Conyers all but stopped him in the first rd; Kirkland quickly rose from the first knockdown, and walked straight into another right that turned his legs to jelly.

Had Conyers applied intelligent pressure he would have won in that first rd.

If there's a prop on Kirkland being dropped i will be all over it.
I don't recall him being that hurt but perhaps my memory isn't serving me well. What I remember was Kirkland wanted to eschew his standing 8 count and jump back in the fray. And then he absolutely annihilated Conyers. BTW, Conyers in no future champ but the man can seriously crack.

I remember the fight as Kramden does. I do not believe Kirkland was that hurt.

I have to watch it again though.

Shit
was just going to do a write-up on this one for the boards, now boxrec is listing it as cancelled

Denis Bakhtov (28-5) vs. Steffen Kretschmann (13-0)

I was fairly strong on the sollid amateur Kretschmann here. Bakthtov has been KO'ed by Saul Montana and Sanil Sam for christ sake!
The fight has been rescheduled for 5/15/09
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=373574&cat=boxer

One thing I really hate about fights being cancelled last minute is the way (some) sportsbooks handle it. When Abraham came down with the "flu" on fight day against Marquez in October, most of us had to wait a freaking month to get the Abraham money.

If the fight is re-scheduled for a date more than a week or two later, the books should really void and refund. It's ridiculous business to make a customer wait 2 or 3 months.

This weekend is March 7th. I will be none too happy if my money is tied up until almost June due to this one fight!

I have 2 max wagers on kirk/julio under -120 and -135 8 1/2. Those lines are going to move. I was thinking the over/under rd would be 6 1/2. Somebody is getting kod in this one.

Anybody like Alvarez' chances against Rodriguez? Delvin folded against the likes of feliciano. Clottey clearly won but Alvarez came on strong late in their fight. Delvin isn't in Clotteys league. I see Alvarez as live @+250.

I thought the odds would be a little closer for D-Rod vs. Alvarez, Romi

I was thinking -180/+140 range

Shamone doesn't have a big punch, but neither did Feliciano
I'm a big Clottey guy, and I think Alvarez put up a decent showing there

Alvarez has a little bit of cruise control in him that worries me, but I think he has a shot to win this fight

The odds on Alvarez look enticing but I don't think he get's it done. Clottey really controlled him and Alvarez was fighting mostly in retreat. But for a difference in power he didn't really separate himself against Terence Cauthen. Delvin did fold against Feliciano but that may have been the best Jesse has ever been and since he reached that peak, he has fallen dramatically - Cintron may have ruined him in his brave effort.

Alvarez doesn't have the kind of fight that Jesse had in him that night. Alvarez may make some rounds close but Rodriguez has a power edge, is probably the better talent and doesn't have to worry about Alvarez walking him down with brutal pressure. If anything, Alvarez will respect Delvin's power and just try to make things look good for himself by surviving and winning a few rounds. Shamone merely a fringe contender - if that.

excellent post. I did see the Cauthen fight and I have to agree with your comments. Alvarez was timid there.

the betting public seems to agree with you...odds on Delvin now -340

I have Ortiz vs. Arnoutis over 9.5 @-115.

Ortiz is a good puncher, but Arnoutis showed a good chin when he fought Holt, Urango and Torres.

Zertuche is out against Demers. I guess he failed his medicals. I was looking at the over on that but if he wasn't right perhaps it's best that he's out.

Anyone seen lines on Mike Alvarado vs. Emmanuel Clottey or any one else on that Denver (TV Azteca) card.:0corn

Alvarez is a skilled live dog but he seems to do just barely enough to get by.
I hate betting guys like him and Ishe Smith as they seem to have the talent without the desire.

Good luck :toast:

Not surprised that Zertuche failed the medical...Pavlik and Rubio brutally knocked him out. He probably has more than a few screws loose.

You know what Kramden, I am really disappointed there are no odds for Alvarado vs. Clottey. Maybe the fight got made too late.
I think this kid Alvarado is under-rated. He is vastly improved from a few years ago. He's been starching fools left and right.

It will be interesting to compare Ortiz' performance vs. E. Clottey to Alvarado's Saturday.

I'm hot on Alvarado, too. I think he gets Clottey out of there. Alvarado is not quite the puncher of Ortiz but he is busy, rugged and strong. Down the road Alvarado will fight Ortiz and at this moment I don't know who I like. I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Alright I decided to role with Romi. I am taking Jamie Moore in England today. Not a smart thing going against the brother weepaul, but I think Piccirillo is shitty. Mayorga and Forrest both beat the tar out of him. Last year the guy only had two 6 rounders in Italy. And, like I said, he is 39 years old.

Graham, as well, seems to think Piccirillo could keep this close. But I'm gonna go for Moore. I'm hoping the hometown crowd can help the younger fighter dig deep.

My play:

PARLAY - bet 2 to win 1
JAMIE MOORE/BRAHMER/GUERRERO

Too big a price to go on on Moore alone. I believe Brahmer and Guerrero will win quite easily.

As far as the ESPN fight, I can't figure it out. NO PLAY for me on D-Rod vs. Alvarez. This one reminds me of Mack vs. Henry from a few weeks ago. I could see a split decision. I will probably just throw 10 bucks on the draw.

Good luck crew

I only have a small bet on this partner and I think Romi is probably correct.

"the bunker"
i`ve watched espn 2 for better than an hour and they are treating alvarez like he`s an afterthought...

picture after picture of rodriguez....not one picture...not hardly a mention of alvarez except when rodriguez is mentioned.......

i have nothing going here...and i`m not crazy about alvarez...don`t like him......but for the guys that have alvarez by decision,i doubt you have much chance of getting home...

this is a rogriguez promotion and they`re treating alvarez like a journeyman...

sort of shocking....like it`s a foregone conclusion...

what were the odds on this?..must have been quite large...

I hedged w/Delv by dec -130...I'll push if that hits. If Alvaez wins then I get a few bucks. If Delv ITD hits then I lose both wagers. Good Luck.
