The fact is......the threat is not as big of a deal as the government always makes it out to be. (And I'm not trying to down play it.) Of course it's great that these asspipes didn't get to pull off the job, but some day........someone still will! But it's not a daily threat, and it shouldn't be a Keystone Kop production to make us "feel safe".

If Ali bin Jihad wants to blow up a plane, he will! If Ahmed Qak Sukor wants to blow himself up in the middle of your mall, he will!

But these guys are not around, people. Not at the rate your panic driven minds are led to believe.

Taking my soda and shampoo off the plane is not going to make the ride any safer........taking Ali and Ahmed off, will. You see.........My soda and shampoo were never the problem.

:

i do hear you,yyz....ya know, if the inconvenience gets too much more than the current high-blood-pressure security hassles...i mean, when i can't even bring bottled water on board a plane so i don't get dehydrated and get a sinus infection...it sucks....

and yeah,i'm tired of letting these m.f.`ers crowd us further and further into a behavioral corner.....

i also agree...the law of averages will probably catch up to us....

two decades of p.c. thinking has now led us to a multicultural nightmare....

that, and an almost nonexistant immigration policy means that we probably have hezbollah chapters from coast to coast....

dearbornistan is merely the heart of the beast.....
check places like paterson, n.j.. or throughout southern california for the tentacles of the beast....

but,i`m sorry,yyz....imo,it`s a huge deal....if this attack had actually happened, what do you think would be the ramifications for the airline industry?....on wall st?...the economy in general?.....everyone`s precious civil liberties?....

there`s a reason we haven`t been hit in 5+ years....and it ain`t the terrorist`s sloth.....

they`re on the run...bin laden`s in a cave somewhere....their home base has been taken away(afghanistan)....

yet, they still hit spain...they hit england..they hit egypt...they hit india.....australian plots were foiled........and many more targets since 9/11....

we haven`t been hit....and we`re "the great satan"...that tells me we`re doing something right...

actually, they just grabbed more of these "quakers" in italy..

""Italian police arrest 40 in security crackdown
Sweep followed discovery of alleged terror plot in Britain
Aug. 11, 2006. 02:55 PM
ASSOCIATED PRESS

ROME — "Police have arrested 40 people in cities throughout Italy in raids on Muslim gathering places in a security crackdown launched after Britain thwarted an alleged terror plot.

Anti-terrorism police agents also searched homes of Pakistani immigrants as part of a Belgian probe into suspected financing of terrorism, the Interior Ministry said today.

The arrests were made Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence, Naples and other cities on Thursday and today "as part of an extraordinary operation that followed the British anti-terrorist operation," the ministry said in a statement."

they also just picked up some muslim guys toting 1,000 trac phones around...they bought `em in wisconsin and michigan...and they live in texas.....

i always go 1,000 miles out of my way to buy bulk cell phones...doesn`t everybody?...

and that`s just one incident....here`s another..

""Last week, the Grafton police pulled over 24-year-old Hashem Sayed for a routine traffic stop. But what they found in his car was far from routine. Patrolman Daniel Laymon recalls the scene, "There were multiple cell phones, roughly 150 to 200 cell phones from multiple retailers," he said.

Buying that many pre-paid phones is not a crime, but the police say it is unusual.

Less than a week later, the authorities in Marietta, Ohio, arrested 20-year-old Osma Sabhi Abulhassan and 20-year-old Ali Houssaiky. Washington County Sheriffs deputies seized several pre-paid cell phones and thousands of dollars in cash. Because of the incidents, Grafton police believe the events are connected.

"The department feels that there are a lot of similar circumstances and there are a lot of similarities between the activity there and the activity experienced here," said Patrolman Laymon.

The activity seems to be more than just a coincidence. All three men are from Dearborn, Michigan and all three gave similar reasons for buying the phones. Sayed said he was buying them to ship to California to sell for a profit. But Washington County's sheriff says that may not be the whole truth. "They are digital for detonating car bombs and they have a particular digital frequency and that's what they're using them for," said Sheriff Larry Mincks.

Mincks says the men also had instructions on how to obtain private flights and airplane passenger information.

"It also had some information concerning airport security and check points."

He says the two men apprehended in Ohio are linked to another man who is being investigated for possible terrorism. Now, police across the state have a warning for residents.

"Not that it's a crime," said Grafton Police Chief, Robert Beltner. "But we can check into it to make sure nothing illegal is going to take place with those phones.""""""

this stuff scares me...and i expect the gov`t to do EVERYTING in their power to grab these festering pustules....

i know you don`t agree...but i think it`s becoming clear that we have a significant fifth column here in our country.....

i think we have a real problem here....and if it takes me wearing a paper gown and cardboard slippers on a plane ride from here to there, so be it....

i know......just relax...reeeellaaaxxx "g.w.,you're being very un-dude".......i hear you...we`ll have to disagree...

you say that if they want us,they`ll get us...but there are probably a couple thousand brits and americans drawing breath today that wouldn`t be on the green side of the grass by 08/16 because of the heightened security...

can`t say it had anything to do with soda or shampoo,though....

