i find quintana at +206.....a crafty southpaw that can punch a little.....very interesting....

naturally bigger guy,too....

will cotto be stronger at welter?...or does he lose a little "punching effect" on a bigger guy?...

i don`t think that quintana is the puncher that his record indicates,though.....

hard to quarrel with cotto`s resume...it`s about as solid down the line since 2002 as almost anybody....alot of very good fighters...many different styles he`s seen...

showtime`s double header is very solid...

i can`t believe i`m arguing against calzaghe..i really like the guy......but,other than lacy in his backyard,he has NO CAREER DEFINING FIGHTS....

That's bullshit. Calzaghes win over a past it Eubank is still a better win than any other current 168lb'rs, including Kessler over Beyer.

Mitchell,Reid,Woodhall,Eubank,Lacy were all top 10 guys. Not great resume but being undefeated for 13 years, the longevity deserves respect.

Ottke wouldn't fight Calzaghe in UK and Joe would have been a fool to risk his title and record against Ottke in Germany, after all those dodgy decisions and officiating Ottke recieved. (remember Ottke-Reid?)

Hopkins bottled out of a fight with Calzaghe a few years back after agreeing to a purse but then demanded double.

Calzaghe has been the man at 168 for the last few years, so he should be fighting at home. Just as RJJ, Hopkins & Mayweather have never left the USA. If he were to travel now then it should be to Denmark or Germany for a fight with Kessle.

Apparently a fight with Taylor in the states is next after Manfredo, that's probably why he';s only just tapped into HBO.

i`d like to see calzaghe come to the states.....i doubt it`ll happen,though...and certainly not vs a full fledged legit super middle or lt heavy.....

all the guys you mentioned are "good" fighters(maybe with the exception of lacy being a rung up the ladder if he revives his career).....no superior fighter in the group....

eubanks,as you said, being the closest.he was very good in his prime.....but he was over the hump....

no kessler`s there...

my guess is that the hopkins fight would have been in the u.k......yes?..no?

lacy went to england....he was a champion...and the favorite...so i guess maybe HE was the man prior to the fight......

and calzaghe destroyed lacy...so,why not give him a rematch in the states?...after all,it`s a foregone conclusion...an easy win....right?.....and he could make a fortune....

tit for tat....but,it won`t happen..i`ll never figure out why managers don`t always get a"home and home" rematch clause written in for these high profile fights....makes to much sense,i guess...

and calzaghe/kessler will never happen...in denmark....we both know that....

i remember one of my favorite fighters...barry mcguigan...very tough, but limited.....beating juan laporte, eusebio pedroza and bernard taylor in england....then coming to the states and losing to stevie cruz.....

home court is huge.....huge!

calzaghe knows it....we all know it...that`s why many potentially great fights aren`t being made...

btw...if lacy loses tonight...or even struggles....there`d obviously be no need for a rematch with joe....

that`s a given...

No Calzaghe was regarded as the man, not Lacy. That's why Lacy was the one to travel.

Here are a few major ratings prior to Calzaghe/Lacy

Ring Magazine: Calzaghe #1 Lacy #3
ESPN: Calzaghe #1 Lacy #2
MaxBoxing: Calzaghe #1 Lacy #2
Boxingtalk.net: Calzaghe #1 Lacy #2
Fightnews: Calzaghe #1 Lacy #2
IBO Computerized rankings: Calzaghe #1 Lacy #3
Boxing Writers' Rankings Poll: Calzaghe #1 Lacy #2

On the whole Lacy was always regarded higher than Kessler, but below Calzaghe.

No fighter that gets destroyed in that manner by the main man of the division, warrants an immediate rematch.

You're right that Calzaghe/Kessler would never happen in Denmark, but it would make much more business sense having the fight in UK where Calzaghe can sell 20K+ seats. Plus TeamPalle lost money on the Beyer fight and they struggle to pull in the viewers, only 370k watched Kessler/Beyer as Palle has a deal with only a small tv channel and something like 6k sold at the gate.

i wish they could make calzaghe/kessler in vegas.....not sure if there are enough hardcore fight fans to get it done at a neutral.....not realistic,i get that...

was nice seeing adamek/briggs at a neutral site,though....

i was referring to the oddsmakers when saying that lacy was "the man"....they are usually sharper than any bogus ranking body...

my point is,that home court...particularly in the u.k.....is an enormous advantage.....

an advantage that can hardly even be calculable....that`s why a guy like calzaghe protects it like it were his life`s blood....

the problem?..smart fighters understand the disadvantage of fighting on his home turf....

kessler does the same thing.....although,you have to give him big props for going to australia to beat mundine.....

that`s why you have to show real respect for the glenn johnson`s and the pedroza`s and the miguel cottos who win everywhere.........

homecourt is huge...ask spadafora, the great matt vanda and even excellent fighters like hatton and calzaghe...and jeff lacy...lol

calzaghe may very well give lacy another boxing lesson in a rematch....but,if i were lacy,i`d fire my whole crew for making that fight in britain.....

obviously, lacy`s none to bright...certainly threw a huge monkey wrench into a burgeoning career....

huge blunder.....

Not to get in the middle of this, but no one prevented Lacy from kicking Joe's ass except Joe. If a decision was out of the question, then drop the SOB. This fight was so lopsided it was scary. Lacy looked totally lost and bewildered. At one point in Joe's corner, Calzaghe says "this guy ain't shit". At any rate, if Lacy doesn't gobble this guy up tonite, he needs to enroll in a trade school.

Huge week

Huge week

Lacy wins by 10 round majority decision

I taped the fight, haven't watched it yet, but I read that it was home cookin'

Works for me, the location and promotion of the fight is part of the reason I played it

i didn`t see it either...and just from reading about it,i`ll have to admit that lacy blows......

and he has no business whatsoever re-matching calzaghe....ever....

i don`t think i underestimated tsypko....i overestimated lacy..

was he really all that powerful?....that beast...did the calzaghe beating ruin him?.....

or was he a sham all along?...

i`m just very thankful i`m not selling peanuts in the caribbean....

home cooking works for me....

Next week he fights LT. Cotto won. Margorita won. first time i saw him and wasn't impressed at all. Nice chin but a wild thrower. The kid he fought was much the better boxer but hurt his hand early and wasn't worth much the rest of the way. Winky won and i love winky but he can put you to sleep.
