"the bunker"
i`m seeing huck at 6-1?!?....unless somebody finds a more friendly line, you guys really willing to chance total catastrophe for such a small return?......

scares me to death....

and i agree with ghost...i really hope green can ice jones and end this bum-of-the-month business.....

i find it distasteful to see these over-the-hill traveling road shows that are designed to keep past their prime guys like jones` name in the limelight......

you have enough bling,roy....

i want to throw something down on danny, but,i fear it`s a bad style match-up....

Danny Green +250 - good size play - I think this line is off, maybe way off. Danny Green is a good fighter. I suppose the reasoning is that he is a bit square and plodding...that Roy will outquick and box him the way Mundine did. But Roy is almost 41. He does not do that unless his opponents allow him to. Green is neither a slow fighter. If he gives steady pressure, cuts off the ring, and backs Roy to the ropes... I see Jones going into that shell.

-Roy's fights have had a sideshow feel for a while now. Hanshaw, Ajamu, retired Trinidad, Sheika, Lacy...decent fighters but... How would you like Green's chances vs. any of these guys? If Green does not get caught up in the 'sideshow' of fighting Roy, he will win the fight on activity and intensity alone.

-We have seen some clear examples lately of how being at home helps so much. Green is the home fighter here, and something of an icon in Australia. Roy is far far away from his Pensacola comfort zone, on the other side of the planet. Been eating different food, getting different rest for a while...Tough for an old man who is set in his ways.

-I also think the Cruiser limit helps Green... Green looked real strong last time out, coming in mid-180's I think. The extra weight does nothing for Roy, just slows him down as far as I can tell.

I really like this play, and will be the first significant one of the week. I see a couple of GREAT weekend as well.

Big week!!!

Quanah, hang in there bro !
You have brought great knowledge to these boards and have made some outstanding fight calls.
I have been doing this since 2002 and this is the first year I haven't made money. 2009 has been completely fucked. Horrible breaks and bad decisions. Just recently, the Botha decision, the Edgar Sosa headbutt, and last night, the decision on the Funeka-Guzman bout. Don't judge your capping abilities on this crazy year. I feel a great year coming up in 2010 !
:mj06: :mj06: :mj06:

This is a big week coming up and you are gonna turn things around - BIG MONEY for you THIS WEEK !

:toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

Let's get'em this week!! :SIB

I'm not so sure about the Jones Green fight.

I tought Roy looked much better in his last 2 fights, and Green...I dont know....if you get outboxed by Beyer and Mundine you cant be too great.

I agree with you on Jones looking better the last two fights - but I seriously believe I can fight better than Sheika and Lacy these days. Roy hand-picked two completely shot fighters. I think Green is better than both of them BY A MILE.

I watched the Green-Mundine fight and Mundine boxed circles around Green. But I think Mundine has much more left than Roy Jones at this point.

Certainly, this is no SURE THING. Roy could win every round. But I think there is value in a Green play. For many of the reasons Quanah mentioned. Venue, Roy's age, Green's determination. This fight is WAY more important to Green than it is to Roy Jones. If Green KOs Jones, he is an all-time legend in Australia. They already love the guy passionately down under.

I think that Green has a good chance to KO Jones in the first 6 rounds. I did notice, though, against Mundine Green didn't have any answers after round 6. The longer it goes, the more i favor Jones.

The last two Jones fights have almost looked "arranged" to me. I really hope Green isn't on the take. I love boxing and I hate that these thoughts even cross my mind, but some of Roy's fights haven't looked on the up and up to me.

Ghost- You're my brother and all that BUT I have to disagree with you that this fight is way more important to Green than RJJ. This fight is basically the last fight before Jones rematches Hopkins (in what could potentially be his last big figure payday). Roy knows damn well he has to win or he'd be out of millions and become an afterthought. He won't be taking this fight lightly and look for him to put on a clinic in Australia. He'll follow Mundines gameplan to the T. Don't think he hasn't watched that fight a dozen times.....:box2:

Good god.....I don't see anything that makes me believe Overeem loses this....K1 can be crazy....but Overeem has been an absolute wrecking machine and I can't imagine Teixera is any more dangerous than Badr Hari or Arts. Wow. Just wow.

ROY JONES JR. TAKES ON DANNY GREEN THIS WEDNESDAY MORNING TO BE SEEN INTERNATIONALLY ON GFL

FIGHT WILL NOT BE SEEN IN THE UNITED STATES OR AUSTRALIA

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW YORK (NOVEMBER 30, 2009)?This Wednesday, Roy Jones Jr., one of the legends of boxing looks to win the IBO Cruiserweight title as he travels to Sydney, Australia to face the popular Aussie, Danny Green.

