Sponge...most of the money was on Hatton, he opened -170 and closed -250

Tony...as posted, I didn't play Hoffman straight, I parlayed him with Lopez to bring the odds down but Lopez' opponent pulled out leaving me with a straight bet

Weasel...congrats

Box everything i read from every Boxing writer picked Castillo. The only person on the earth that i saw take Hatton was the guy in this thread. Just because money moves one way doesn't mean a thing to me. Even all the guys on HBO thought it should have been an even fight. You had to have balls to take that high of juice on basically an even fight. I never saw a fight like that in my life. it was like a whole different sport. That was the weirdest boxing style i ever saw. it was like a wrestling/boxing match and i guess Hatton is an expert at it. I would hate to have reffed it. I have to go look at it again. Its like he just charges ahead and hopes to land a punch to end it. thought i might be watching an MMA fight.

Hey Box---

What is your take on the Holyfield v Savar"easy" fight??

I know Lou has a weak chin against big hitters and big name fighters.Hell even Kirk Johnson knocked him out.

That said Holyfield doesnt have huge power and just plain doesnt throw enough and tires quick.

I am loving the OVER 9.5 rounds(-120).
Thinking of a very small play on Lou(+600) for the simple fact that Holyfield doesnt throw alot and Lou is not a bad fighter. If he is more active than Fres was then he steals it.By the way, I thought Fres beat Holyfield.

I did see both of Lou's fights this year and he looked better than he did when I saw him in 2001 twice.
All against bums with KO victories in all.None reaching round 4.

Keg i don't know if Holyfield was bullshitting or not but he didn't look bad his last fight and after the fight he said the reason everyone thought he was washed up the last couple of years was because of his shoulder being hurt. He said its finally healthy for the first time in years. Take it for what it is worth. I know the guy he fought wasn't the greatest but he was throwing bombs and like i said Evander didn't look to bad.

Holyfield's shoulder has been fine since he began his comeback, when he fought Oquendo he had a healthy shoulder, and yes most people thought Oquendo won that fight.

Holyfield's last fight was against Vinny Maddalone who is nothing more than a linebacker turned boxer, he was custom made for a Holyfield showcase fight.

What you have to remember is that Holyfield and his poeple realize how limited he is at this point of career. Just b/c his shoulder is healed doesn't mean he's the same fighter he was 10 years ago, the guy is 44 yrs old. To make a long story short, until Holyfield is fighting for a title his team will continue to match him with limited guys who have no footwork and slow handspeed. They realize how slow Evander is at this point in his career, they know the only thing he has left is power. So they very carefully picked Savarese for his next fight, they don't want anyone who can outbox the old man.

I realize I didn't answer any questions here, just wanted to give a little background on the situation in the little time I have right now. I'll get back to you on the O/U and Sav's chances of an upset here.

keygray1...I don't recommend the Over, in fact I posted a play on the Under 9.5 +105 in this thread. I played this bigger than posted as I expect a decent scalp by the end of the week. I already see a +100 on the Over and it wouldn't surprise me to see +130 to +150 by the end of the week.

If you still like the Over (and haven't already got down) I would wait until right before the fight to play it as money will slowly come in on the Under. I don't like the Over b/c these guys will stand right in front of each other and bang until someone goes down.

Savarese has a punchers imo, he'll probably lose but at +700 its definitly worth a small shot. Holyfield was wobbled by Bates in his first fight back, Savarese is much bigger and punches much harder than Bates, he's also much more skilled. Holyfield will lose soon, its just a matter of time.

thank you ,brother...this week was the law of averages catching up with you....it just proves you`re human...

obviously, anyone playing your posted action will happily forgive the infrequent losing week...

we should be congratulating tony this week........he never wavered on hatton....i never thought for a second that it would be castillo that got taken out with a body shot....

and tony had that sylvester by decision prop that should have cashed....

for the life of me,i`m utterly shocked why these boxing/mma threads aren`t going through the roof...i mean really going through the roof....there`s money to be made...we have box and now tony covering the european scene....we have franks throwing down occasionally....punchmaster....amilhaus....it would be nice if mayorga threw us a bone on occasion,...

spongy`s now a regular...

we have guys like kegray, kickserv, layinwood and de fade doing threads on mma...(where`s skillrules?)

this forum has a lot to offer,imo...

this is good stuff...

Call me insane or whatever but i have been watching sports since i was 6 or 7 and to me sitting in front of the set with a couple of six packs getting ready to watch a fight is probably my favorite thing to do in life. I don't even have to wager money on a fight to enjoy it like i have to with other sports. Boxing would be thru the roof if it wasn't for the Don Kings of the world. That is why the MMA is so popular now. Once these MMA guys start signing with promoters it will kill the sport. The Baroni-Shamrock fight was the best thing i watched all weekend by far.

I have always wondered the same thing.
Kickserv usually gets a MMA thread going and Box gets a Boxing thread going and they get papges and pages of repsonse.

These 2 guys know there stuff and never mind you coming into a thread with your opinions instead of starting new threads all over the place.

I am holding off on the Holyfield over play. I think Lou can take Evanders best for 3-4 rounds then Holyfield stop throwing AS USUAL. I fear a flash knockout and think either guy could do it.
I agree Holyfield should win,but why he is an 8-1 fav over an experienced fighter is out of line to me.

The Holyfield Over is now +105 at Olympic

Btw, I congratulated Tony in post #53...you just have to get through my Hatton bashing to see it...lol

Tony knows I have a great deal of respect for him, I was the one who invited/begged him to come join the madjack crew. Luckily I mentioned that sphincter (gw) was a regular poster here along with frank, it appears thats what sealed the deal. Tony is very solid...a huge addition to the team for sure

All I can say about the Hatton fight is that the fans are outstanding. The best chanters around. My wife and I were sitting 5 rows back from the band they brought with them. I have been to lots of fights in Vegas, but even though I've seen better, I have not EVER seen the energy and participation of the British fans at any other event. Outrageous.

Frank it sounds like a great time but to me it feels like a distraction from the fight. It feels like the singing or whatever it is just doesn't belong with the fight. It might just be me who knows. Its kinda like watching a game and hearing all that whistling. Must be something tho, to witness a big fight in Vegas.

You are 100% correct. It was a distraction, but from what? Punch, lunge, hug. Actually, thank God for all hoopla. If Hatton fights PBF as it is being spoken about now, I would watch it on the PPV big screen at home. It was fun though!

Dont think it will EVER happen.PBF is afraid to give up an unbeaten career.
I think he is done, but it is boxing so who knows.
He would never fight in Manchester though.

i think it would be interesting. All that grabbing against all that running. I would have to think Hatton would look foolish in this fight because Mayweather is so quick but who knows.
