Hey Box,

Both of your under picks look really solid especially the retirement KO of Larry Donald, but how do you see the Holyfield-Savarese Under 9.5 happening? I agree with the pick, but would like to hear your reasoning on it.

Also, I like the Wilson vs Nwodo Under 8.5 -145 because both guys can punch, Nwodo can be KOed and Wilson has had fatigue problems in the past. What do you think about that FNF bout?

Thanks,
Matt

Sorry for the delay in responding

As a rule, I don't lay juice on Unders, but every once in a while a fight comes along that makes me break that rule. Last week I thought the Gutierrez-Perez Under was very solid at -145 so I went against my better judgement and played it. As posted, Guti hurt his right hand in the 5th round and coasted the rest of the way to a decision. Since I just had my reminder to never lay juice on Unders, I will pass on this one and the next one until I once again forget they are sucker bets.

I'll get back to you on Holyfield-Savarese

thats a winner. nice one. I am getting old. Saw your pick but the line was down. I saw brancalion beat Kurzawa in germany, solid fighter. split dec

Congratulations well done.

Btw Forrest now the favorit

Thanks Tony

Glad to see you're becoming a regular around here. The boxing end of this forum is a little slow at times, but we've added some very solid guys lately to go along with the usual suspects. I recruited Romi and armageto from another site, these guys are very good, hopefully they will stick around for awhile. Punchmaster knows what he's talking about for sure, hope he stays as well. We have a very strong group right now and the board has been more active lately, lets keep it that way.

Btw, thanks again for the heads-up on the Forrest line. I loaded up at +158 and now the other side +125. Eventually we'll have to decide how much to scalp off...if any...

under 8.5 -145 looks tempting.....i`m only seeing under 7.5...that one round could be important...i really don`t see wilson winning by decision,so i`m torn between taking wilson inside the distance at -109....and nwodo at +165.....

nwodo`s 6`3"...wison 5`10"..nwodo`s been whacked before....wilson,not.....both have fought legit heavyweights...but nwodo`s only been stopped by heavyweights....

andre purlette`s not a big heavyweight...but vs a level below elite guys,he can really whack... and wilson stayed in with him for 8...

supposedly both guys don`t like going backwards....i know that`s that`s a fact with wilson...he doesn`t go backwards...he`s a bigger,stronger,tougher julian letterlough...

my problem with nwodo is that i don`t see any real opponents on his ledger....chris thomas?..where`d he get a rep?...from beating that stiff richie lamontagne?...c`mon....

..imamu mayfield?...i can`t believe he`s only 35...i`m not sure that mayfield and ernest mateen aren`t the same guy.......lol

i read that nwodo`s based in baltimore....and that fightwriter posted a poll that stated this :

""Thursday p.m.: Gary "Digital" Williams of ""boxingalongthebeltway.blogspot.com"" told me this evening that in a poll on his website, 61 % of 116 respondents picked Nwodo to win and 38 % went for Wilson with 1 % going for a draw."

o.k...i`ve persoanlly been to michael`s 8th avenue to see fights numerous times..i`ve seen wilson a few times.....and i`ve never seen nwodo...and after checking his record,,i see he`s only fought there once....no fights at the d.c. armory....

so,unless those 116 "respndents" went to the gym.....or they all saw nwodo`s lone fight at michael`s 8th avenue( a 4th round ankle injury retirement by his opponent, who btw, kissed him on the cheek),or they routinely travel to virginia or pennsylvania to see club fight cards,i don`t know what they know that we don`t know...

the thing about nwodo`s tendency to club guys on the top and backs of their heads with long shots would be a concern....anybody hit on the back of the head hard enough can be buzzed...

so theres the dilemna...is nwodo the real deal?...can he handle wilson`s power?....can he use that height to his advantage?....

should be a great fan`s fight....

Okay weasal after reading your post you flip flopped more than you boy from Boston. I can't figure out what you like. I have no clue about either of these fighters but if i can read between the lines with your post it looks like you lean to the under so I'm gonna throw a few dollars on it for shits an giggles. I have it under 7.5 minus (I know you are not to happy with that line)-200. If this loses its your ass.:Yep: Rarely and i mean rarely do i ever take another's opinion on a bet but I'm bored. Oh and i saw that tiny complement you gave me at the other threads lol. "Sponge takes a joke like a man" :mj07: . As hard as you hit i have to or i will get eaten alive. By the way just looking at these two fighters I'm not sure they are smart enough to go over 7. I hope it is at least entertaining. This first fight looks like its gonna be a quick one.