""Taking my soda and shampoo off the plane is not going to make the ride any safer........taking Ali and Ahmed off, will. You see.........My soda and shampoo were never the problem.[/

i`m with you there,partner...

but..... i just heard on cnn that the a.c.l.u. will sue boston`s logan airport after authorities announced they will go to a semi-profiling technique.....

see...the insanity continues....

GW,

The common thread through your entire post was Ali, Osma, Pakistani......

And I do undersatnd that these guys are out there. And god help us all if I am way off base, and they are way better organized than I figure.

My guess is, some day, a bunch of bombs are going to go of in a shit load of cities all at the same time. In malls.....parks.....etc.....Not just major cities. (If these guys are, indeed, well orginized.)

We need a little malitia of our own, willing to follow these little bastards back to their holes from Wal-Mart, and show 'em how "phone bombs" work!

The thing is, the "threat" will never be gone. "Terrorists" will always exist, and they will always kill mass amounts of people at any given time.

You need to kill the terrorist, before he kills you. Our country continues to dance around these issues.

....................................................

The arrests in Caro, about 90 miles north of Detroit, come three days after two men were arrested in Marietta, Ohio, where police said they piqued suspicions when they acknowledged buying about 600 phones in recent months at stores in southeast Ohio.

Investigators found information about airline flights and airports in their car.

The men, Ali Houssaiky and Osama Abulhassan, :scared :scared both 20 and from Dearborn, have been charged with two felonies ? money laundering in support of terrorism and soliciting or providing support for acts of terrorism ? and misdemeanor falsification. A preliminary hearing on the felony counts was set for Tuesday.

AH yes we better worry about the threat from with in. We have as many nuts here as any other country. Terror is not new. Even England knows as good as they are with there undercover work. And they are the best. Admit they can't stop them all. They learn that with Ireland. YYZ you are correct if someone wants to blow them and us up they will find away. I'm Not sure how many dead we are ready to accept. But we will allow some to keep our way of live. I can't never see our country closed down. Or our basic rights changed. I can see us change the way we fight terror. The old thinking lets invade maybe on it's way out. By lessons I hoped every one learn in Iraq.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I don't know about being best DJV--they do have distict adv as pointed out by Wall St Journal below-----

Indeed, the right wing editorial page at The Wall Street Journal said this, "The [London terror] plot was foiled because a large number of people were under surveillance concerning their spending, travel and communications. Which leads us to wonder if Scotland Yard would have succeeded if the ACLU or The New York Times had first learned the details of such surveillance programs."

Okay, Weasel:

Most of us have figured out, with your guidance, that the people blowing up planes are brown skinned and not little old lady with dentures as Dr. Freeze as pointed out. So we can narrow our future searches for such perpetrators to arabs since so many of us love to push the profiling button. Push away boys.

My point is that what about the other side of the equation. That is the side many of us don't seem to want to focus on because its boring. That is making them stop. The George Bush/Dr. Freeze camp of blowing them into oblivion vs the Eddie Haskel and I don't know who else is in it camp of getting to the true nature of the conflict and educating, negotiating and resolving the problem. Seems like its more fun to blow them up and create new terrorists then it is to permanently solve the problem.

Think about it. Where was Hezbollah on 9-12-01. Wasn't holding seats in Lebanons legislature. Thanks George, Dick, Don, Condi, Carl, Paul and all the other members of the Bush administration responsible for elevating terrorisms to the power its achievieved in the Islamic world today.

Not sure how you can blame Bush and Cheney when the Saudis are still teaching their first graders with school books that zionists are bad, jihad is good, killing americans is best, blow them up is excellant. Oh and God is Great.

How do you stop them from teaching their children this crap.

As long as they continue that , I have to say blowing them up before they blow us up is the best approach.

You can't negotiate with terrorists.

Don't think the hate issue has changed nor will ever change--
It basically boils down to if we want to sit on defensive or take offensive. We know defensive posture didn't work--schools still out on offensive.

Personally I prefer having Pakistan-Saudi's-Yemen ect working with western intelligence for a change--as far as population of same-- you will always have radicals.

Scottie:

You can thank the chickenhawk administration for the black and white polarization (either your with us or your agin us crap) of the world, the legitimization of terrorist groups like hezbollah and hammas where they are gaining acceptance by arabs who see the destruction being inappropriately being reigned down upon them by the US created Israeli state supported by that double talking ACLU slime Dershowitz (what do you think of him now Wayne).

