Come on! Perhaps we need to get going on this. Personally, I don't have a clue, as I have not ever seen Kessler fight. The fact that Calzaghe beat Lacy(a gorilla with no boxing acumen) seems to be all he keeps talking about. How good is Kessler? Someone please tell me. Box says just because Kessler has lots of tattos doesn't mean he isn't good!

For me Kessler is the whole package : he is fast, strong, can fight going forward or going backwards. He can punch, he is not easy to hit and he takes a good punch, at least he was never even close to appearing hurt. I dont know if its true but somebody said Kessler has never lost one round on all scorecards, meaning at least one judge had him winning the round. Thats pretty impressive.
And this guy is a physical freak. he has restn pulse of 40 !! great stamina.
Stamina will be an issue in this fight and Kessler is coming into his absolute prime, Calzaghe is not.
Kessler is all about very sound fundamentals...Calzaghe is fast and tough and world class but i like kessler by dec. I have some money in at 420 plus.

I was highly impressed w/Kessler against Andrade. Andrade really wanted that fight and had Kessler been a bit off, Andrade could have worn him down and been trouble late in the fight. Kessler isn't great at any one thing but he's very solid in all departments. Very good basics, good boxing, good power, good defense, and ring generalship. I think what can beat Kessler is speed and Zags has very good speed. On the other hand, Zags tends to throw wide at times and Kessler shoots straight up the middle. This is a pic em and I honestly don't see value on either guy. I'm staying away from it. I do think it's a distance fight so a possible over wager perhaps. If forced to pick, I'd have to go with Zags by narrow dec. The fight is in Zags backyard, so I think Kessler will need to do a number on him to get the nod. I'm really looking forward to this fight!

I posted a play on Calzaghe by decision +210 in my futures a while back, the number was just too high for what I see as the most likely outcome, Calzaghe won't stop him, and Kessler will have a hard time winning a decision given the venue and promotion

Kessler is obviously a very live dog, and like most of you I don't really see him as the underdog here. Its dead even in my opinion, my play on Calzaghe by decision is based on value given the high odds

Logic is quite compelling. We also have the over10.5-170 and a DRAW play. As I stated personally, I don't have clue one regarding Kessler. I have seen what Calzaghe can do. I'll just sit on the sidelines and wait for the more astute guys to check in.

Over seems like the best option to me.
I dont think either fighter has ever been seriously hurt. I know calzaghe has been down before though to Salem.

Calzaghe was also down against Mitchell, he was rocked pretty good if I remember right, but recovered well and stopped Mitchell later that round

I played Kessler straight, Kessler by decision, over 10.5 and draw, the odds have been decreasing though...but I think they will decrease even more.

Both fighters seem to have solid chins, superb conditionning and no serious one-punch ko power.

Calzahge is very good, but now it's Kesslers time.

BoxLocks,

You're right. I went back and watched the fight again.

Mitchell knocked Calzaghe a little goofy in the 2nd round. Then calzaghe gets up and starts throwin wild punches like an animal. He knocked Mitchell down quickly. Mitchell gets up and hangs on for a while longer before the ref stops it.

So far, Calzaghe has mentioned a couple of things:
first off he says he might lose; anything can happen; this may be his toughest fight, etc.
secondly he says he may retire if he loses. I am not sure, but I don't think he has ever even contemplated losing before. He does seem a tad concerned. Kind of giving me the same impression Jermain Taylor gave me before Pavlik. Like the old saying, "when there is any doubt, there is no doubt". Can Kessler, if he manages to actually outbox Calzaghe, get a decision in Wales?

Thats the kicker frankie

Kessler will have to win rounds convinsingly to get a decision in this situation, and thats putting it lightly, to be honest I think he has to dominate at least 7 rounds to win a split decision here. Against an experienced and polished southpaw like Calzaghe thats a very tough chore. The only value I see here is a Calzaghe decision at +200

He defeated Mundine via decision in a competetive fight in Australia.

Besides I think Kessler can win 7 rounds convincingly.

He sure as hell can't if the same ref from the Peter Manfredo fight is reffing. Had to be the easiest money Peter ever made in his life. No scratches, block almost all the punches, not even a sweat but of course an early stoppage. Im not saying Manfredo wins but that stoppage was a joke. someone remind Kessler to fire back if he is against the ropes and forget about blocking the punches. Since i havent saw Kessler fight either move over Frankie, I have to sit this one out to.

round 6 to 12 have no sound but who cares about Hbo bla bla. Its better than german comentating for sure but thats not hard to do.

Andrade took some sick combos.
kessler has incredible stamina he throws punches as hard and fast in 12 round as in the first maybe even harder.
Maybe you can understand why i was shocked to see Andrade go down in the 1 against Mack.

here's another link for kessler, against mundine.

great fight to watch and very good showing by mundine, who is a quality fighter when he is on, he should move down to ** though. Looks like a lightmiddle weight anyways.
I believe the fighters that Kessler has fought prepare him pretty good for Calzaghe, Mundine speeds, Andrades pressure, Beyer being southpaw(okay thats no the strongest link ). Fighting Mundine in Australia.
Problem is Calzaghe is all that in one person.
Fighting Bika manfredo and lacy on the other hand is pretty worthless as preparation for the Kessler.
