Chavez Jr. vs. Duddy

Chavez Jr. vs. Duddy

I think Duddy is going to do better than most expect, to the point that I think he's got a decent shot at the upset. Chavez has continuously disappointed, and against mediocre opposition. The same can be said of Duddy though.

Discounting a young Carlos Molina, Duddy is probably the best guy Chavez has fought, although the Argentinian Cuello was a fairly tough surprise. I think Duddy has fought the better opposition. Roach training Chavez is of course a bonus, but I don't know how much magic he can really work with this guy. I see some clear limitations in Junior's game.

Toss-up as far as I'm concerned, but for some reason I get the impression that Duddy is going to put in a good aggressive performance here. I think the 3 to 1 line is off.

No strong feeling, and just my cheap 2 cents. Tiny wager on Duddy for me.

I placed two more bets.
Barrera (LARGE) -550
Chvez vs Duddy over 9.5 (medium)-180

What do you guys think about those bets?
So far I know Romi not a fan of ov 9.5 And I appreciate Romi comments.
Let's hear other opinions.

Barrera makes me nervous. He looks old, and hasn't won a real fight in a long time. Whether or not this is a real fight I'm not sure. I suppose Barrera finds a way to win this one, but I think the line is a bit off.

I think Chavez-Duddy goes over 9.5.

Chavez Jr. vs. Duddy

Chavez Jr. vs. Duddy

This fight looks like it will be very fan friendly. Both fighters still have chips on their shoulders and something to prove. This should be a fast paced fight. Both fighters will be offensive minded and most likely fight on the inside. Duddy takes a good punch, but he also takes a lot of unnecessary punishment. Chavez Jr. looks like the fresher fighter and in a grueling fight like this one, Chavez Jr and his left hook to the body will slowly wear down Duddy. In addition, never underestimate Freddie Roach's corner advice. I have seen this man numerous time tell his fighter exactly what to do to get knockdown. Therefore, I see the ref calling a stop to this fight in rounds 9-12.

On a side note, why are all of Chavez fights are PPV? Remember when PPV was once every two months and it was for a real world title. Guess those days are long gone. :D

Thank you, Ghost Kid, Quanah and Matt for your explanations. Very much appreciated your opinions.
Here is my view on fights.
About Barrera fight, it seems only I like this bet. The main reason I like this bet is, I think Barrera not shot. I watch his last 3 fights and he did not seem to be shot. As for odds, I would make him at least -1000 so to me -550 is more then good enough.
About Duddy vs Chavez fight. I consider Duddy and Chavez on the same level. Chavez maybe fresher fighter, but Duddy physically stronger. I think Chavez wins decision, but I am betting on over 9.5 just in case.
Good luck!

I actually agree with you on both the fights tonight.

I took half my winnings from yesterday and bet on 4 underdogs. 2 are MMA fights tonight.

I bet De Jesus over Barrera at +500. Barrera coming in at 3 pounds OVER a 138 pound limit is a bad sign.
I can't get the image of Willy Wise beating up Chavez sr out of my mind.
A dogshit fighter with a little bit of skill beating up a slower, fatter, older legend he would not have lasted a round with in his prime.
Barrera is going to get shocked against a bum at some point. He has been fighting since he was 14, it will catch up.

I bet Duddy at +330. Both these guys are not very good but I would say Duddy is the more natural middleweight and he has heart.
Chavez looked like he wanted to quit in the first Vanda fight.
In a dogfight, the guy with more heart and less skill sometimes wins.

Good luck guys!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

I don't blame people taking a shot on Duddy (good odds), but I got to think Chavez gets this done tonight.

One thing I DO NOT see happening is Duddy by stoppage. That guy has little midget arms and he can't KO any decent fighter. Gonna be tough to win this fight in Texas without punching power.

I'm not betting big on this because Chavez is bad too, but I put him in a parlay. I just think Duddy has too much going against him here.
