Leave it to Freeze to totally leave the planet and the subject, just blasting the leftist looneys and the media for measures enacted by the right wing and administration nominated officials.

Nice try again...nothing based on substance, just labeling and namecalling based on NOTHING of truth.

You guys tick it up to red, and blame the ACLU.

PRICELESS.

I think this is a bigger deal than we are giving it credit for, and I agree with yyz's stance.

How are the measures that they have taken helped?

The only by-product that I can think of is that they could have possibly made would-be terrorists not to show up. But if that is the case, then are they personally interviewing or at least "tagging" each individual that did not show up for a scheduled flight yesterday after this was announced? Would seem logical to me.

As far as profiling, I just don't get how there is any logic in NOT profiling. I can guarantee you that I was profiled on a few trips pre-9/11 because I usually travel pretty grungy and they were looking for some dumb shit like weed. But I was a young, white, fraternity male, and Jesse ain't looking out for me.

its guys like Eddie Haskill who would rather us have little old ladies give up their toothpaste and dentures than to search every arab man age 15-55 who gets on an airplane which would give us any resemblance of real safety

This is what I was referring to in my comment. Saying that the left would rather have the measures enacted yesterday than racial profiling. I don't think the left had much to do with the actions taken yesterday.

As for racial profiling, I think it is sensible in this day and age, especially in situations like this. I agree with you that there should be more checking and profiling. I know from past airline employment that there has been terror/racial profiling done way back in the 80's and probably before, as far as ticketing and purchasing tickets. And that was in SW Missouri, for crying out loud.

I would not agree with the ACLU if their position was that airlines can not engage in some form of profiling. Law enforcement does it all the time. Seems prudent to me.

Very little in life or these situations are absolute. You guys linking and labeling anyone with a different opinion that you have is more of the same crap that this administration makes bank on, however. With us or against us, I believe is the battle cry.

as a defender of civil liberties, I have to chime in that the ACLU's stance on profiling is well intentioned but not practical in certain situations (like Arabs getting on planes). The statement on their website "Arabs Muslims and South Asians are no more likely than whites to be terrorists" is totally ridiculous. Of course there are "whites" who are terrorists, but to say that an Arab Muslim is no more likely to be a terrorist than anyone else?

Dear Doctor:

My view on the entire airport security thing is that it is a bunch of whooie (now how's that for a word you haven't heard forever). In my best Thurston Howell, the III impersonation, "Whooie, I tell you, whooie". Seriously, window dressing for the masses.

If an arab, or a little old lady with dentures, for that matter, wants to blow up a plane in the name of Jesus, Allah, Khoteck, or Merv Griffin they are going to do it. Hell, just watch 24 to see how easy it can be done (theres no Jack Bauer in real life).

Too many air travellers and too many ways to get explosives on board to ever stop this problem. Only real way to do it is the hard way. Education and intelligence, two things this administration has none of.

If you really want good and effective airport security, why don't we do it like the Israeli's do it... interview each passenger. And not by some moron, drooling, minion, TSA employee. In addition, why don't we spend the majority of our efforts (money) going after the bad guys (like Bin Laden) instead of prevention and murdering Iraqi's.

Well I've been saying that for 3 years now. Just another Haskell Moment of Brilliance.

Oh man, I would have put the Muhammad O/U at about 6 for a team of 21. It went way under - they were even beaten out by Hussain.

I keep expecting to see Prince Naseem Hammed on one of these Brit-Muslim lists. He would have made a pretty good hijacker at his peak. Dude bob and weave his way right to cockpit, probably without even spilling his explosive gatorade.

Damn, here we go again. Why do you have to go after an all time classic group with dozens of top 10 hits like...oh...sorry...wait...I don't like them either...

I think I was taken in by a late night commercial for their greatest hits, drunk, after watching Jenifer Aniston's leg-up-to-her-ass-cheek flash on Letterman that night. It all seemed good, then.

But, I do take exception to the Martin Lawrence rip. I thought the movie he did with Tim Robbins was hysterical - one of my all time favorites. That was a damn funny movie, can't remember the name now. God Time Robbins was funny in that one. Of course, I'll now get slammed for the Robbins/Sarandon liberal lean, but oh well.

Loved the over/under Mohammed reference, GW. That was also a classic. But, does Skybook offer the "one letter off" bonus for a +$500 deposit and accept Muhammed in the wager? Also wondering if there is a Fantasy Terrorism League yet, where you can pick your terror team and get points for a successful mission.

If that last one offended anyone, or anyone has had a friend or loved one hurt or lost to an incident, I sincerely apologize. It's just that things have gotten so damn serious and sad of late, it just broke funny in my little head. I hope it's taken in the way it was meant, to be a joke. And so it goes.
