Congrats to those that backed Perez...no robbery but an absolute DISGRACEFUL job of scoring. How the fuck do you give Perez 9 rds??? 8 rds to 4 is disgusting as well. This fight was 2 pts one way or the other. NO way can you call it any other way.

Asshole
Gray is a straight asshole
I wish King Kong would have leaned over and headbutted Gray, then stood over him and said "now continue the interview. get up! why can't you continue the interview?"

I concur.

Happy for Perez backers as he did great but feel sorry for Agbeko backers as he also did great.

I really am getting sick of the judges and refs :jerkit:

How can the so called Pro's have these fights SO different than everyone else watching????

Great observation Ghost.

I like guys coming into the ring focused and ready to fight. Perez had that look, Agbeko didn't.

Bernard Hopkins wore the executioner's mask, Roy Jones Jr. wore a dog collar into the ring before his annihilation of Thomas Tate and Arthur Abraham used to wear a Smurf hat (and later a crown) into the ring, but all these guys exuded confidence and authority, each in their own way: Bernard looked plain mean, Jones looked ready to do serious damage before meeting Tate (who had pissed him of with pre-fight comments) and with Abraham you had the sense that he was having fun and looking forward to the night's work.

On the other hand, when Felix Trinidad wore a New York cop's hat into the ring before the fight with Hopkins, and made that all-smiles, loosey-goosey ring entrance (while Hopkins was bristling with menace) I had the strong sense that Tito was in big trouble.

As soon as I saw Agbeko coming into the ring in that ridiculous King Kong mask, led on a chain by "Fay Wray", I knew I had picked the wrong guy. Perez had the look of a man who was ready to fight flat-out from the start, Agbeko looked as if he thought he just had to show up to win.

The mental aspect of boxing is so important. Agbeko got outfought and outbanged early, looked visibly startled by the punches that were coming at him and just couldn't get his nose in front at any point in the fight, and the "knockdown" in the 10th sealed his fate. (Yep, Paul, the referee got it wrong as usual. What else is new?)

Despite the ridiculous wide scoring tonight, no complaints from me this week. It was a good "quiet" week and I'd settle for this week 52x a yr. Thx to all the Perez backers and their analysis. Your comments kept my Agbeko wager in check. I lost a few hund on it but could have been worse without all the comments. Once again a great team effort in here.:toast: :toast: :toast:

2 months to go in what has become a pretty damn good year with many excellent fights yet to be fought :0corn

"the bunker"
ashamed there`s no ratings system for referees....they can keep getting it wrong, and theres little to no blowback...they still get high profile fights....i doubt they get docked any pay...

i`d settle for a little "official" public humiliation(for the chronic offenders) and kudos for the consistently good ones......

:toast: That is precisely why I'm real happy to have become part of this forum. It's great to bounce ideas off, get a bunch of educated opinions, and keep my own opinions in check. I think we've got a good collection of boxing gurus who know their shit, and that really helps the capping process.

Sharpest refs on top of their game consistently is Bayless, Weeks, Smoger

I don't need to tell many here that Cortez has been fading for a while and now I get the sense that you can add Byrd to that list of just showing up, lacking sharpness because for starters Clottey Judah, where it was a clear punch that caused Judah's cut and he allowed jackoff Judah to talk him into a headbutt call and now this. Bayless, Weeks, Smoger, all day...

I didn't touch the fight but I thought Agbeko would win. I kind of thought there were moments where Agbeko looked like he might be able to take over but Perez always seemed to eventually answer. The head butt knockdown was unfortunate but that stuff does happen.

I didn't score the fight but I slightly favored Agbeko. He seemed too slip and land a bit more consistently overall. But a very close and grueling contest. Agbeko has now had many rugged fights in a row - he needs a breather.

Scores were brutal. It looks like Don King's time has passed in Vegas. He's not there much and obviously doesn't carry the clout anymore. What a slap in the face by those judges. Whoa!

What a fucking prick Jim Gray is
trying to convince Mike Tyson to come out of retirement, then calling Tyson fat and out of shape....god I hate that mfer Jim Gray....punch him Mike!

Jim Gray is a prick. Trying to goad Tyson into talking of a return. Tyson couldn't beat Kevin McBride half a decade ago. What's he gonna do now. Even Tyson's biggest ass lickers have to know he is beyond the point of no return.

And what about Gray asking Agbeko "Why didn't you fight?" after the headbutt.

'Because I was dizzy and experiencing physical pain well beyond what I'm used to.' Jim is harsh.

I agree with the sentiment regarding Agbeko's gorilla mask. That crap is completely unnecessary and distracting.

But I wouldn't mind a go round with that Fay Wray. Wow, was she fine!:0corn :0corn

Maybe Jon Schorle, too?

Good call, very observant. I might add Jon Schorle. With most referees, I hate to say it, but my first thought is: "Now how are they going to screw up THIS one?"

Thanks Graham, now I can't quite tell from your email which group your linkiing Schorle into because I had the faders (Cortez, Byrd) and the sharps (Weeks, Bayless, Smoger) but I'm assumiing its the former....?

I'd put Schorle in the first group (the sharpies). As far as I know he has never had a major screwup and usually he seems to sense the right time to stop a fight. His only black mark was in letting Victor Burgos hang around a couple of rounds too long against Vic Darchinyan, and Burgos suffered a brain injury (happily he recovered), but it wasn't as if Burgos was being battered insensible, the game guy was still trying to make a fight of it. I wanted to see Burgos pulled out by the 10th but I didn't sense that his health was seriously at risk.
