with Dirrell claiming back injury, now sounds that bullshit excuse is all part of the plan to have gotten the fight right in Dirrells backyard. They prob figured they got screwed in Nottingham even though Dirrell ran and held to the max. Trainer Uli Wegner and Abraham are no dummies. Wegner already claimed suspicion stating how did Dirrel know his back injury would be fine in 3 weeks, with Wegner having to trek back to Germany for Huck's fight, with a turnaround now to Detroit. I hope Abraham leaves the runner in a heap on the canvas.

i believe it

makes sense, some guys will do anything to win

Weekend plays

Weekend plays

3 mains plays this weekend:

Jones-Bruseles UNDER 7.5 (-140) Top play. I like Mike Jones. Big strong wide-shouldered welter. Good amateur, and from Philly so you know he's been in tough. Strong puncher and I think recent rounds against durable fighters has been intentional.

Jones seems primed for a breakout performance here. A fight of some exposure - TV, Top Rank. I think they have found the perfect opponent. Bruseles is a fighter of some note, but he has had a long career. He has been in many wars and has been dropped numerous times. Now he is moving up in weight to face, by far, his biggest fighter ever. Jones is much the bigger man here, and I think this will really show on fight night. I don't think Bruseles will be prepared to handle what Jones brings. KO 4-6

Vazquez Jr.-Sonsona OVER 8.5 (-120) High KO % between them but still, I see this as more of a technical battle. High skill levels from both will, I think, result in a good defensive and precision punching fight that is likely to go rounds.

Rodel Mayol (-110) Solid top 10 fight at the weight. Both have been in good form. To me though, there seems to be something extra strong about Mayol at light fly. He looks like a 115 pounder on fight night. He went thru a bad patch in his career, when he wasn't sponsored or trained right, but now he's got that together...and has been showing improvement. Tough fight here, but I think that Mayol's strength will make the slim difference.

Kaiser Mabuza (+650) - small Just a little fun here. Holt can be very classy, but there is also something inconsistent about him. Wins over Tackie and Hopkins were unimpressive. I think he can lack motivation, and for fights just like this one. Holt hasn't fought in a long time, and coming off loss. Mabuza has been winning against improving oppostion. He has also won on the road, and is coming off of a win against a 23-0 opponent in the Ukraine. He is a hard worker type, which is exactly what could trouble a bored Holt.

If Holt is on his game he wins smooth. If not though, he could find himself neck deep in an unexpected gruelling affair.

Prizefighter I'll go with Butler, O'Meara, and a little less Sinclair to win their 1st rd matches. I'll say Butler takes the whole shabang by beating O'Meara in the finals.

Good luck madmen!!!!
Let's get'em

Hey, SB is showing odds on the Prizefighter winner! First time I've seen that. Thanks Oddessa, if you had something to do with that.

My dog Butler is way down at +340, but I'm still happy to get the lines.

Ortiz winning but not sharp at all. Damaged goods??

Watched the Ortiz fight, and man, it was painfully boring until that 10th round uppercut.
Alatorre is kind of a tough guy to get out, but Ortiz looked dreadful at times. He seems to be thinking SO MUCH in there. The guy is just a mental case me thinks. Pretty viciousless until the final flurry and KO. I gotta wonder how he would have fared against a tougher opponent tonight. I was not impressed.

Maidana took his soul me thinks , this was one of the most dramatic fights I have seen in a while . Ortiz was totally devastated after the fight in the interview .
Khan better not fight Maidana if he doesn't want to get chinned like Ortiz :mj07:

That was the type of fight where you grow up and become a man, or get ruined
He still has the physical gifts, but Victor looks nothing like the guy who was wrecking fools before the Maidana fight
Sort of like when Trinidad lit Vargas up in the 1st round years ago
that shot changed Vargas' whole career
and I think Maidana may have changed Ortiz the same way
Ortiz can do as many interviews as he wants, reminding people he is not a quitter
but it looks like he knows, deep down, what we all know
When the going got rough, HE QUIT

Parlay
Mike Jones to Danny Butler

These Prizefighter tourneys are extremely unpredictable, but I agree with Quanah.

Hopefully Butler has learned something from his tough defeats to Mcdermott and Barker.

I don't know much about Flourney, but I'm thinking Butler knows enough about the tournament conditions here and can snake a decision.

Not a big play here, just something to get the weekend started. Already have Jones finishing a few parlays from last week.

By the way, all fighters made weight on the 1st attempt, except for Prince Arron. He missed and had to re-weigh later in the day.

personally, i think king arthur`s a tad overrated....
if he wins here,i will give him his just due...

i was honestly hoping to see abraham vs froch in england....i think the styles would make for a great fight(while it lasted)...

yea, the jury is still out on Abraham I suppose.. strong as an ox. I believe he hits harder and more accurate than Froch, so when he does catch Dirrell with something, it's track meet time and Dirrell will see if he can steal a decision like he tried with Froch. Love this Showtime tourney, will find out who's who.. and would ilke to see Bute fight the winner.

I tought Abraham looked a little stiff in the early rounds against Taylor.

He really has a winners attitude tought (cant say the same thing about Dirrell) and his defence will really be a puzzle for most opponents....

If Arthur doesn't get him out, he could suffer a points loss, perhaps controversially.

Dirrell is fast but his stock dropped a bit against Froch. He's skittering, off balance and does fight "afraid."

He may have edged Froch but he gave a negative impression with way too much movement and holding.

I do think Arthur can hurt Dirrell but I don't see Dirrell damaging Arthur.

King Arthur is a money fighter that will probably rise to the occasion against the pseudo-confident Dirrell. Abraham by KO in the 10th.

5dimes put up odds on the Roman-Rosado fight. Only $100 limits but better than nothing if you like something.
