From the Hard Rock Hotel?s The Joint in Las Vegas for tomorrow night?s Top Rank-promoted, Fox Sports En Espanol-televised fight card:
Vanes Martirosyan 153 vs. Kassim Ouma 150
For the NABF/NABO welterweight titles
NOTE: The scheduled co-main event between Miguel Angel Garcia and Joksan Hernandez has been nixed. Hernandez was unable to enter the U.S. due to visa problems.
RD6 - Burgos jabs, Martinez swings wild. Burgos assuming control, as Martinez does little. Now M pressures a little, not enough. Good overhand right by M at the bell, but I'll still go with Burgos. Burgos winning, but to me uninpressive
RD7 - Atlas has it 60-54. Burgos controlling with jab. Martinez off balance, not pressuring. Now M pressures a bit. When he gets off first he does well. Burgos boxing but missing. A better aggressor capitalizes, but not M
RD8 - Martinez keeps him on ropes. Burgos looking a little gassed. Now fights off, good 1 2 by M. B swing wild. He flails with his shots. Back to ropes again. Now M backs away. B does nothing. M forward again.
RD9 - Burgos trying to pump jab, get himself going. B lands good overhand right. B hits low, gets warned. M backs him to ropes, but is wild. They trade jabs. B boxing. Now they get into it, both swinging hard and wild.
good round 10
Martinez can sure take a shot
Burgos is getting frustrated trying to smash him out of there
cards will be wide for Burgos
but still 6 more minutes
RD10 - Burgos landing some effective shots early. Now M steadies him. Atlas has it 90-81 Burgos - geez. Over hits!!!! :00hour :00hour That pleases me!!! B more effective here. M giving it a crude try, but is out of ideas.
RD11 - M almost certainly needs KO to win. B feeling good, getting 2nd win. Seems to have this one figured out. M pressures to ropes. B steps away, lands big overhand right - maybe best punch of the fight. M keeps coming. B moving.
Burgos is a little better than I thought. He is young, and needs to get stronger...but some potential there.
