Briggs looks like he doesn't even know how to shadow box. He has two rounds to land the loto punch, after that he's dead meat.

If you follow boxing lines closely, as many of us do, it's pretty clear to see how 5d are followers. They wait for the lines to post on other books, namely sb, then post accordingly in response to where the money is going. I'm sure it's frustrating for certain oddsmakers. For my part, I still like 5d because of the variety of prop bets they offer, but they've got no cajones in terms of posting lines on their own. It would be nice to see them enlist the services of a linesmaker that is worth his salt.

Weekend plays

Weekend plays

Vasquez Jr.-Hernandez UNDER 9.5 - large (-130)
I'm the beneficiary of early odds here, and I love this play. Hernandez is second rate. He's been dummied early before, and I am fairly certain he will be worked over in much the same way here. Vasquez seems pissed, and I think he will be looking to make a statement. Personally, I would've taken near even money on under 5.5, so I like my chances.

5 way parlay - Bute, Diaconu, Miranda, Vasquez, Webb - large (~-160) - large I consider Webb the only semi-difficult leg here, and the others to be all but locks. Of course, anytime you involve this many fights in a parlay there is the risk of something strange happening, but I'm comfortable with my chances. In the Webb-Concepcion fight, I do think Concep has shown subtle improvement, but it won't be nearly enough, and I like Webb to win this comfortably one way or another.

5 way parlay - Bute, Diaconu, Miranda, Vasquez, Porter - large (~-220) Same as above, and without Webb. Don't see where I can go wrong here, but strange things do happen. I almost didn't bother to include Porter, but what can I say, I'm a greedy sob. Hope it pans out.

Bute-Brinkley UNDER 7.5 (+140) - small
I just wanted a Friday play here. Could be tough, but Brinkley is not exactly a mover, and Bute has been devastating as of late. I can see Bute busting him up before this. At plus odds, I'll take a small shot that the class difference tells early on.

Good luck fellas!

not nearly always true Q. For example they had Hop/Pascal, Flores/Green and many others way before SB... sure , they do hang back for some fights but Greek, Bookmaker and some others hang back and wait even more in boxing. And as mentioned, you have to love the props and choices.

Even with the future fights, they wait until they are good and established on many Euro books before coming forward. I agree, 5d is the best in terms of props, but I'd just like to see them go first for once.

.....

.....

Bookmaker,5dimes and thegreek pretty much all do the same thing but all are usefull for 1 thing or another. I don't criticize any of them.

Oh and the few extra lines that 5dimes has are from european books.

Man oh man does Tarver look fat! Maybe it's just because I'm used to seeing him at 175, but no...he looks just plain fat. I have no choice but to throw a few bucks down on Aguilera, who seems to be taking this fight seriously. I also don't like what Tarver is saying. 'I have questions' 'Not sure if I punch like a heavyweight, if I can take a heavyweight punch.' Sounds like he is doubting himself, and offering up a pre-fight excuse.

Thats so absolutely out of character for Tarver to say a thing like this!!!

I only saw the pics on fightnews, which didnt show his gut, but he did look a bit chubby!

Do you have any other pics?

To be honest, I was pretty torn on the Tarver fight, but after the weigh-in and the interviews (Aguilera claims to be in great shape) Nagy might just be worth a play!

BTW, I agree Bute, Vazquez and Diaconu should win, I parlayed them with Vitaly!
I dont do that very often, but cant see either losing!

I also have some money on Bute to finish another parlay and to win by ko!

+140 for Under 7.5 looks like value!

I also took +140 under 7,5 Bute-Brinkley.
I suck at over/unders and I'm in red when this types of plays are considered but I really expected pick'em or minus line here.
Good luck to us!

I'm really surprised that no line was offered on the Perez-Salcido scrap tonight. Should be a good one.

-Nagy will always have trouble w/big physical guys but Trver doesnt meet the descript. I think this is an even fight. Tarver hasnt fought in nearly 18 months and wasnt exactly lighting the world on fire @175. I think Nagy is live. Small wager +180 for me.

-Diac straight up and to finish a parlay with bute. I'd be shocked to see either lose. Sheika was never better than a c+ b- fighter and that was several yrs ago. I expect Bute to hit the under and dominate.

-Webb. Boxrec wager for me but the guy has only lost once and that was on cuts. He doesn't possess much but he's been able to outbox and upset a few domestic fighters. he appears to be the better class here.

-Looking at some other possible plays here.

-Does anybody besides me think Margo stands a decent shot at the upset? I don't think Pac ko's Margo. I think Roach is playing mind games. IF Pac tries to get physical here then he'll more than have his hands full. SPEED is the key for pac and he'll probably win a 12 rd dec but if Margo can push him around and bully him then we got a fight. Margo is 5 inches taller and he's the stronger guy here. I tip Pac to win but @+450 I'll put a little on Cheato. For the record, I believe Pac has been on the juice for a few yrs.

I think so Romi, but of course I thought De La Hoya would beat Pacquaio. I took the odds with Hatton and Cotto as well, and we know what happened there. I even went tiny on Clottey for cryin' out loud. Pac has been killing me. That said, he looked just a little vulnerable against Clottey, and the guy barely fought back. Because of his size and tenacity, I do think Margo has a shot, and will probably go down that road with you.

In regards to this weeks wagers, we've got a lot of the same so good luck to us. I upped my wager on Aguilera to, for reasons you pointed out. That would be a nice win for us.

I honestly cannot believe how Tarver looks
When he played the character Mason Dixon (the heavyweight champ in the last Rocky film) he was around 210 and he looked good...He and Stallone put on an epic war
:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

But just a few years later his body has gone to shit
He looks like he didn't train one day and ate ding dongs for a year

I don't think much of this Aguilera, but I have to play him here

Tarver just looks awful

I also played the draw at 25:1....this fight could be very ugly to watch

I think it will be an ugly fight. I just can't envision Tarver looking impressive. This is going to be one of those fights we watch simply and only because we have dough on it. I fully expect a snoozefest once the intrigue wears off, which should be about a full minute into the fight. There is no way in hell Tarver will ever fight for the hvy title.

This fight reminds me of Eddie (Gregory) Mustafa Mohammed moving up to hvy back in the early 80's to take on Reynaldo Snipes. Mustafa was a VERY skillful fighter that could stand right in front of you and take you apart but he was also fat and lazy. I believe he lost a title once because he came in overweight. He gained 20-30 lbs of fat and fought snipes and looked horrible. Snipes was nothing special and whose claim to fame was landing a lottery shot on Holmes that nearly decapitated him.

edit: apparently he didnt lose a title on the scales but I believe a title fight was cancelled because he couldn't make weight.
