Botha fight OFFICIALLY a draw!

BoxRec is now listing Botha-Carrion as a draw! It seems there was confusion in the arena last night, with the ring announcer announcing the fight as a draw but lifting Botha's hand. Only in boxing!

Note to Joey: It is 24 hours after the fight. Do you think wagers will be regraded push/no action or will the book(s) stick to the verdict that was APPARENTLY rendered on the night?

Note to Paul and Ghost: Why is boxing the ONLY sport consistently to have these muddles?

I am going to fight with vigor for a refund
If it is indeed a draw, then a refund should take place
Earlier this year Delvin Rodriguez fought Isaac Hlatschwayo in South Africa
(not their 2nd fight, but the first fight early in the year)
weepaul bet Rodriguez and I bet Hlatswayo
the South African was announced the winner, and my winnings were granted
24 hours later, they changed it to a draw (exact scenario we have here) - and my money was taken away from me
The fight was graded a DRAW - A PUSH - REFUND
Same scenario here
This should be a refund for sure

Sooo glad I didnt offer or bet this card anywhere.

But to answer... the decision wasnt overturned at the venue, so the result in the ring would stand @ the sportsbooks.

Given the circumstances, I would have left the original grade. I can say that with complete nuetrality bc I had no stake in the bout on either side of the counter.

Sorry for guys that lost. Seems like another in string of bad beats for some you guys.

Just when you think things cant get crazier, you get stuff like the Botha bout. I didnt even watch the fight, but by most things I've read Botha didnt even deserve a draw.

Either way, it doesn't make up for the fact that the payout for a WIN was going to be between +300 and +250 for Carrion (I think paulie got it early - he was the first post I saw yesterday)

Carrion got robbed and we all got screwed

Thanks for the response Joey
Here is the thing - the correct verdict WAS read in the ring
but the referee raised Botha's hand - which led to huge confusion
the announcer announced that BOTHA RETAINED the tile - not that he won the fight
this should be a refund - not a loss

like you said - the worst part of all this is that Botha lost every round on my card !

You and Paulie got a royal screwing. I honestly believe there is blatant corruption involved. You almost have to think Bothas blowing somebody to keep getting these gifts. For the sake of some justice, I hope you get a refund. Keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!

WOW!!!

I need to give 5 Dimes credit here.

They put the money they took yesterday back into my account without me saying a word to them.

Still a really shitty decision but it takes some of the sting away.

Thanks for the updates Graham.

I didnt see the fight, but if it was overturned at the venue in the ring like you guys said, then 5Dimes did the right thing. Their rules are fair and they have always done right by me. Bizzare circumstances on thebout 4 sure.

I've had ring announcers say 1:32 remaing in RD 10and at 1:32 OF RD 10 and thats always a pain in ass without the video....esp when the sites report it backwards. and worse when bouts are in foreign languages....

glad u guys caught a 1/2 a break on it anyways.

Wow, if it was bookmaker they would have stole your money even if it was changed at the venue. Talk about luck. Yeah I know bookmaker didn't even have the fight but I want to make it clear what they do anyways. :0corn

UPDATE #2
Well NOW THEY HAVE TAKEN THE MONEY BACK
NO REFUND !!!!!!!!!

5dimes says they are sticking to the original grading
fuking bullshit

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
I am lividly pissed now....after giving them props this afternoon, they have now gone back on their word....and I'm sure the fact that Carrion money came in has EVERYTHING to do with this decision....such crap....stealing money....

Like I said, earlier in the year, when the Hlatswayo fight was graded a win - they changed it to a DRAW later

but now, conveniently, a different grading system is in place for THE SAME THING HAPPENING

such BULLSHIT
SO UNFAIR

WTF
I held 5d as one of top books.
I can't believe that money on dog influenced their decision. How much money could be involved there? It was a small event in small sport and the line was up 3-4 hrs with no major odds fluctuation.
Odd.
Sorry ghost, you and paul did everything right here.

Exactly old dirty. It can't possibly be that much money. The line was only up a few hours before the event Saturday morning. Only moved from the +300 weepaul got to the +250 I got.

Really not fair at all. What can you do.

It can't possibly be that much money, but I guess it was enough for them to be greedy about it.

Come on, they have good reputation and offer odds on mayor sports. I bet that they have 1000x more action on NFL than on boxing.

On the other hand my book graded my lousy Botha bet as a win any majority action they had were on the Franz. I got him @ -400 and it closed @ -500.

As Kick sad in tennis thread, sometimes those shady stuff works against you sometimes for you. Hopefully you and paul will be on right side next time it happens. I know you are due :)

5dimes has always been fair with me. Their rule is clear. If this was announced officially the next day or not at venue, youre in tough spot.

Again I didnt watch, bet , or offer the fight, but its tough to change a result the next day. Especially in Germany. If they switched the dec in the ring, find the video and send it to him. I had to wait 2 weeks at CRIS to find a German Vid to have them fix an OVER/UNDER that was clearly incorrect. Have patience, find proof, and send it to them. JMO.

Good luck.

I can say with upmost confidence that 5dimes wouldnt look to srew someone over on a boxing bet.

The unfornate thing about bouts like this is at some point books may decide not to offer them. I personally thew in the towell on some venues and fighters and refuse to offer odds on them b/c of irregularity and coruption that was apparent in hindsight looking at the wagering patterns and results. Botha is one, Tye Fields, Sherman Willaims, Eman Augustus, Yori Boy Campos, are others. And in Mexico I really pick and chose my spots. Same with smaller and some Showtime MMA events.
