RYAN RHODES v SAUL ALVAREZ u9?-110 (quad pop)

I'm usually pretty leery of these surefire prospect types but I think Alvarez is the nuts. He gave Matt Hatton a tenacious beating.

Now's enters a 34 year old Brit in about his 100th career fight, leaving the UK for the first time, and entering the Lion's Den (Guadalajara). Rhodes lost to Gary Lockett who if you recall nearly got decapitated by Kelly Pavlik in one of the biggest main event routes of the last few years.

I just cannot see this being competitive.

I was wondering how Guerrero would do at 154, since he has never been that low!

Apparently the weight loss hurt him!

I thought Guerrero was a bit overrated but not THAT overrated. And the thing is, Brewer's attack was crude and counterable but Guerrero just got lost once he was dazed and went gently in the night.

i was thinking along the same lines.....but after reading up on this one(not all that familiar with rhodes),there seems to be some solid folks giving rhodes half a shot here....

they think rhodes is quicker....and might actually give canelo trouble, particularly early.....what i saw on youtube wasn`t bad...he`s got pretty quick feet and hands and throws all the shots from different angles....and he can hurt you.......the jamie moore fight was fantastic...

but he`s european and white...and unless your name is calzaghe, that`s not a good thing fighting on foeign turf......

canelo`s been protected,no doubt....and you`d think that golden boy wouldn`t take a huge chance with their ace prospect, but they`ve made mistakes before.....

rhodes probably looks good early and gets walked down late...or maybe he exposes canelo?....

it`s very weird when you still don`t feel like you have decent measure of a guy after seeing him multiple times throughout a 37 fight career...

McGolovkin gets rare stop over Ouma

McGolovkin gets rare stop over Ouma

Didn't see this one but from what I've read Ouma was valiant but faded and finally got worn down.

Canelo vs. Rhodes

Canelo vs. Rhodes

Question in my head has been, not only has Ryan Rhodes never fought outside of the UK, but will he be ready for the humidity and high altitude of Jalisco, Mexico?

UK Play

UK Play

Martin Murray vs. Nick Blackwell 9.5 Over @ -165
30 fights between the two men with a combined 11 KOs, 2 out of 8 for Blackwell, and 9 out of 22 for Murray. Neither looks to be the case where their records don't do their power justice, although both men look like they throw harder to the body than upstairs.

Been there almost 3 weeks and is aware of that issue. Seems lately its been the era of the dogs/old men. He will give canelo some problems and may win a split decision to boot.
Parlay:Broner/Rhodes: pays 8-1.

rhodes isn`t a bad fighter.....but he`s not overpowering...

he`s never fought outside of the u.k. and he`ll be 35 this year....

i think he shows fairly well early(if he doesn`t freeze on the big stage first time outside the u.k.) because he has good feet and probably wears down later in the fight....

i think the youth, the venue and pretty much every peripheral fight related issue favors alvarez here....

makes you wonder if rhodes` people see some vulnerability in alvarez.....or they`re just cashing their ticket on rhodes....

but as i indicated in an earlier panel, after seeing alvarez numerous times,i still can`t get a feel for how good the guy is.....and that`s weird...

really want to take a flyer on litzau at almost 3-1....but bruner has been fighting much heavier than litzau.....

litzau has heart...and i hate guys that grunt when they punch......

but he`s gonna be outweighed by a good bit once they hit the ring....
