just a little joke...don`t see that here in the states...

i was a big fan of maurice hope ..i thoroughly enjoyed watching his fights with rocky mattioli back in the day...they were two of my faves...

i wish more americans embraced boxing like the brits do....i wish we had that sense of nationalism....

we don`t...

I remember Maurice Hope v Benitez. Benitez was not known for a big punch but he timed Hope just perfectly with a right hand BOMB. Hope was out cold before hitting the canvas :sadwave: .

Does anybody else think Clottey is live? I think -500 for Pac is a bit off. +400 on a SOLID welter that NOBODY has ever had an easy time with is worth a tickle IMO. I think Pac is a GREAT fighter but I'm still not convinced he's the best @147. That being said I do think Clottey will have a tough time getting a legit dec over Arums cash cow. I'm playing clottey small, over 8 1/2 and over 9 1/2 to pull a profit even if Pac wins a dec. If Pac can get this guy out of there then I'll put him in legendary status.

I think the over is the safest bet. I'm afraid Clottey wont get any favors from the judges and he wont stop Pacman either...
Freddie predicts a late ko and he's been pretty accurate with his predictions. I'm not sure if Paquio can ko Clottey, but I wonder if Clottey is really ambitious to go 12 if he doesnt belive he can win....should go 12 rounds though.

I'd like to find a book to wager on the winner. I can't go with the UK books, and the ones available tend not to post tourney winner odds. Just odds on the 1st rd match-ups, which doesn't make much sense.

I don't think 5D has done winner odds in the past, or SB. Anyone know of another option?

odds from bwin:

Prizefighter winner - 21:00
Turniersieger
Bradley Pryce (WAL) 3.50

Neil Sinclair (NIR) 4.25

Steve O'Meara (ENG) 6.50

Prince Arron (ENG) 7.50

Danny Butler (ENG) 7.50

Brett Flourney (ENG) 11.00

Martin Concepcion (ENG) 14.00

George Hillyard (ENG) 20.00

unfortunately, so far only the European bookies have odds on the tourney winner!

Who do you pick?

Denis Lebedev KO4 Ignacio Esparza

Denis Lebedev KO4 Ignacio Esparza

Esparza gave gave Enad Licina a decent test a fortnight a ago. And Lebedev cuts him down in 4. I'd like to see him with Huck, Afolabi and Cunningham. I think he beats all three.

Yeah, Laila tries to act "black" or "street" and it's quite unbecoming. Yet she grew up middle class or better and never set foot in a ghetto.

it was kinda funny though when she was jawing with Christy Martin and said, "you look here, little mama."

How bout when she knocked out Martin, went over and kicked her on the ground and laughed at her.

What a piece of crap.

Where were the odds on that one
This guy appears to be The Real Deal. I was hoping for odds.

Never saw them. I think the odds maker is a bit too discerning.

Do you not like him?. It's almost sacrilige to talk bad about Ali in boxing circles but I have to say he's not @ top of my list of genuine people. He's was my childhood idol for years but over time as an adult I grew to dislike him more and more. Not too long ago he made the remark that "my daughter married a white guy, but it's ok because he's a muslim"...seriously wtf? He still hasn't forgiven whitey for numerous things, but he is loved and respected the world and boxing community over.

Oh, I didn't recall that but that is ugly.

I know this is is off topic but you have to see this 3 minute video from youtube. Funny as hell.

OH SHIT !!!!!!!!

:142smilie :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

That's one of the funniest things I have ever seen !
:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

Old man strength ! What a right jab to start things off ! Don't fck with your elders son. You must have forgot !
:mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

I love at the end when the guy says
"I'll beat your ass" or something like that, and then two seconds later is like "call an ambulance"

HAHAHAHAHAAA
:142smilie :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie :142smilie

bunch of replies on youtube trying to make it a racial issue. But all I see is an old-timer putting a beatdown on a young punk. Didn't matter if that young guy was black, white, hispanic. Dude got what was coming to him. Don't start what you can't finish!

Ali has always said early on that black and white should never procreate.

(Not that word, of course - :mj07: :mj07: :142smilie :142smilie )

But he certainly had strong relationships with whitey -Angelo Dundee, Howard Cosell et al. Even the cop that got Ali into boxing was a white cop but a good dude for the young man.

It's just how he felt about that particular thing. And very honest. Doesn't make him a blatant racist in my view.

I think he hated red neck guys who he knew hated him. Can't blame him there.

Think about the south in those years before civil rights. It's no wonder southern blacks may have been quite wary. But he could tell when people didn't see him like that and I believe he readily accepted them - even with Malcolm and Elijah chattering in his ear.

Urbano Antillon

Urbano Antillon

Anyone see his war with Luis Antonio Arceo. It was shaping up as FOTY candidate but a cut on Arceo cut it short in 3rd. It was a brutal gash and didn't see a head clash so I suppose it was the right call. But Arceo was as game as could be and still firing back hard with all his faculties.

Now I see why Arceo gave one of the Peterson brothers a recent scare. Antillon got hit lots in that fight - he's got to improve on that. It looked like Antillon had an edge but it was grueling. Wanted to see that one through as a fan since there was no line anywhere on it.

No doubt, he had no love for red necks :142smilie but it went a bit beyond that. I'm not going to down play his accomplishments...he did more than I'll accomplish in 50 lifetimes. However he got a pass for some things that he simply crossed the line on. His betrayal of Joe Frasier went well beyond promoting a fight. Frasier was an all round genuine good guy and Ali berated him relentlessly for being an "Uncle Tom". To this day Frasier still has a difficult time reconciling Ali's treatment of him.
