Miguel Acosta seems to be a very "shiek" pick amongst boxing people. But I don't see a lot of tangible reasons being given. Most people have only seen this guy in one bout.

It's honestly a tough fight to call. Small play for me. But I think Rios is gonna eventually smash him.

The stuff I've read comparing Antillon to Rios is INSANITY. Rios is WAY better than Urbano in my mind. We are talking about constant, calculated pressure and aggressive body work (Rios).
Not just slow-motion, face-first, take 8 to get in 1 (Antillon).

Acosta is a beautiful counter striker, but he has to have room to throw and time to get the punches off. I think Rios is going to make it really uncomfortable for the Venezuelan. In the Peterson bout, Rios showed under-rated hand speed.

Brandon is also going to be MASSIVE on the night (closer to 150 I imagine).

I don't doubt Acosta's skill level. But there is just no way I can back a guy that was dropped twice by Adjaho. I think he is going up against too much momentum here. Bam Bam to smash smash by round 8 (maybe down on the cards).

I agree 100% mate.

Urbano was giving Acosta all he could handle and I think Bam Bam is a much better version of Urbano.

Bam Bam will eventually smash him and might make it look easy.

It's pretty much the way I see this fight going as well. Acosta was having problems with Antilons pressure. Antilon didnt have good enough D to keep the good sharpshooter on the run though. Acosta is a very good fighter and I think it's a tough pick but I'm going w/Rios. I got him +120 opening. Not a huge play but couldn't resist +odds on Rios. Good posts Ghost and Wee!

Also VERY nice call on Donaire last week. Hope you put a bundle on it Wee :toast:. I played Donaire but still in a bit of conserve mode after an early yr big loss on Provo.

Zerwas can you imagine blindly betting Teddy Atlas' picks for the last couple years?

I think he picked against Wlad K. 10 fights in a row
:142smilie :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

Atlas is HALL OF FAME level bad with his picks

Good luck to everyone tonight, whichever side you bet.

The Stephen Foster card should start in a few hours.

I'm going with Acosta tonight. I'm in a good spot with last nights results and will probably hedge.

I agree Romi
seemed to me Lyon was coming on

he was having a very good rd...based on that rd and the venue, lyons PROBABLY would have prevailed but we'll never know...not a bad scrap btw 2 non world class fighters.

Postponed

Postponed

Juergen Braehmer's defence against Nathan Cleverly has been pushed back by 7 weeks until the 21st May.

It was originally pencilled in for early April and will now take place on the same evening as Jean Pascal vs Bernard Hopkins.

No word yet on WHY the push back - but Braehmer has done this before.

Now Foster looks dead again
announcers question whether he is tight at the weight
looks drained and losing momentum
intriguing fight

Foster goes down in round 9
and now Foster is definitely going to need a KO for the win
he looks toasted - not sure he will make it to the end
