a manageable shotmaker's venue and a small field. Looking at events this week, Annika was engaging, prepared and thoroughly professional before the media on Tuesday. She could not have dreamed of a better pairing. On the other hand, while a firm and fast setup (without or with tough winds) would seem likely to cause the most difficulty, I think Annika's game plan is to shoot at greens and not fire at flags, so the more receptive conditions may be far less beneficial than the added demands of taking on a significantly longer beast.

The course conditions and forecast are favorable for the field with regard to taking the cut line below last year's 143 standard. 142 is the projection here.

By the numbers, five birdies and only two double bogies over the course of two rounds would be a brave and brilliant achievement. But that still doesn't leave much room for any rough patches. Even a receptive course will be set up to demand more skill and imagination from the short game than the most diabolical of LPGA course setups, and Annika is not feared and revered for the way she pours in saving putts. A 65 in any old practice round on this setup would have been equal to or better than any 59 in her resume.

The yardstick for greatness is major championships, the ability to hone your game and peak for a select few opportunities, and then capitalize on the best of those opportunities. So how has Annika fared in recent U.S. Women's Opens? Annika won in 1996 with scores of 70-67-69-66, and in the six U.S. Opens since, she has broke 70 exactly twice (the yardages for those seven Opens were from 6207 to 6540 yards). Another familiar and available comparison is the prestigious Kraft Nabisco (fka Nabisco Dinah Shore), which has been played at a maximum distance of 6520 yards and at a par of 72 that is probably less stringent than a USGA championship; during the last seven years, Annika has never posted a total lower than 139 for any two consecutive rounds in the Nabisco. Colonial itself also proved a stern test for the women way back in the 1991 U.S. Women's Open, when 283 prevailed at a par of 71 for 6340 yards.

I appreciate achievement in golf, and my tag along little sister is now a Class A PGA pro, which adds to my enjoyment in watching the ladies play. Whether she is going good or bad, Annika has a way of going about the course at a high strung tempo that has let her down in the past. Annika is pushing herself into a very different arena to test herself and learn to handle really tough circumstances, but if I am not mistaken, Annika has seized exactly two majors in the last six years. Simply put, Annika is crossing a huge chasm on Thursday as she walks from the practice tee to the first tee. Sorenstam will be trying to horde pars, and that hasn't been good enough on the PGA Tour for some time. These guys are good.

ADDING:

Annika Sorenstam First Round Under 75'(+100) for 1* @ Olympic
On the whole, this seems to solidly complement my wager to Miss Cut(-400).

Lost:--- a lilttle further note on your majors angles. When she 1st came out that she would play "for the challenge" in this event I put this little remark on lpga forum and it was not taken too kindly to :p

If she wants a challege why don't she try and win an Open(British or U.S. on lpga tour) since they are set up closest to PGA standards as it appears in her last 6 years at each shes 0 wins 3 cuts and collectively 31 strokes over par.Would seem a little improvement there would be quite a challenge

OUTRIGHTS:

Justin Leonard(25/1) for 0.60* e.w. @ Bet365
Peter Lonard(66/1) for 0.60* e.w. @ 5 dimes
Scott Verplank(23/1) for 0.60* e.w. @ 5 dimes

Keeping the faith with Leonard and Lonard from last week when I thought I was catching them ahead of the curve. Verplank appeals as relaxed and confident again after talking about the strain he felt from all of last year during the buildup to his first Ryder Cup.

MATCHUPS:

Lonard(+110) over Campbell for 1* @ 5 dimes

3 BALLS (Thursday):

PARLAY: Lehman(+188) over Mediate/Calcavecchia WITH Janzen(+175) over McCarron/Maruyama WITH Wilson(-120) over Barber/Sorenstam for 0.75* @ 13.50/1

1st rd 2-1-1

Props Annika
over 75.5 loss
under 76.5 win

to finish 1st rd 73 or worse win

3ball wilson over Annika and Barber push

2nd rd plays
Wilson +105 over Annika and Barber @ Gamebookers
Annika -115 Holes over par, under 5 1/2 @ $plays

Interesting day yesterday except for all the commercials.
If one thing amazed me it was her accuracy with driver.
Astounding missing one fairway and only 4 GIRS the entire day.
Do I think she can compete on pga tour, nope. When as acknowleded by her as having one of her best rds ever, she gets what the horse players would call a perfect ride on conditions, tees (afternoon played bout 1.5 harder) and plays an almost perfect rd,tee to green, and beats only 27 players?
I don't see much room for improvement but lots on the downside.
Will be pulling for her to make cut but think chances very remote.
Do like her chances of not having over 5 holes played over par whichs is tons better than score of under 5 over par.
Will wait for weekend when these greens firm up and maybe get a little wind for any other matches. No wind called for again today which is quite unusual for Texas. I think someone upstairs is saying "go girl" :)

Annika played a round for the ages yesterday. Hoganesque. "Where were you when . . ." "I didn't really miss a single shot today," Sorenstam said. "It was a great day ... more than I could ever have expected. I'm very, very pleased with that. I would love to make the cut. But if I play [the second round] like I did today, then it really doesn't matter."

