Hey Weasel,
If you don't mind me asking how much of your bankroll do you have on the fight? I like Kessler alot but I've waited till now to place a bet and the line has gone up from when it opened. Do you think the line moves at all before the fight?

Hey Weasel,

i`ve bet 1/4 before......this is a bit more than that.....which means i`m betting about 1/25th of a decent sized weepaul wager...:grins:

what i`m thinking is this....kessler`s lost twice...once to h.o.f`er joe calzaghe in wales.....once to potential future h.o,f`er andre ward(who hasn`t lost a fight, pro or amateur since 1998...the first american olympic gold medalist in 8 years) in ward`s hometown of oakland......

what do both calz and ward have in common?...quicks...multi-faceted styles...both master boxers....both super talented boxers...hand and foot speed...

kessler lost to probably the two best 168 pounders in the short history of the division(might be jumping the gun a tad on ward....and maybe i`m not)....

both were away fights...

has kessler even been in a close fight aside from these two losses?...i don`t recall any...other than these two master boxers, kessler`s been dominant....particularly vs other european style fighters...guys that aren`t long on clever and quickness...

froch is a big strong guy...a roughhouser...but he doesn`t have a height or talent advantage...kessler`s the better technician...

froch has power..but kessler`s never been off his feet(that i`m aware of)...

in this tourney, froch was losing on two cards to damaged jermain taylor(the british judge had froch ahead) until taylor cooperated in the 12th(the same jermain taylor who was handled twice by kelly pavlik, struggled with kassim ouma and just squeeked by cory spinks)...

he barely beat andre dirrell in the u.k.(most on this board had dirrell wining the fight)....

now he travels to face mikkel kessler in denmark...a place where kessler`s never lost...and he`s pissed...

contrary to some,i kinda like the idea of kessler coming in off a loss...a loss to a bad style match-up for him...

this looks to be his kind of opponent....

what worries me?...the cuts from the dirrell fight...

froch`s pascal win?....a good win...in england....but beating 5`9" adrian diaconu and silvio branco doesn`t make pascal a world beater...

i just love this style match-up...i don`t see any way for froch to outpoint kessler in denmark...and if he`s the first to k.o. kessler, then he earned it....

i don`t think it happens...i think kessler uses that jab..the better hand speed and combination punching to pick froch apart and break him down in front of his countrymen....

home court is a powerful advantage in this tourney......

Arreola was right, medicated heavyweight

Arreola was right, medicated heavyweight

Is it me or does Adamek look just about the bigger man here?? Look at top photo, size of head, shoulders.. Can you say HGH , those Eastern Europeans are quite up to date with modern science .

Weigh in should be interesting.. Arreola did fight at 178, I believe it was the amateurs. Dude probably shouldn't be fighting a pound over 235.

A tad :)
When talking about 2 best 168 pounders, those can only be Roy and Calzaghe. Roy beat p2p king Toney for a title and then defended it 5 times knocking out all 5 of his opponents. In those 6 fights he lost maybe 2 rounds. Who do you have at no. 1 is matter of preference, but those two are top guys. I agree that Ward has a talent to reach their level though.

And I agree with your points regarding Kessler-Froch.
I sure hope you're right :D

James Toney on fighthype.com:

"Come on, dog! Bute would knock Bernard Hopkins out. I have been telling y'all for years Hopkins is a fraud. He went from calling out David Haye, a heavyweight, to calling out Bute, who is a super middleweight. He saw something in Bute and wanted that fight. After last night, he may be asking for a Pavlik rematch. He's not going to want anything to do with Bute. Bernard Hopkins is a cross dresser."

They are both at the 6'2 range. Photo angles can be funny. Perhaps Arreola has on flat sandals, who knows. Adamek does look a bit more bulked up while Arreola looks relatively trim. Intriguing fight.

6`4" to 6`1 and a quarter?......that`s a big fricking mistake,imo....

here`s an article from eastside in which adamek comments that he and arreola are the same height....

shame on boxrec for posting verrry incorrect info...and thanks to punch for bringing up the size issue...prompted me to look further...

Well last week boxrec was even more incorrect with heights.
Denton Vassell listed 5'10
Lee Purdy listed 5'7
But in reality Purdy was clearly taller then Vassell.

Richard Schaefer announced today Marquez-Diaz II will be July 31 on HBO PPV in Vegas

What a fucking joke Golden Boy is. Two guys coming off one-sided losses on Pay Per View? These guys don't get it.

NOBODY IS GOING TO BUY THIS. NOBODY.

They better price this thing at $10.99

I'm on CA. I wasn't impressed with him 2 yrs ago but now I think he's a little underrated. The guy can put together his punches very well. His stamina appears to be good despite the recent high wts. As I said earlier in the thread, all eyes will be on the weigh in. Adamak is solid but I'm not convinced he can take it at hvy. We know CA will dish it out and that he can take a good crack. If Adamak was having struggles v Estrada then I tend to think that CA will be a bit of a task for him. I like CA to take over mid way and probably take out Adamak around 9. I took it +120.

I have Brahmer in some parlays...I'll be more than shocked to see him lose v Plotinsky. Brahmer had a few shaky moments in his last go but I think he cruises here.

I'm building a substantial amt on Khan. Have him set to finish some parlays and have him straight up as well. I ask myself how Mags can pull this one off and I can't come up with an answer. I think Khan will have an answer for everything Mags throws his way enroute to a dominant win. More to come when the new odds come out.

Agree with Arreola bet. I placed middium bet on him.
I watched Adamek vs Estrada and score it a draw at best for Adamek. I think he give his best in Estrada fight and it will not be enough against Arreola.

on arreola- 105,too...regardless of the lack of a height advantage(not very big with the kessler bet looming)...

he will put enoromous pressure on adamek...be interesting to see if adamek can make him pay..

any way you slice it,looks like an action fight...
