Quick Prizefighter Video Preview from SKY (No surprise, they pick Hide):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3fk8WHsmEQ

I have had mixed results betting on these in the past. One time I had a clean sweep, another time I went 1 for 4. They are quite tricky, but I am gonna give it a go here.

Hide will win, but his price has skyrocketed.
For the first round, I like Corbett and Dickinson.

Corbett may not win the whole thing, but he should have enough savy, experience, and skill to get by this stiff Anthony.

Dickinson has all the elements for a Prizefighter run. Many fighters that have done well in the past installments of this series have had youth, height, reach on their side (Ovil Mackenzie, Prince Arron, Ryan Brawley, etc.).

Dickinson is the youngest competitor in the tourney at 23, but he will tower over his 1st round opponent Williams. Dickinson also has a solid amateur pedigree. As long as he doesn't get clipped, I think he can win a 3 round decision.

Both bets small for me due to the unpredictable nature of this tournament.

I agree with your takes, ghost.

Corbett and Dickinson should advance.

Dickinson is the only unbeaten figher in the tourney, maybe he's the goods, but he is still very unproven.

Corbett used to be a decent puncher. maybe he can cause a surprise!?

"the bunker"
just dropped some on victor ortiz at -150 vs nate the great....don`t think ortiz is as bad as some think after the maidana debacle.....i think maidana is a tough out for ANY legit jr welter...including bradley...

ortiz had maidana down 3 times early...he was getting used to walking over guys...i don`t think he was prepared for a guy like maidana, who was just coming off losing(winning ,imo) vs kotelnik......at 22,it was a shock to his system to meet that much resistance after blowing through pretty much eveyone....a learning experience...

ortiz is naturally bigger....2" taller...a lefty....can box as well as punch...

nate`s 38...was looking very bad vs bradley before the premature ending...

i just think it`s a changing of the guard here...too many factors in ortiz` favor,imo...

He made it, but I don't know if it was tough for him.

"The Japanese southpaw, 28, tipped the beam at 117.75, a quarter pound lighter than the 118-pound limit, which Montiel, 31, scaled in at."

The worst news of all? Lawrence Cole sighting in Japan. He has been appointed the referee. This makes me hesitate making any bet at all, after Cole's last performance in the Super Six.

Anyone remember...

Anyone remember...

when Shane Mosley was on the superstars competition with Evander Holyfield. It was at or near Holyfield's peak. I'll never forget in the 1/2 mile run Holyfield ran a freaking 2:11 while Mosley clocked about 2:23. I think that is amazing since Holy outweighed Mosley by nearly 70 pounds. That was when Holy was in high tech interval training with Tim Hallmark. Just found that interesting.

Do you know where you caught that? Montiel does look good in the pic. hesagawa always looks a bit sleepy in the face to me. But it hasn't mattered - he's been taking no prisoners.
