DTB,

Agree with you 100% on your Lewis play (+140 seems very generous on what appears close to a 50/50 bet).

Pity I don't have an account with Olympic but I will certainly be opening one soon !!

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
Thursday, again. My damn life (or was it NCAA basketball?) took precedence this week. I'll try these.

Matchups @ 1*:

Luke Donald(-115) over John Senden @ 5dimes
I like what I see.

JL Lewis(+140) over Joel Edwards @ Olympic
I like what DTB saw.

Outrights @ 0.40*:

Justin Leonard(70/1) @ 5dimes
Surely he has no chance.

Lee Trevino: "Arnie has more people watching him park the car than we do on the course."

Some articles of interest from Orland Sentinal>
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/golf/

I like the one in particular on Tigers win last year.Needing birdie on final hole he hits a duck snort apparently going OB but hits spectator in the neck,as that wasn't enough of a break his girlfriend picks ball up which affords Tiger free drop and a birdie to win. Tiger should be tough here. Can't think of many tracks that set up better for him.His high hit long irons will be big plus here along with his length.

1st rd results 4-1

Funk -110 over Perry @ 5Dimes >loss by 2
Cink -110 over Sutherland @ 5dimes>win by 10
Mediate +100 over Kendall @ Moneyplays >win by 7
Lewis +110 over Edwards @ Moneyplays >win by 5
McCarron +110 over Estes Win by 1

72 holes standings
Lewis/Edwards 5up

Outrights none have shot themselves in foot and none on leader board either.

Bad move playing Funk despite tee times. His streak of under par did end.

2nd rd plays Oly 72 hole cont
Herron +180 over Hart currently 2 down
Haas +110 over Stricker 1 down

Herron plays very well here for most part.Drove and putted terribly yesterday and managed to hang around.Don't like him being 1 over current cut but can't expect cake walk @ +180
Haas been playing very well of late.Played much better yesterday than score indicates with triple on par 3.

Not many tee time descepency's lined today, however scoring conditions projected to be calm both rds.If like yesterday would have reversed McCarron/Estes wager and took Estes despite
-120 line @ 5dimes.

Mid-point update:

Estes/Olazabal Trails by 4
Leonard/Olazabal Trails by 6
Love/Olazabal Trails by 5
Janzen/Fasth Trails by 4
Lehman/Westwood WON by 11

Singh 17th
Estes 39th
Azinger 28th

Not a good week so far to oppose Olly, but I still in relation to my original post about him I don't understand why he is currently 7th. He ranks 64th in driving distance, 44th in driving accuracy, 35th in greens in regulation and 19th in putts per greens in regulation. So how is he 7th??? At least all the losing plays have another 36 holes to make amends and the only play to the decided at the cut was a double-unit win.

I know what you mean about Olly, it is painful to watch. I have not seen him this week, but he does tend to prefer the first or second cut of rough, or starting his putts from greenside bunkers or the rough, again. I do not know how he does it, but he has a brilliant touch to keep getting the pars and birdies.
The Masters beckons!!
Vijay is the opposite, he hits the fairways, hits the GIR's, then seems to miss the putts. Yet he is 10th for putts in GIR! If he sunk a few more putts, and not long ones either, he would be up with Tiger !

At the cut: 2-1 all matches including Oly cont are final
72 hole
Lewis +140 vs Edwards win by 7
72 hole cont @ Oly
Herron +180 vs Hart win by 2
Haas +110 vs Stricker loss by 3

outrights: all made cut and a pair in striking distance
Oly and Hoch tied for 7th Zinger 28th Janzen 62nd

Lady luck smiled on Herron match as Hart had quadruple to miss cut by 1.Still would have liked chances had it went full 72.

3rd rd
adding outright to place only 1/2 unit @ Oly
Garcia 6/1 Like 4 spots much better than 8/1 to win w/o Tiger and place finish will cover all place wagers.

72 cont @ Oly
Cink -105 vs Huston currently 1 down
Huston swithing to crosshanded not sign of confidence and greens being verticut prior to tourney will reduce bermuda grain, his fortay.

