This is why I use Bitcoin to move money and not for anything else.
But if you're treating it as just another gamble-- like buying penny stocks-- then let it ride and see what happens

yeah this was an expensive lesson I learned the other day when the damn price crashed. unless youre going to gamble on its price, keep it as btc for as short a time as possible. i didnt think about this and have some sitting in btc now waiting for bitpay card to arrive. price has gone up slightly today but nothing like it was. lesson learned for sure.
I keep my gambling money separate from my money I have in savings, investments, checking. I wanted a place to put it, not in my safe at home that could possibly go way up until I needed it to fund my sports gambling accounts, with my picks lately it will be sooner than later. I should not need it until next August, so I am going to let it ride

I think you should hold out, then when it tanks again, you can bitch about how you, "shoulda coulda woulda".
Why don't you take a thousand out? You will have doubled your input, and still have some fun money to watch.
Yesterday, bitcoin for the first time was worth more than gold.....talking head on the radio said most of the upward price pressure was Chinese moving into it, trying to skirt strict state currency controls...

Economics is not my strong point but the Chinese influence on the Bitcoin is enough for me to be skeptical of the long term run of the digital currency.
I believe that we will have a global currency at some point, just like we currently have DVR's to record our favorite shows and Facebook to keep up with friends through Social Media. I just think that Bitcoin may be the Beta Max/Myspace of the online currency world and that a less volatile, more defined option will be available one day.
That being said, Woodson believes firmly that Bitcoin is the future and the dude has more experience and knowledge then anyone I know on the subject. It makes it hard for me to speak against my gut because my respect for Woodson and faith in Bitcoin are polar opposites. Looked at another way would be my mind is rooting for Hedgie but my heart believes Jaek is making a mistake. Vice versa also applies.

The cryptocurrency was down about 1.5% at $1,260 a coin just after 6 a.m. ET before tumbling below $1,160 within 30 minutes. As of 7:12 a.m. ET it was down 5%, or $62, near $1,218 a coin.
While no headlines can be directly tied to the plunge, about two hours earlier a Bloomberg headline cited a People's Bank of China official as suggesting the recent bitcoin regulation wasn't temporary.
The PBOC recently announced it was cracking down on bitcoin trading, and China's largest bitcoin exchanges have since introduced a flat 0.2% fee on each transaction and announced a blockage of withdrawals.
Tuesday's sell-off could also be tied to nervousness over a coming Securities and Exchange Commission ruling. The SEC is expected to issue a ruling on whether it will approve at least one of the three proposed bitcoin-focused exchange-traded funds by a Saturday deadline.
The price of bitcoin has rallied 27% in 2017 after gaining 120% in 2016. Bitcoin has been the top-performing currency in each of the past two years.