This will be a great ninth round Weasal. Looks like Wilson was told to carry this guy. He won't even punch him now and the other guy is no threat at all. Got to love this. He will start fighting with 5 seconds left. Hasnt thrown one punch the whole round in round 7. Fans are booing. Since guys have it under 8.5 he will probably do the same crap then knock him out in round 9.

That's enough for me. Both these guys stink and i hope i never see either one again. I would rather watch the contender.:mj07:

lol.......spongy.....i said....."under 8.5 -145 looks tempting.....i`m only seeing under 7.5...that one round could be important"...

then i said....."i really don`t see wilson winning by decision,so i`m torn between taking wilson inside the distance at -109....and nwodo at +165".....

i really was leaning toward playing wilson inside the distance at -109......but i took the odds with nwodo at +165.......

i`m a cheap bastid....

not a smart way to wager....a small loss....i deserved that....

spongy...i was just trying to give some info....of course i was waffling....it was a toss-up fight....

in all honesty, wilson hit the lottery...all he was doing was waiting to counter nwodo when he lunged in...he had nothing else....and nwodo cooperated...

thankfully, the last 2 rounds lived up to the hype....

when i have a big play,i`ll do that christopher walken neck twitch thing so you`ll know i`m ready to pounce.......

Wilson v. Nwodo

Wilson v. Nwodo

wilson could have knocked this guy out any time he wanted.

It seemed after Wilson knocked down Nwodo in the third, Wilson was just waiting for Nwodo to come in and Nwodo was content to just jab outside of Wilson range from rounds 4-9. Finally in rounds 10 and 11 Wilson became offensive instead of just counter-punching. If those guys engage earlier that fight would of been over by at least the sixth round. Oh well, the KO was sweet.

You were right Boxrec, laying down the chalk for an Under is a suckers bet most of the time.

It was like someone told wilson to carry that stiff. There were times wilson wouldn't even fight. Just looked fishy to me. I thought he was winded half the time but then i remembered he never threw a punch.

Weasa,l one thing i will never do is blame someone

on a bet i took. Honestly i didn't even know who you liked with the total. I knew you thought the 7.5 was light cause guys had 8.5. No big deal. You just took my one baseball winner tonight and turned it into a loss lol. Nah i was just bored but i do have to hand it to you guys. I just can't watch these no name fights. I am very interested in the Gomez /Gatti fight tho. This could be a great one. I love the way Gomez fights. Looks a lot like a poor mans Julio Cesear Chaves to me. Gatti isn't anything but this is a step up from the contender. I think this is one i wont bet but just love watching. Besides espn classics and the contender i think that is the first time i watched a fight on Friday night in my life.

Not sure, I heard the scores on Telefutura and there was a 12 point difference. I seriously thought that half point could come into play and it probably did. I'm still a big fan of the points prop. I grabbed DLH +5 and that snuck in by one, but I did get burnt taking Freitas with points since he was stopped. Anyone grab the Ortiz under... I crawled in about half of what I normally bet. Laying the wood on the unders is a suckers bet I read on here- not sure about that- that had been going very well until lately.. but it sure is frustrating to watch fighters cruise when your on that. I'm considering the under on Inkin although you get a plus number and some seem to think Sturm may outclass his opponent enough to hit the under..... and Povetkin, shit, too many unders.. I will be ringside for Margarito- Williams- war of attrition, over in the 11th. Williams is a physical freak with a chin and punch volume but we may find out just how much of a bad ass Margarito is when Williams corner throws in the towel late :00x2

Sturm's "opponent", as far as I can determine, is a total tomatoe can. Great record consisting of class b & c stiffs. I think I will run with Margarito. This guy would rather get taken out on a stretcher than lose. Comes to fight. This might another Pavlik-Miranda. No dancing with the stars bullshit here. Williams may back off, but Margarito won't. He may lose, but he goes for broke every time out. If Williams does what he says he will, I can't see it going the distance. It will last many rounds though. I'm jealous! You will be ringside and I will be TV side!. Have fun.

5dimes has said that the platov-akinwande fight has had a fighter change, but the lines are still up elsewhere. I have been unable to find any news anywhere -- anybody got any info.