The action will take place at the Acer Arena in Sydney and the fight card will feature a big five fight undercard and will be broadcasted live on www.gofightlive.tv around the world beginning at 6pm local time in Sydney. (Sydney is sixteen hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time in the United States).

The whole show will be able to be seen for $9.99 around the world with the exception of the United States and Australia and can be accessed by clicking:

http://www.gofightlive.tv/showEvent.do?event=562

For Jones it is a chance to show the fans down under firsthand what the American fans have seen for twenty-one years and that is that he is one of the most electrifying fighters ever to grace the sport.

Jones is coming of a scintillating destruction over former Super Middleweight champion, Jeff Lacy.

Jones of Pensacola, Florida exploded on the scene at 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea. Jones did not win the Gold medal due to some controversial scoring but was named the outstanding Boxer for the Games.

Jones then went on to win the Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light heavyweight and Heavyweight championship of the world and for the better part of a decade was considered, Pound for Pound the best boxer in the world.

Jones has a record of 54-5 with forty knockouts.

Should Jones reign victorious he would then set the stage a rematch with Bernard Hopkins, who fights Enrique Ornelas later that night in Philadelphia, in what is one of the most anticipated rematches in recent memory as Jones holds a unanimous decision victory over Hopkins in 1993

Green will be looking to thrill the hometown fans as he has a chance to make history by defeating the legendary Jones.

Green, 27-3 with twenty-four knockouts has very impressive credentials as he turned pro in 2001 and over the next two years knocked out the first sixteen opponents before challenging Markus Beyer for the WBC Super Middleweight title.

In that bout, Green dropped Beyer two times before being disqualified for head butts in a controversial finish. Three more wins later set up a rematch with Beyer and despite suffering a twelfth round knockdown, Beyer escaped with a twelve round split decision in yet another controversial bout.

In 2006, Green challenged former WBA Super Middleweight champion, fellow Aussie Anthony Mundine in what was one of the biggest bouts in the history of Australia. Green lost a very close unanimous decision.

Since then, Green has gone 6-0 with five knockouts which includes a fifth round pounding of Julio Cesar Dominguez on the Jones ? Lacy undercard to set up this huge international event.

Fans will also be treated to a full five fight undercard which will feature former WBA Featherweight champion, Derrick Gianer (41-7-1, 24 KO?s) taking on Steve Willis (12-0-2, 6 KO?s); Verquan Kimbrough (21-2-3, 7 KO?s) against Will Tomlinson (9-0-1, 9 KO?s) in a Jr./ Welterweight bout; Tui Levin (9-2, 6 KO?s) battling Ryan Walters in a Jr. Middleweight bout; Rayco Saunders (16-12-2, 7 KO?s) against Walter Pupu?a (11-4, 8 KO?s); Rey Anton Olante (8-12-2) takes on Sedat Tasci (5-1-2, 2 KO?s) in Lightweight bout.

?This is a much anticipated fight and we are very excited to bring it to the fans around the world?, said David Klarman, vice-president of www.gofightlive.tv

?Roy Jones is a legend and this is truly an international event with huge ramifications and with the great response we received from the Lacy fight and the inquiries we have received so far for this event, we know it?s going to be a special event?

The fights will start at the following times in these cities/countries:

Berlin 8am
Paris 8am
London 7am
Toronto 2am
Tokyo 4pm
Manila 3pm
Athens 8am
Cardiff 7am
Beijing 3pm
Mexico City 1am
San Juan 3am

This is another reason I think Overeem is a GREAT bet against Teixera. The promoters want the rematch with Badr Hari in the finals or semi-finals. Teixera doesn't fit in this picture. Jesus, Badr Hari means business - he is HUGE.

I have to say
Roy looks better at that weigh in than I thought he would

Eddie makes a good point about the Hopkins fight - politrix are always of concern in boxing

but I still reckon Green has a shot at taking this

One question I would love to ask Roy if I ever interviewed him - why didn't he jump on Calzaghe in the first round when he had him hurt? One of the weirdest things I have ever seen - totally blew his chance to win that fight.

-Anyone know what time, EST, the Green-Jones fight is scheduled to start? Something like 2 am I reckon.

-Any of you UK guys... What can you tell us about Kevin Mitchell and/or Stevie Bell? Any inside info...how is current training going, etc. would be much appreciated. Any amateur pedigree for Bell? I've seen Mitchell a couple of times...he looked pretty sharp - against poor competition. He seems to have been relatively innactive and protected though...Any particular reason for that? He still is pretty young. Anything you could offer would be helpful.

thanks
