They certainly did, including a missed penalty. Should have had that one.

I have a small over parlay in the last two games today for some action.

Still undecided about tomorrow.

This is what I played for tomorrow:

USA/Dutch FH Draw +102

Usa to Advance/Argentina to win to Nil +348

I think all the weight is off the USA's back. They actually have played very well and I expect this to continue. Maybe the advance bet is a little wishful thinking, but this team has nothing to lose and a ton of talent. If they can score, they will win. The FH draw is the primary bet.

Going to apologize to the board for my picks not being as good as I wanted in the group stage. It is hard to explain but I tried to do too much. I agreed to provide some picks to an old friend for a service he was providing while not trying to overlap. It was a stupid thing to do and I should not have done it, but he was an old friend who I wanted to help out, but I like this board and really thought I could do both. Hubris, and maybe stupidity, on my part. While I was not terrible, it was not up to my normal standards. Just too hard to please everyone. I expect to do better moving forward and will post when I can. I will be traveling a lot over the next few weeks so will do the best I can.

These next round of games may not be great. I am expecting the chalk to rise to the top so some parlays may be in order. We saw many upsets in the group stage, but I am not expecting many moving into this round and we have some mismatches on paper. The group stages always cause many teams not to play to their full potential, but I am expecting more in this round. There are a couple lesser not teams that can contend (Morocco and Japan) but most will likely fade. Makes it difficult to bet given the odds and I do not want to lay huge juice at this point.

I got a huge break with the Brazil to win the group bet (which gave me some serious heart burn) as I had a lot riding on that. I got all that money back so going to be judicious in this first round as I think the best plays are yet to come.

Overall, it has bee an interesting WC. Biggest thing for me is to see some parity finally. Germany, Belgium and Denmark gone, only two South American teams moving on while 3 Asian teams do is a big deal. Actually it is unprecedented. VAR has gone mostly as expected (too much tech for me) but the penalty calls have been a little inconsistent. Uruguay has a serious argument today as that German ref really screwed that game up. I love that fact that real time has been added to the halves and game. This is something that has been missing from the game and I am glad to see it changed. Hopefully it continues post WC so teams realize that injury stalls and late meaningless substitutions will not work.

Having a big USA party in the morning so early bed time to me. I wish you all the best of luck for the rest of the tournament.

Chalk day tomorrow

England/France +102

I like both teams to win so this is the easiest way to play it for me. I trust France more to cover the goal line and not against playing them -1.5.

Easy winner, chalk rising to the top as expected in this round. Going a similar route for tomorrow:

Brazil/Croatia +163

While Japan is playing well, I simply think Croatia is better and has been here before. This is will be a tight game but I will take the plus money and pair it with Brazil to get a decent payout.

Unfortunately i think croatia needed to win in reg time for that parlay to hit. Brazil and croatia both to advance in a parlay was -145 on heritage when i played it.

brazil - .5 and Croatia -.5 parlay was +165 on heritage when i played it today.

i think bason was in same boat.

that said, thx so much for posting bason! It is appreciated!

Yup, it was a ML parlay so that one was not a winner. I had them to advance also but I did not post that one. I should have noted that if I like a team now, I also usually use the advance line in parlays. I have many, many open parlays from the Brazil game, so I am going to close them slowly. First one and my primary play for the day is:

Portugal/Swiss Un 2.5

I hate playing unders and do not post them often, but I expect this is be a very tight game from two opponents very familiar with each other. Both are clinical and play close to the vest, so I am expecting a 1-0 or 1-1 game.

I like this Morocco team and I think they will give Spain all they handle. I have the Ov 2 and Morocco TT Ov .5 in two different parlays.

Will be on France for sure and likely the Dutch.