My point is that fundamentalist religions, Christian or Islam suck. Whether they are Saudi or taught at the Solid Rock Church somewhere in Texas, they are dangerous and will cause future problems. You can take your sentence about first graders in Ryhad and soften it just a little bit and it could sound like first graders in Waco. Muhammed might just say blow them up is the best approach also.

I'm telling you, we gotta get this God shi t outta here before it kills us all. Including my skinny white non belivein ass.

edward....bubby....

last time i checked,9/11 happened pre-iraq......the planning assuredly started during the clinton administration....

khobar towers....the cole...the first wtc bombing.....old man klinghoffer being chucked over the side of a cruise ship.....

this isn`t new...it`s been building steam for several decades....and it isn`t a bush problem...it isn`t even an american problem...

it`s an international problem...

how do you explain the bombings in egypt, india, the mass massacre of christians in darfur and somalia?..nigeria?......why canada?.....

around the world islamic militants are engaging in a holy war against the infidels - from coptic christians in egypt and the dinkas in the sudan, to hindus in kashmir, bahais in iran, catholics in the southern philippines and christians in east timor......

blowing up school children in checnya....

in sudan, the islamic militants impose slavery on captured dinkas ...wherever radical islam is in power, it subjugates people it regards as infidels.....

why slit theo van gogh`s throat in amsterdam?......

why?...because, he didn`t agree with them....

were the buddhits the culprits?...catholics?...presberterians?....hindus?...the aarp?

you blaming me for calling a spade a spade?.....for exposing the elephant in the room?

where are the great liberal/ non-muslim idealists at the bbc, the nation, the new york times and other rationalizers of palestinian and islamic terror?.....again...why is it that everywhere in the world where muslims are in the majority, their minorities are persecuted?

that`s not a liberal concept....

why liberals like yourself are running interference for these monsters is puzzling...is it just bds?......that doesn`t wash...
they`re murdering practiacally everybody.... on every continent...whether they be involved in iraq...or with the u.s....or not....

you think that if kerry were elected that 9/11 wouldn`t have happened?...

it looks to me like the left, and its allies, haven't learned a single thing since 1932.....

Thank you Raymond. And a Happy Allah Achbar to you too.

Before you right wing wack pond scum dildo's get aneurisms again, I'm not defending radical fundamentalist islam. I'm condeming, which as usual is falling on deaf ears, radicalism in all its forms and promoting education and understanding.

I do not believe in pure good and evil. I do not believe the US and its allies are totally right nor totally wrong. Now here it comes. I also believe fundamentalist Islam has legtimate gripes against the West. I don't believe that flying planes into buildings is the way to get the message across.

There is a way to get everyone to the table. Even Al Quida. Look if that stupid clown from Cleveland can win a poker tournament, anything can happen.

murph - haha that was a good one.

............................................................

This is Jill Carroll the kidnapped ladys story....

After a short drive we switched cars, and I cowered, motionless in the strange, new back seat. Soon I realized that there were children next to me, and men in the front seat.

A cassette blared a recitation of the Koran and every few minutes the nervous men would mutter "Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar," as we drove through the darkness.

Then one of them said in Arabic, "What are you? What are you?"

A tiny voice next to me replied, "I'm a Mujahid," a holy warrior.

It was a boy -- I'd learn that his name was Ismael, and he was 6 years old. Just a child, already indoctrinated.

After some 20 minutes, the car stopped and a woman's gloved hand grasped mine, guiding me out of the car and into a house. My heart was racing; the adrenaline hadn't stopped in 24 hours. Barely a day had passed, and I was a broken, quivering, fearful shell.

She lifted the scarves.

"This is Um Ali and this is Abu Ali," Abu Rasha told me, smiling. Um is Arabic for mother; Abu is father. But all my captors' names were fake, as each adopted a nom de guerre in my presence.

I looked to the left to a rotund man with a stubbly salt-and-pepper beard and grandfatherly eyes. He was smiling, too, and looked friendly.

"Do you know Abu Ali?" said Abu Rasha. "Do you know him from yesterday?"

"No," I said.

I looked at him again -- and then I did know who he was. He was the man that held the gun on Adnan, my driver, during my abduction --

"Oh no," I thought to myself. This was not OK.
.............................................................................

Brave and lucky lady to have gone through that. If they had taken Eddie Haskell I would have had to immediately started to work for his release. I wonder how Eddies thoughts about things would change if he walked in this Jills shoes for even one day.

I can hear them now,

Mujadeen - this Eddie wants to negotiate with us. He is a non believer and says he will convert to muslim if we release him. We don't believe him. He seems a bit full of himself. We think killing him would be best.

KOD - Wait - If I can get Madjacks to contribute to Eddie Haskells release , how much would we need to come up with. We have a very generous poker winning group around here.

Mujadeen - You will need one million american.

KOD - So long Eddie.

PS - How do we compete with 6 year old holy warriers willing to die.

Its sad really.