3rd rd plays
Singh -115 vs Duval @5dimes
Will oppose Duval weekly till he finally beats somebody. Don't like his chances here where he has never busted 70 in 12 rds.

Estes -105 vs Goosen @ 5dimes
Not liking this a lot but #'s say a go

Herron +100 vs Kuchar @ 5dimes
Giving Lumpy another shot on course form.Kuchar rank of 122 in 3rd scoring ave a plus also.

Lehman +110 over Sluman @ $plays
Odd line? Lehman plays well here and last 3 3rd rd scores have been 68-68-67 Gonna give him shot at these #'s.

Stan. Don't know bout Oly and as we know whats right 1 day is subject to be wrong the next. Chose him in outrights thinking Euro's would have adv bouncing them on these firm greens, however that never developed with unusually soft fronts but has made scrambling a premium which he does excell at. His sudden change in driving has made his prior stats obsolete (for now) Here is quote from Orlando Sentinal

Jose Maria Olazabal groused about his performance Friday off the tee, but he has already catapulted from No. 188 in driving distance in 2001 to 25th this year at 286 yards a swipe, an almost incomprehensible increase of 20 yards. The clubmakers at MacGregor won't like this much, but Ollie swears it isn't the equipment.

"What yardage?" he said. "Last year I couldn't hit one ball in the middle of the clubface. I'm just telling the truth. I could not hit the ball properly. When you start hitting the ball on the clubface, obviously, the ball will go longer."

One thing, he is about as subject as Daly to go adrift. If he doesn't finish in top 4 I hope he spits the bit entirely:)

DTB another fine start in the first round. You talked about Kuchar being ranked 122 in 3rd round play. I've been looking for stats like that but have not been able to find it anywhere (or I don't know how to use the data base). Could you tell me where I can find this. Thanks and continued good luck. By the way played a small parlay on your 3 plays at 5 dimes in the 3rd round so good luck to me too:)

Stan,
Re Olazabal's stats... you know you can use stats to say anything.... perhaps it boil's down to how the players put it together on certain holes...

you can have a poor driving stat but if you play a good recovery approach the poor drive is saved

a green in regulation can be missed but a decent chip saves that

the putting stat can be average overall with lots of 2 putts but if they drain a decent one now and again that's enough

Had to have a saver on him after completing rd 3 just 3 behind and Ernie not doing as well as hoped (Bob Estes where are you?).
Although I overlooked Olazabal at the start would hate to miss a win so close to the Masters and I like the final rd pairing with Sergio. Took the early W Hill show at 28/1.

He clearly has some game but can he put it up when he plays with the big boys. He may have beat Woods' score yesterday but he screwed up big time from 16. He had an opportunity to send a message to Woods.

Today he comes out with Phil Mick just 2 off the lead and ...........

I've seen enough now of Scott Mc. He will have to improve his mental strength before I put the money down again.

Final update:

Matchups: 2-3; -0.29 units

Estes/Olazabal LOST by 9
Leonard/Olazabal LOST by 10
Love/Olazabal LOST by 7
Janzen/Fasth WON by 1

Outrights: 0-3; -3.00 units

Singh 15th
Estes 45th
Azinger 25th

Not a great tournament, but really just not a good decision to oppose Olly. He was the cause of all the matchup losses - and quite heavy ones as well - while the double-unit play on Lehman over Westwood did at least ensure a break-even week on the matchups. Singh had every chance of finishing 2nd to Woods or at least within five places, but was again found wanting.

PGA Tour ytd
Matchups: 21-30; -24.43 units
Outrights: 4-26; -14.39 units

All Tours ytd
Matchups: 56-59; -23.20 units
Outrights: 19-74; +33.91 units

Can't get an outright home had 3 in top 8 going in to last rd to no avail.Bad take on Huston putting.
Can't think of better course that sets up for Tiger than this one.
Was glad to see him win as should set up value against him on other tracks.True to form he plays the par 5's in 11 under and remaining holes in 2 under.

What is the best way to calculate my unit return on Mickelson this week. Finishing 3rd with 4 others makes 6 in the top 1-5 placings. 1/4 1-5 at 16/1. Do I simply halve my returns due to 1 extra person finishing in the top-5?
