I just watched the fight. It was close but I think Mathysse deserved the nod. Mathysse put on a body work clinic from the early going. Those were thudding hard shots and HBO wasn't picking up on it at all. They had Zab comfortably ahead but I could tell those body shots were getting to him by mid fight. I had Zab winning til the kd but some rds were close til then and could have easily gone either way. There is NO way that you could give Zab any of the final 3 rds. Graham had this fight pegged spot on. He liked the 12 rds and I was nervous about it. I would have been more than happy with a draw but a win is a win. Sorry for you guys that wagered Mathysse. Mathysse will be denied the title shot and probably will be a much avoided fighter. Aside from Bradley and Khan, I'm not sure who could beat him. Despite the "loss" his stock soared tonight. I think that was probably Zab's last stand. Mathysse knocked all the starch out of him. NO WAY in hell does he give the Argentinian a rematch.

It looked like a close fight, I had Matthysse winning 114-113 and that was with giving Zab the benefit of the doubt in one of the close rounds but you KNEW that in New Jersey, on a show promoted by Main Events, with three New Jersey judges, that Matthysse wasn't winning a close fight. ... Michael Buffer invariably announces the losing fighter's name first when a fight ends in a split decision. When he announced the first score in favour of Matthysse it was the kiss of death for the Matthysse side.

Matthysse won the last 4 rounds big plus an extra point for the knockdown. That's 5 points right there.

To score the fight for Judah, you had to give Zab the benefit of the doubt in every round the rest of the fight.

And the body work Matthysse did in rounds 3 and 4 alone gave him those rounds on my card.

I really think Zab getting the decision is a bad call, but I am biased due to my bet.

Reading around the net though, I can't find many who think Zab won.

I do want to see this, one more time, before I post next week's schedule.

Glen Johnson - Ancient Warrior - my personal hero and boxing badass.

How bout a potential King Arthur v The Road Warrior match :0corn :0corn :0corn

I'm happy for the nice payout tonight but stoked for Glen Johnson...THE class of boxing. Met him at the Kirkland/Albert card in Primm a few yrs ago. Super nice guy and very approachable. I bet a boatload on Dawson in their 1st go and I thought Dawson was pretty lucky to get the nod...story of Johnson's career. Nice to see him finally get some just desserts in the twilight of his career. Hopefully he doesn't get Ward for his next go.

Really good week!

Only letdown was the Zab fight and that I was too late to bet on a draw on the Chilemba fight!

:toast: Could not agree more! :toast:

Nice weekend so far as Stephane Jamoye won again his opponent. For the rest of the weekend, I share the "general" oppinon on most of the favorites: Johnson should get it done, maybe even by late stoppage, the same for Rees. Lopez inside.

In addition I did some parlays and I got some nice draw odds for all fights this weekend. Regarding "underdogs" - have some small/mid amounts on Oosthuizen and Matthysse (maybe evenby late stoppage)...

Good luck to the Crew!

Cheers
LotL

I can not complain ;-)
Only Matth. was a non Win... (if this would have been a Draw$)

I am happy that the whole Crew did so well:toast:

damn rewatching johnson vs green

road warrior didnt treat alan like a sparring partner

treated him like a rented mule :142smilie

no mercy, johnson went "clubbing"

to the back of green's head lol without raising ire of robert byrd

it's like what castillo did to diego in first fight, knew the right was off, and just slammed it on the shoulder/back of head