A tough act to follow, but something a little less flawless will still present opportunities for something magical. Annika's first chip shot of the tournament seems likely to be simple and equally likely to be executed center cut perfect. And something better with the putter is only a must. Regardless, putting Thursday behind her and playing with the focus that today is the moment she has waited a long time for is the only thing that will get it done. But she showed it can be done.

( . . .The world's top-ranked woman's player found trouble only once, in the left-hand rough at the par-4 fifth, part of the famed "Horrible Horseshoe." Sorenstam found the green at No. 5 but three-putted from 63 feet for her first of two bogeys . . . Her first putt there was like most of her other birdie tries: short on speed. Sorenstam saw 11 such putts die before the hole. Some of that, she said, stemmed from playing it safe on holes with tricky pin placements. Other times, it was nerves . . . "I was a little tentative all day long," said Sorenstam, who needed 33 putts over her 18 holes (rank: 109th). "And when I get a little nervous, I get a little tentative. That's what happened . . . "I kept telling myself, 'Hit it.' Then I would hit it and suddenly have a long putt coming back. ... So, I've got to work on the speed, especially on my lag putts, and I will figure it out." . . .However, her nerves weren't evident from tee to green. Sorenstam, using either driver, 4-wood or 7-wood, played from the short grass on 92.2 percent of her driving holes, and none of her 18 shots into greens -- struck mostly with 6- and 7-irons and usually from 160 to 170 yards -- found trouble . . . Hence, the 18 birdie putts. Hence, the missed opportunities . . . "Yeah ... I left a few putts out there," Sorenstam said. "But under these circumstances, I knew I was going to make some mistakes. And if these are the mistakes I make, I'll take them." . . . Her remedy? A session on the practice green but not an alteration to her game plan -- even though she'll start her second round below the projected cut line . . ."I'm going to play conservative [today] as well," Sorenstam said. "But if I have shorter clubs in, I might go for the flag more.")

:) Agree Stan Lot of room for improvement on putting. The 4 greens she missed she was less than drivers length off green.
Pretty impressive accuracy tee to green would be understatement.
Sure thought books would adjust odds today but not much with exception on $plays stroke matches which I could absolutely not believe yesterday and while todays are down a tad 4.5 is still huge chunk to give any player.
Wesx still have props to line on her scoring but I am not thinking they will put up any bargins but am waiting to see just the same.

Hello All

Well the Colonial is coming back to bite me. I was short of David Toms' finishing position @ 20 on the spreads. He's withdrawn after starting the tournament so he will make up at 50 (the maximum) So I'm 30 points down! Anyone know what happened to him?

Well done Annika by the way.

adding prop @ ****** under props.
Annika +115 over 1.5 brides or eagles
Surely a person never over a yard from 18 greens in regulation can scratch a total of 3 birdies in 36 holes.:D
Having to play the front 1st I think maybe she stumbles thru the horse shoe before nerves are settle and has to play more aggressively and get out the play not to lose mode and into the scoring mode.

WSEX still haven't put lines up on their listed scoring props which might prove interesting. Still waiting!

From the Associated Press:

TOMS OUT: Right when David Toms was hitting his stride, he injured his back Thursday morning and was forced to withdraw from the Colonial.

"I felt a little twinge this morning, but I stretched it out and it was feeling OK," Toms said. "I hit my drive and about went down to my knees."

Toms played out of the hole -- he made par -- but realized he couldn't hit any more shots and walked in.

Coming off a solid season but without a victory, Toms finally got back on track with a dominant victory in the Wachovia Championship two weeks ago. He followed that with a tie for sixth last week at the Byron Nelson Classic.

His plans?

"Go home and see the doctor," Toms said.

He was not planning to play next week at the Memorial, so Toms will have three weeks to get ready -- and get healed -- for the U.S. Open.

2nd round update: 1-3-0; -4.20 units

Ames/Beem LOST by 3
Day/Pavin TIED (Push)
Parry/Lickliter LOST by 4
Sorenstam/Leonard WON by 2.5
Sorenstam/Verplank LOST by 0.5

Mid-point update:

Furyk 3rd
Verplank 29th
Estes mc

The Sorenstam adventure is over and it was fun while it lasted. Didn't manage to get the 'make cut' prop, but she showed that she was good enough to play over the weekend and it was only some inexperience with PGA Tour-type greens that prevented full advantage to be made of a ridiculous line. Elsewhere gave back a lot of yesterday's gains, but Furyk should fancy his chances with the look of the leaderboard.
