just a heads up

best of luck...

What are your thoughts on Phillips-Quartey?

here`s my initial thoughts,b.l....

quartey has had 1 fight in 5 years....

the guy he beat in his comeback fight,i believe is now in jail for murder....lol...15-8 record...in ghana...see below...

""696. Clint McNeil charged with murder
by banner, 3/5/05 8:31 ET
Clint McNeil from meridian ms shot a 17 year old man from meridian....., 26 years old having his last fight in February.... DRUG-RELATED. """

no height differential...between phillips and quartey..

his last fight prior to the comeback was a beatdown to fernando vargas...vargas was way to big and strong...not sure vargas could beat phillips right now..

ike did his best work at welterweight...this may be at middleweight...

phillips` last fight was vs what many guys believe is the best jr middle in the world...kassim ouma...113-114...113-114...110-117....i had ouma winning ...fairly comfortably...but,he is kassim ouma...

in his last 16 fights, phillips is 13-3...two losses to ouma....one to silvio branco in italy...i believe branco fights at super middle and lt heavy now..he`s around 6`1" tall...and a solid fighter at lt heavy..much less jr middleweight....a bigger guy than phillips...

quartey will use his jab...phillips will come after him ...and set a hard pace...

my experience is that these long layoffs are tough to come back from...particularly depending on style...

trinidad had mayorga in front of him and looked great...

but,vargas looked stale as hell,imo...

maybe quartey is stil a great fighter....he`s going to have to outwork phillips...and that`s not easy..

both almost exactly the same age...

in their prime, quartey was better...at welter for sure....

but, phillips took awhile off after 1998 and came back with a vengeance....if not for ouma, would we be calling phillips the best jr middle in the world(since winky is moving up)?....

i could be very wrong....but,i have to look at phillips...this may be to much to soon for ike....

ike has lou dibella behind him..that`s worrisome...

i know joey opened quartey at -130..i think that`s changed... now he`s a slight dog...

the weird thing is that the props don`t reflect the odds....take a look...

it took ike 8 rounds to get rid of mcneil in his hometown....phillips doesn`t get stopped....ike will probably have to go 10 hard rounds with phillips after 5 long years off...

that`s a tough task...

always liked quartey...but,i like phillips here.....i won`t be crushed if ike proves me wrong...

looks like the books think landeros can hang with gonzales...

as i said, landeros is a big ? to me....still,if he stands in front of gonzales, and goes the distance,he`ll have earned it...the guy does have 8 whacks in his 11 wins...apparently he`s nor adverse to throwing down....if he whacks gonzales, that`ll work...i doubt that happens,though...more than doubt it...

here`s the mcneil articale...this guy must be a real beauty...

""QUITMAN, Miss. - Bond has been denied for a boxer charged with capital murder in the slaying of 17-year-old Cedric Chambliss of Meridian.

Clint McNeil, who fought three-time boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho last year, has been charged in Chambliss' shooting death.

His brother, David Bradley McNeil, 28, of Meridian, and Regina Arlene Johnson, 35, of Quitman, have been charged with accessory after the fact of capital murder.

On Monday, a Clarke County judge denied bond for Clint McNeil and set $25,000 bonds for Johnson and David McNeil.

Johnson and David McNeil have been released from the Clarke County Jail on bond.

Chambliss' body was found Jan. 3 on U.S. 11 in Clarke County near the Lauderdale County line in a car that belonged to his sister. He had been shot once in the head.

Sheriff Todd Kemp said the case will be presented to a grand jury in September. If convicted, Clint McNeil could face the death penalty. David McNeil and Johnson could receive up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $1,000.

Clint McNeil, 26, of Meridian, lost an unanimous 10-round decision in July to Camacho in a middleweight bout."""

landeros did his part...he basically chased gonzales for the first half of the fight...gonzales was bouncing around like he was facing alexis arguello....

his corner was saying.."jab..jab...jab" in mexican....

very strange fight...gonzales is known for his vicious left hooks to the body...and he did nothing like that for about 8 rounds...in the 7th,he hurt landeros a little...

he really didn`t press until the 10th...and almost stopped him with a body shot...

wonder if he knew the o/u?...

maybe the heat?...maybe he wanted rounds?...

he`s not a boxer..he`s to angular.his punches are long punches...landeros was nothing special...

if landeros was just surviving,o.k..but,he came to fight....

gonzales just went through the motions...he was very inactive...

Quiles won by 12 round UD

Releford didn't fight Polk...no action

Gonzalez didn't cash the under, but he lowered the odds on Solis tomarrow with a 10 round UD

More plays tomarrow

when I got home at 12am, and looked at the results page and saw that Releford had lost, I practically dropped a load in my pants. but then I saw a different opponent's name. yes, well I'm sure he would have beat the other guy still.

Quiles was an easy winner to pick in a sense, just sad I didn't get it early when he was a dog.

Kayongo - 155
Kayongo fights out of Minnesota and his trainer/manager is also the promoter of the card. at least the same Burnette family. that tells you they would favor the match towards their man. of course, his opponent is unknown.

Spina -230
Spina reminds of Ricky Hatton. of course, no where near as polished yet, but the same style. Carl Daniels is washed up. If Spina can beat Ntoh which he did his last fight. He shouldn't have any trouble getting to Daniels.

Probably lay a little on each guy, and come up with a parlay

i am hoping to get the Quartey-McNeil fight. of course, that won't happen before this weekend. Quartey showing a lot of balls taking on a real opponent. He will have to wear Verno out to the body. Verno will come out danicng winging those power punches. I have no opinion.

Solis is a solid top ten fighter. just going with the better fighter.
can't say I have put that much thought into that fight.

I'm taking a little off the Tyson under 3.5

Now laying .45 to win .25

.............................................................

Its ok when you add a little. But when you take away after making a bet. How exactly do you do that and keep a accurate record.

whats up with that

your record is inaccurate

Scott, this subject has already been discussed in detail

I played the Tyson under at -185, when I decided to pull a little off the play, the over was +185.

Let me know if you have any more questions

Scott, besides the golf forum, this is the most informative non-combative forum at MJs. BOX has thrown many winners our way and provided tons of info which any of the regoular readers can attest to. Many others, along with myself would consider BOX a gift horse. Keep your crap to yourself and try and show some restraint and respect for once in your life.

To BOXLOCKS, gardenweasel, Fletcher, Frank S. spreadking and any others I may have missed...Thanks for sharing your insights and picks.

Scott...King of Hypocrits

Remember the Laila Ali - Christy Martin fight?

Scott posted a play on Ali by decision and the over 9.5, then he added another play on the over 9.5.

After Ali stopped Martin in the 4th round, Scott renegged and claimed he played Ali straight, even though his posts clearly said "ALI BY DECISION"

And this guy is giving ME sh*t???

Absolutely Pathetic
