I attended the fight tonight in Carson, CA. The Home Depot Center was more than half empty. And the fans that were there were Armenians cheering for AA (who grew very quiet after round 4).

Ward is very effective but absolutely DREADFUL to watch. The grab and clutch style he has mastered is such a a turnoff - only Oakland will fill an arena for this guy.

AA was even worse - several rounds he threw less than 5 punches. Down the stretch, he fell right into the same traps Kessler and Green did against Ward. Andre dictates the pace in all his fights - and the minute the opponent tries to change that pace, forget about it.

Grab and hold. Clutch and Lean. Jab Jab. Repeat.

This was my first time paying to watch Ward live, and I will never do it again. The small crowd that was there emptied the arena before the decision was announced. Awful for boxing.

Ward is EXTREMELY tough to beat because he is hard to hurt cleanly. He clinches immediately if he is under fire. The opponent basically has 90 seconds of each round to outpoint or hurt Ward (because he spends the other 90 seconds tangled). Ward has created a winning style - it is BRUTAL to watch, but VERY tough to beat.

Arreola beat the piss out of Nagy, who was game and punched back as hard as he could until the ref intervened. It's not Nagy's fault - he just sucks.

New schedule in a bit. Congrats to Ward and Arreola backers.

I'm reading Ruiz/Arce was a straight up war, and this picture right here just speaks for itself :wtf:

@franks: I wonder what his connect percentage was in this fight. I actually believe he landed at a higher percantage and he did have some success, but IMO its more a mental problem! He really looked listless in some rounds!

BTW, great week!!! :toast:

Abraham, I used to like a little. Now, I don't know what happened, but it seems he is devoid of any real boxing skills. In all seriousness, he fought like a caveman; telegraphed almost all his punches and was non-active for a lot of the time. He is finished.

Good report. Nothing like being at a fight to really know what happened. As Romi says, I hope Froch gets to meet Ward. I doubt the complexion of the fight will be similar. Froch can fight. Guess that one will be in Carson also!!!!

Not a chance it will be in California. Froch is no dummy. He was very tough negotiating the venue with Abraham when they fought.

Ward has now had all 3 Super Six fights in Cali. Carson was his "road" fight. What a joke.

Let's not look past Glen Johnson (one of my all time faves and a VERY tough out for Froch), but IF Froch defeats The Road Warrior in a few weeks - we are going to see an epic fight before the fight. Ward and Froch's teams negotiating a venue.

Ward won't go the U.K, and Froch for damn sure won't go to Cali. The logical step - The Super Six Final, in Las Vegas by the end of the year. But with Ward, things aren't always fair or logical. Let's see what happens.

The Super Six was good in theory, but it really has taken far too long to play out.

anyone recall seeing footage of abraham sparring with a live fighter leading up to a fight..

maybe that's his problem, his style is dynamite against wegner's mitts and stale gym training

super six finale in vegas, that sounds like a must go :)

Oh yea! And since the name Pac-man isn't involved, ticks should be plentiful. I am in for that one. Vegas has an abundance of seasoned refs and judges so it could work. Johnson is dangerous, but I just think Froch is too skilled/strong/determined to lose this.

this....and someone should FORCE BUTE TO FIGHT THE WINNER IN VEGAS..........

this guy is somehow granted #1 status in the division by fighting set-up after set-up ...all in canada...while the other guys are picking one another off in legit elimination fights vs the best......

and lo and behold, bute`s next "challenge" is vs jean mendy(who was getting ass-raped by sakio bika before he lucked out on a foul).....and let`s face it...if not for some creative hometown reffing, the guy would have an "L" on his record....

it`s just bizarre....beyond belief....bute might be very good...but how would you know based on the fact that the best fighter he`s fought was bika.... who was one and done in the tourney.....

god love bute, but please, let`s make guys #1 in the division based on merit, not speculation.....fan`s can argue over who they think is #1...but supposed legit boxing entities like ring magazine aren`t doing themselves any favors with their bogus ratings criteria... they should rate on body of work.....which means both ward and froch(and probably kessler) are 1,2 and 3(not necessarily in that order)........

both ward and froch should be screaming bloody murder....

not saying that bute might not be the best....he`s a solid fighter....he might be or he might not be.......but he`s not right now, based on body of work.....

that`s all i`m saying...

Agree 100% GW. Like him or hate him Ward is a fighter. He fought Bika and Kess straight up and dominated. He started off a bit defensive minded tonight but AA hits like a jackhammer. Ward was simply fighting smart. Ward/Froch (assuming Froch gets by Johnson) is going to be an excellent matchup. Froch was much more dominant than Ward and came closer to a stoppage.

?I think Glen Johnson has only one style,? Ward said to FightNews. ?He will keep coming for Carl Froch because he doesn?t respect him in terms of power. We will see the difference in weight for Johnson and how he adapts.? So says Ward.
